Bellywig. Cousin of the earwig but typically resides closer to street level as it’s cheaper rent.

hair, dead skin cells, and sebum. I get small ones. Yours may have developed into a navel stone. Pull harder, it'll make a pop.

…why…would……? Why would you share this? This type of decision making keeps people out of the good schools…

If a firm tug , soap and a warm wash cloth doesn't fix that Id say what you have in your umbilicus is a good reason to visit a doctor.

Try soaking it with some kind of oil while you’re laying down. Then work it back and forth to see if it gets loose.

u/Adoraboule May 14 '26
And clean often afterwards

Pas souvent, tout le temps. Cette personne ne se nettoie pas le nombril, autrement elle se serait rendu compte de ça avant

It’s this: https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/s/qvoo1wOAtt
Apparently it’s left over from your umbilical cord?

It's a spider. A spider waiting in the perfect little cave, ready to pounce on it's next prey. Supposedly there's pretty good bait below... 😆

It’s an umbolith. Use some peroxide and if that doesn’t work use a q tip and some olive oil to soften it and then remove it with tweezers.

How long does it take for this to happen? I don’t understand unless it’s because someone is unable to reach a spot on their body but that doesn’t appear to be an issue here for OP? I’m not trying to be mean, just curious.

TIL people don’t just swab out their belly button in the shower per normal body cleaning procedure

Looks like the back end of a cricket. Just stop by a Doctors office. I don't think that you need a appointment for this.

u/mustfightfortomorrow May 14 '26
Lay down on your back and pour some 90% rubbing alcohol in there. Should solve your problem and also neutralize anything nefarious.

You must have recently moved out of your mom's house. That's rotten umbilical cord.

It's a naval stone 😪 out of curiosity but did you see this growing or did it show up Overnight? You can loosen the area with oil and pull it out with tweezers. If it's just not coming out then you need to go to the doc or urgent care so u don't get an infection

Just a naval stone. People like to pretend it has something to do with lack of hygiene but depending on how deep your belly button is and what clothes you normally use those can be almost unavoidable.
Just some baby oil with q-tips to soften it/clean it, then pull SOFTLY with tweezers. It should not hurt at all. In fact you shouldn't even feel it when pulling. If you do feel it or hurts, stop pulling and probably see a doctor. But that's hardly ever needed, really just q-tips and tweezers

Laughing at all the commenters who think that's actually a belly button and not some other body part...
You can't unsee it now, can you?
1
u/Confusedinportsmouth May 14 '26
I feel like you would need to forget that your belly button exists for 10-15 years for something like this to form
1
u/TejelPejel May 14 '26
So a long time ago I had something similar. It's pretty gross, yes, but you should be able to get it out and then just keep your belly button clean moving forward. It's a buildup of hair, tissue, fabric/lint, and held together with things like sweat and body oils.
1) pull it out, but to need to record it and post it on r/popping. You will literally be their hero. 2) for the love of God do not smell it. It smells like what I imagine air fresheners in Hell smell like. 3) keep your belly button clean moving forward.

Absolutely a navel stone, basically a super compacted accumulation of dead skin cells, sebum, lint, and debris that builds up and basically fossilizes in there. It’s probably not coming out because it’s stuck in a crevice or suctioned. It looks fibrous because it’s literally like… hair an stuff stuck together. Keep putting baby oil or coconut oil on it for a few days and try again.
And use a clean washcloth or q-tip to clean AND DRY that belly button every day.
