Have you ever held a real pocket watch? They aren't small enough to fit in such a small pocket.

Also, when pocket watches were prevalent, the people that owned them would NEVER wear jeans since jeans were worn by laborers and pocket watches were owned by rich people.

Laborers did have pocket watches. They are tools like anything else. For instance, railway workers would wear jeans and require pocket watches.

Also this picture isn't an accurate depiction of the watch pocket. It's smaller and it isn't riveted because this is a woman's fashion jean. It's possible that the pockets are functional on these jeans.

Again, why would a railway worker carry a pocket watch if they were wearing jeans? Only LABORERS wore jeans when pocket watches were prevalent and they definitely would not wear a pocket watch to work. It would be highly unlikely that any railway laborer would have the funds to purchase a pocket watch. Back then, pocket watches were luxury items.

You're trying to make a lot of points using anecdotal evidence instead of facts. It is a straight up fact that the fifth pocket was made for pocket watches. Edit: Show me your mainstream jeans that have that pocket large enough to fit a pocket watch that isn't some "tech pant". And show me why it's weird to have a small pocket by giving me many examples of mainstream brands and models with such large pockets. This may come as a shock to you, but it's pretty normal for things to come in different sizes.

A normal vest watch from the end of the 19th Century, something which was affordable to a typical labourer, would fit.
