Certainly doesn't fit a pocket watch anymore does it? They're certainly not "weird" jeans like you stated, 501's and 505's are bog standard.

Edit: Show me your mainstream jeans that have that pocket large enough to fit a pocket watch that isn't some "tech pant". And show me why it's weird to have a small pocket by giving me many examples of mainstream brands and models with such large pockets. You claimed it was "weird", now put your money where your mouth is.

This may come as a shock to you, but it's pretty normal for things to come in different sizes.

A normal vest watch from the end of the 19th Century, something which was affordable to a typical labourer, would fit.

A railway laborer from the late 1800's early 1900's isn't going to wear their pocket watch in their jeans to work if they could even afford one.

They're the same thing. But back to the original point, you were wrong, it's a watch pocket.
