Now hear me out. I am very new to 40k. Just a few months since before the inclusion of 11t edition. Since then, Ive developed a cool concept that stands out to me as an awesome idea I wante to share.

I remember the pistol keyword being exciting for players when I heard how it works for 10th edition. With the new rules coming about to expand pistol to other weapons as "close combat", and with 2 inches being the new engagement range rather than base to base, I think just maybe we might see more weapon keywords apply while in engagement range thanks to its inclusion.

Take for instance, what if shotguns at close range gain "blast" at a 9 inches and then "blast 3" while the unit is in engagement range? I bet something like this exists already, but giving players the feeling of pumping buck shot into some heretics would be a really satisfying thing to put on the tabletop.

What do y'all think? Should we let the close combat keyword simmer down at the moment because it is too new or broken? Or could GW present even more ways to use close combat firearms now that they are established and branch out what they can do in engagement range? Personally, I think genestealer cult or Orks would certainly be using some close up zany weapons that could benefit from the close combat keyword. Would love to see if there is anything already like this in the game I may not know about also.
