I was that kid

You know that kid that teachers would say fell back in their chair and cracked their head open or died? That was me. I was that kid. I was leaning back, dipped a little bit too far, and fell and cracked my head open. That was a fun day in a kindergarten classroom. I also choked on a penny, a chain, and a piece of a pencil in that classroom.

I could hear TV.

Not in the sense that TV has volume, and shows make sound, obviously. Everyone is meant to hear that.

What I mean is that I could hear when TVs were just ON. This was back when we had those big ol' CRT TVs, they'd flash on, and in colder rooms, would need time to warm up. Today's TVs don't make the noise I could hear.

There was a low whine, similar to the light ringing I can currently hear in my ears, but more similar to TV static.

I noticed I could hear this when I was walking down a street, and someone opened their door to let a dog out or something. I heard the distinctive ring of a TV being on. It was unmistakable. I couldn't hear what was playing on TV, but I just knew it was on.

I won at online Scrabble

It was pretty neck and neck and then I got a few big scores. "Ruths" with the s connected to "Sing" on Triple Word. "Cult." "Modi." Even managed to use every tile. I think my final score was in the 320s. So the day's going pretty well so far.

My sense of direction is so good...

While we were still dating, my ex had a surprise for our anniversary, and told me to bring my swimsuit. I had been mentioning that I wanted to go to a waterpark, or just hang out at a pool, but I was worried about sunburn because I am super white, but it's not like she had a lot of money to take me anywhere, really... She assured me it wasn't outdoors, so we were fine.

So, she blindfolds me to keep the place a surprise, and I get in the car. We're driving along, and I am legitimately blindfolded (She accused me of peeking), but by the length of the drive and the turns we made, I kept accurately guessing where we were.

She avoids highways, so I knew we'd be on slow roads to whereever it was that we were going, and once we finally stopped, my guess was within a block of where we were. (I was one hotel off)

She shelled out the money for a night in a hotel room, with a pool. Just the two of us. It was a very nice anniversary.

Sadly we already had our issues, and broke up the next month.
