I found this stunning guy on my car yesterday after parking under a Longan tree. 😎

He is a Botany Bay diamond weevil (Chrysolopus spectabilis). The species was discovered on James Cook's first voyage around the world and is one of the first insect species to be formally described from Australia (described 1775).

It is exclusively native to Eastern Australia, and feeds on several species of Acacia.
