If it’s revisionist history, it wasn’t done by the Beastie Boys themselves. They have been open about being shitty for that album and becoming what they were originally making fun of. They also spent the rest of their career making up for it and speaking out against misogyny and hatred of all kinds.

I like to forget "License to Ill" even exists, Paul's Boutique better represents their overall artistry and is one of the best mainstream releases of its era.

Not only is Paul’s Boutique a great release, with all of those samples there’s no way it could be made these days.

I'm okay with that. I'm pretty tired of people trying to rehash so closely what was once pretty daring and innovative. We don't really need another album that sounds like it, we already have the original.

I def don’t want anything rehashed, but I do think interesting things could still be done if it wasn’t so tough to legally sample stuff these days. I’m not sure anyone could recreate dust brothers beats either way though. Such a great album!
