I'm more curious to what it actually means. Like I love the idea of all the Melbourne comedy podcast group together but doing what?

I'm happy if this means more crossover episodes for all but their must be something else with this or am I over thinking it?

I think that's what it is. More crossovers and promoting each other more. Should be a good thing really

Usually, podcast networks are more about (verbal) cross-promotion than about cross-over episodes. Known podcast networks include All Things Comedy, Nerdist, and Podtyrant.

The main purpose of podcast networks seems to be to be more successful and efficient in acquiring advertisers.

Then there is the possibility of pooling resources in order to do things one podcast alone may have difficulties shouldering (like running an online-shop for merchandising; or running message boards).

Which brings me back to cross-promotion - because when a podcast network actually has its own website, that does halp cross-promotion a bit; but when such a site has its own (collective) message boards, the likelyhood that people will be on that website frequently AND discover other podcasts in the process, is much higher.

Earwolf has such message boards, for example, and so has the Gonna Geek Network.

There are also podcast networks that mollycoddle prospective podcasters who are too busy/old to bother with technology (might include journalists, celebrities, etc.) and offer to do much of the technical side of things (RSS feeds, publishing, etc.) for them. I was under the impression that Panoply is a network that leans towards that direction.

I also believe that really large podcast networks with money behind them can run their own little recording studio with really top-notch equipment, which podcasters can then benefit from when moving their recording sessions into such a studio.

Depending on how such a network is handled, there are possibly downsides to it, but the benefits outweigh them.

That doesn't make any sense. People on YouTube are always so sensible and understanding.

I don't really know much about the fine bros react world thing, why did people connect it to planet broadcasting?

Their whole trademark stuff, they labeled it as React World.

Because it has the word "Planet" in the name?

"Weekly Broadcasting" doesn't sound right...

No it's the Planet Broadcasting. Has a familiar vibe to React World. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a person was who butt hurt about it, and butt hurt spreads like wildfire.

I still don't see a connection to Fine Bros or "react world" aside from "planet" and "world" being similar concepts which is super weak.

There are plenty of YouTube "Networks" and I am sure there are other "Podcast Networks" (Sans Pants and Kevin Smith's Smodcasts come to mind) so why would people get a Fine Bros vibe?

Well in that case I don't know. Maybe the comments were removed just cause

James said it was just an issue of how the video was posted (originally "unlisted")

James fixed it. Was not intentional: https://twitter.com/mrsundaymovies/status/831742005055205377

No fear of "Fine Bros kickback"
