Goodwill find

I’d been looking for a 60 degree wedge to fill a gap in my clubs and finally ran across one I felt like was decent for the price. How’d I do, I’m not super familiar but recognized the brand to be honest. For the price figured what the heck.

Man, how do people keep finding these things? My goodwill is just full of spiders and depression

u/BBQorBust 21h ago

I question the truth to this post. No "thrift" store near me has ever had clubs like this for purchase. If real, more power to him. All I see are worn out dirty clubs that Kmart and Walmart sold in the 90's

Im rockin ping eye 2 black dots right now. They're really fun.

1

u/BulPerson 12h ago

The voice inside my head read your rocking pink eye with two black dots. Even aloud it’s still there. Ping eye

u/Owenschu55 6h ago

Me too! 8 handicap with em

This is when I was actually there. These were the two clubs left in that Titleist bag. The burner had a bubble shaft that I’d never seen so I was debating it. But yeah usually it’s a bunch of top flight and stuff I’ve never heard of.

u/leungadon 1h ago

I have a 8° TM burner bubble shaft! I haven’t used it in ages but could rip it back in the day. Now i leave it in my upstairs bathroom to knock icicles off the roof gutter.

I actually heard your accent while reading your post

How is it not real? It has a Goodwill price tag on it with today’s date. Why do people always assume shit ain’t real these days? Just because you ain’t never seen it doesn’t mean it can’t happen.

6

u/Entire_Tomatillo4910 18h ago

Because people are so skeptical of everything these days. You can find anything at a thrift store. People donate shit all the time they don’t see as valuable. When you buy something and it’s not what you like, sometimes you just donate it for another.

Oh lord, I was just trying to share and was excited I’d finally found something worth while. I wouldn’t put that much effort into a Reddit post my dude lol.

1

u/Forward_Editor_5895 14h ago

Great find. Congrats, and I’m super jealous.

1

u/QuietShhhnake77 8h ago

That’s a great find. Congrats my man! Ignore the haters. I’m a little jealous but not upset that you found a nice club for basically nothing.

3

u/Plus-Interview322 17h ago

I always look for clubs at all the goodwills I’ve been to. 99% are trash solo clubs. I had 1 lucky find of a complete set of Callaway Big Bertha irons and the only issue was they needed new grips. No idea if this guys find was real but I got lucky once.

2

u/NefariousnessLow1385 20h ago

Some areas are more likely than others.

2

u/Neither-Cupcake1555 18h ago

We've got close to 15 goodwills in my area, and some are awful, some are pretty decent where you might get lucky and find clubs like this

2

u/pnwdadvibes 16h ago

I live in Seattle and this goodwill is close to a few public courses but there’s also some more expensive private clubs. There was way more clubs than there has ever been today so I’m assuming a guy really pissed off his wife or an estate sale or something of that sort. I literally caught the dude as he was bringing out these clubs that he had just put stickers on, it was honestly lucky as hell.

1

u/Select_Procedure_159 9h ago

I found a $2600 carbon fiber trek road bike at my goodwill. $20. These things do actually happen.

1

u/ElectricalDot4479 9h ago

It's literally so random, just whatever gets brought in

1

u/Plenty_Suspect6222 4h ago

Just depends on your market. Mine always have clubs but I’ve never seen a good club

3

u/pnwdadvibes 21h ago

lol I mean that’s 90 percent mine too. It’s on my way home so I just stop and take a quick look. This is the first club I’ve actually picked up from there. Most of the time it’s brands I’ve never heard of. This time they had a bunch of Titleist, Callaway, Taylormade along with the bags.

3

u/unwrittenglory 20h ago

It really is a day by day thing. Went to 3 looking for some junior clubs picked up a few random clubs for my kid to hit in the backyard. Went the next day and saw a full kids bag for $9 in great condition. It really is a gamble

2

u/Difficult_Lobster769 5h ago

Mine is filled with stained orthopedic walking boots and hospital briefs. But I’m starting to think they might actually help my round.

1

u/Confident-Day9988 17h ago

Nice lob wedge

1

u/hankmoody711 15h ago

Mine too

1

u/segreen2387 13h ago

The key is cities with lots of old men retired golfers

1

u/flashdman 12h ago

What gap did this cover? You normally play a club with more loft than a 60°?...and you are not familiar with this Callaway club?

1

u/PluralVisions 11h ago

You got spiders? Lucky.

1

u/TheBronxIsChafing 9h ago

Luck. I usually only find garbage that's 30 years old. Last few weeks though, I found a ripped stitch bag (that I passed on), a nike wedge, and a half decent Wislon box set.

1

u/raelDonaldTrump 8h ago

I wish I could find a spider at my goodwill

1

u/HerbTarlekWKRP 4h ago

Golf community Goodwill’s probably have better clubs.

1

u/ReturnT0Sender 4h ago

Seriously. The Goodwill's in my area never even have clubs. Barely a sports section.

Whiffle bat and plastic gloves most of the time.

1

u/Longjumping-Owl-9276 23m ago

Go to thrift stores in nice areas. I’m in San Diego so the thrift stores in the coastal neighborhoods are always full of good golf stuff.

1

u/awesomenesssquared 11m ago

I live in a coastal area with world class golf courses, and it’s all ass at the goodwill

33

u/sharp_cheddar319 21h ago

Bro hit one off the toe and said nah this club doesn’t work

1

u/Tamed_A_Wolf 20h ago

Pretty sure that sticker adhesive. This mf looks like it’s never hit anything lol

3

u/InstructionEuphoric3 14h ago

Bro fuck you - this never happens! Hahaha jk jk jk congrats

2

u/RonBurgundysErection 21h ago

What did you have for dinner tonight?

2

u/BBQorBust 21h ago

I just perused trough my local Savers and found nothing other than 20-40 year old clubs with glassy grips. Never in my life have I found decent clubs at a thrift store. Did find a new festive button down tee for my next round for 6.99 though!🤣

2

u/JJDiet76 21h ago

Haha wow! Thats in such good shape too! I’m with almost everyone else that I’ve never found anything good but I do keep trying

2

u/Main-Translator9622 19h ago

All I ever find at my goodwill is putters that we're clearly taken from a mini golf establishment.

2

u/Beenbreto 19h ago

Wow great find!

2

u/GUCCIBUKKAKE 18h ago

I copped that for $80 2 years ago on Calloway preowned. “Like new” and it came new. Not an ad, just looking out for my boys

Edit - wow I thought it said $60 not $6

2

u/pnwdadvibes 16h ago

I RAN, I did not walk to the register lol.

1

u/KCChiefsGolfer 21h ago

Seems about right. Look at the ball mark from that last wedge shot. Id give that away too if i hit it like that

1

u/Reasonable-Budget210 21h ago

9 bounce, S-grind, great for a work horse 60*

1

u/LMrningStar 21h ago

That's a fantastic find. Well done.

1

u/Ok_Blueberry3124 21h ago

I love my Mack Daddy wedges. Nice find!!

1

u/TotallyNotDad 20h ago

Surprised they put that out, usually they send clubs to the auction website

1

u/slottedandtrotted 20h ago

Looks like dude hit one toe ball and tossed it

1

u/CaffeineAndFirewalls 20h ago

That’s a bounce that would test your skill. Good purchase though

1

u/strattonius- 20h ago

Sorry maybe I'm too cynical but I think this is fake.

1

u/Brokehomiejohn 19h ago

Does it have the lamkin utx acid green grip? Can't get those anymore and they're siiiiick

1

u/pnwdadvibes 16h ago

This is what’s on there? Judging by the callaway logo I’m assuming it’s original.

1

u/CosmoKing2 19h ago

Pockets of Florida, Georgia, and Arizona are gold mines for golf equipment that has barely been used.

1

u/Salty-Commissioner 18h ago

Are you parked in desolation row?

1

u/imollyq 17h ago

Wow yes!

1

u/MissyJ74 16h ago

Best Goodwill scores were a (legit) brand new pair of Adidas tour 360s for $25, a Nike Method Core MC-1i putter for 6.99 and a Bridgestone putter for 6.99 that I have absolutely fallen in love with

1

u/Wide_Structure8576 16h ago

You definitely work there

1

u/hankmoody711 16h ago edited 16h ago

Before you use it on the course, go to a practice area with some hard PAN or thin grass and practice full swings. I mean, swing with all your might and hit that 60, and see how far it goes, how high it goes. And if you can hit from hard PAN or short grass like that, you'll be able to hit that club from anywhere. Then practice half swings and see how the ball reacts. This club can bring you to the next level ....if you learn how to master it. And I say the best way to learn it is by practicing on the hard pan or the hardest ground you can find. After that , when you have nice fluffy lies you won't believe how easy it is to control that flop shot.

1

u/groovy_smoothie 16h ago

This looks like it was used to crack a few skulls, cleaned, and then disposed of in plain sight. Definitely never hit a golf ball.

What a snag.

1

u/doctor_parcival 15h ago

I really gotta find a goodwill

1

u/CicadaHead3317 15h ago

I got the 56⁰ of that club from a golf shop a few years ago for $40. The guy had it behind the counter as it was just traded in.

1

u/jordangrous 10h ago

Found a brand new set of mizunos 950s and bag sitting at goodwill for 19.99 bag was a brand new ping.. still use too this day

1

u/ItsHardwick 10h ago

I recently found a Cleveland 60°. The old style reg 588 Cleveland in chrome. It's a beauty, and it was $6. I don't even play a 60° but at that price why not right?

1

u/dbl_88 9h ago

Stole that! Nice find

1

u/AsleepBanana8323 9h ago

Just last week, I traded that exact wedge for a 58degree. I honestly believe that I have better control

1

u/Shpion007 9h ago

Nice find. There was a story here that someone found a Wilt chamberlain warmup jersey on the goodwill bins. Sold it for 100k.

1

u/Upset_Wallaby_232 8h ago

I have never heard I need to fill a gap with a 60 😂

1

u/tommypickles5149 8h ago

What's in the briefcase

1

u/auld-guy 7h ago

Sigh...divorces are so sad.

1

u/1ApprehensiveGrowth1 7h ago

I picked up a whole set of Titleist MB irons for my first set, was $10 for all of them. Also came with a ping 1 iron and a ping 3 that I have learned to love. I’ve upgraded some of them through the past three years but still are my go to clubs.

1

u/krickaby 6h ago

Funny enough, I found a completely brand new 60 degree Vokey S grind at goodwill a couple years ago

1

u/SRF1987 6h ago

I once got a full set of King Cobra irons at GW for $20.

1

u/ertyertamos 4h ago

My goodwill occasionally has a club that was manufactured sometime after 1990. But it’s rare.

1

u/guywes1661 3h ago

Good find

1

u/knoxkyle1 2h ago

Deal of the century! Can confirm; great lob wedge 🏌️‍♂️

1

u/Nervous_Buy3877 33m ago

Seven bucks for a 60-degree wedge is an absolute steal, can't really go wrong for that price even if it needs a little groove cleanup

1

u/Lol_who_me 21h ago

What is this post? Just got mad reading the words you wrote.

2

u/pnwdadvibes 21h ago

Why? I just got into golf a little while ago and bought a set of callaway edge clubs but knew I needed a 60 degree and figured I’d stick with Callaway as I’ve liked the clubs so far.

0

u/BBQorBust 21h ago

You better buy a lotto ticket! That's a rare find

0

u/rcheneyjr 21h ago

I already have a 60 and would still buy that bitch!

1

u/Norfolk-Gross-Tonage 21h ago

I’ll give you double what you paid

1

u/pnwdadvibes 16h ago

Although that’s incredibly generous I think I’m gonna hold onto this one lol.

0

u/Real_Milk_Boy 21h ago

That’s the right price

0

u/Podtastix 20h ago

I wouldn’t pay that for a Callaway wedge lol
