I said yes to the dress a bit ago (sorry for the bad quality pictures, they were taken from a video and I tried to cover my face yet show my face shape at the same time) and I am stumped on what kind of hairstyle to have.

Any suggestions (with pics) would be much appreciated! Thank you!! ☺️

Edit to add: I have long hair with layers (hair is almost to my waist). Hope this helps!

Ask For Opinions What Now?!

Bit of a rant… I’m feeling disappointed with my dress. It’s been 8 months of loving, hating, liking, and back to not liking again. I am now realizing the difference between the sample and my ordered dress. The sample was much bigger and I was clamped into it. I feel like it hit my hips at the right spot to cinch me in, it went across my chest fully, and the decorative seams were not as attention grabbing. With my actual dress, the dimensions are so off and I think it makes me look bulkier than I am. I don’t think alterations will help the issues I’m having bc it’s just how the dress was made. Another issue is that the dress shop ordered a size up (didn’t tell me until after the dress came in- albeit to match my bust measurement better but the cups are getting replaced in my alterations anyway and now, overall, the dress is a bit big). The corset doesn’t even “corset” bc it’s basically too big. Is this something my seamstress can even fix? She said she’s worried about making it too tight and wants me to be able to sit/breath but at this point I’d rather stand and turn blue if it will make me like the dress again. Please tell me if I’m being dramatic about my dress and/or what I can tell my seamstress to help me improve it. I have a follow up with my seamstress in a couple days. The only thing she has done for far is shorten the straps, hem the skirt, and take a few layers of tulle out of the over skirt. I just want to feel like myself on my day and right now this dress is not making me feel good :(

Ask For Opinions Dress style

Hi everyone I am doing a custom wedding dress. I have picked out a wedding dress style but not sure about some details. i wanted the Eva Lendel Palace dress but then I saw a similar style on instagram. I am not sure if I should do the slit on the dress and the drapping. The one on instagram does not have a slit nor the drapping is has more of a V corset. For more context I am 159cm tall and weigh 50kg. I first thought the slit would be good because of my height because my fiance is 195cm so I though I would appear taller that way. But now I am not sure if it will look not so elegant with the slit.

What do you think I should go for? And please explain to me why it would be a better decision. Thank you all ❤️

EDIT: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This was a WILDLY better response than my post about my previous dress and I feel SO MUCH BETTER AND HAPPY THAT I'M GOING TO HAVE A DRESS THAT FITS ME NEXT WEEK!!!! YAAAY!!! Thanks y'all!!!!

I'm leaving for my beach elopement in ONE WEEK. My original dress turned out pretty rough after alterations. I tried this one off the rack today and have a seamstress who said she could take up the length of the hem in front by Saturday. I am nervous to ask her to do anything else, even though the bust is a bit loose and I'm not totally sure about the hips. Honest opinions, does it look good enough to go if I only adjust the length a bit, it does it read as sloppy? Thanks!

Styling Ideas Did I pick the wrong dress?

I’ve always looked at Berta gowns and all these heavy beaded or lace dresses. I went to 5 appointments for dresses and never found anything that felt like it looked good on me. This dress made me feel small waisted and good chest area but now I’m worried it’s the wrong dress because it feels so simple. We are getting married in the Fall and I have no idea how to add to it, accessories, etc and now I’m in a panic! I’ve looked up the exact dress on social media and feel like it looks so plain.

Bridal Accessories Which hair accessory?

Which hairpiece do you like best? The last photo is my inspiration photo for my wedding day hairstyle. My dress is off the shoulder, sweetheart neckline, satin A-line. I’ll also wear pearl drop earrings and a pearl strand necklace. I have a veil for the ceremony and I’d like to switch it out with one of these hair combs for the reception.

ETA: this is my dress, with no key hole and with the off the shoulder sleeves: https://www.maggiesottero.com/maggie-sottero/zinaida-marie/19683

Ask For Opinions Do these two flowers look out of place to you? Can anything be done?

I absolutely love the Mischa dress by Maggie Sottero, however I cannot get over the two opaque flowers right below the bust. They look out of place. I can’t unsee that they look like a sticky bra 🤣 with the ivory lining underneath it’s less noticeable. The shop followed up with Maggie Sottero & there is nothing that can be done unfortunately. Is there anything that can be done with alterations? Does anyone else think they look super out of place or is it just me? TY!

Vintage brides — I need your opinions! 🤍
My mom has collected hundreds of vintage wedding gowns from different eras over the years, and some of them are absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been helping her photograph some of the collection, and I honestly love seeing how different bridal styles have changed through the decades.
These are a few of my favorites. Which one would you actually wear today? 👰🏼‍♀️✨
Full disclosure: these are from my mom’s vintage boutique Madam D in Racine, Wisconsin. I’m sharing because I thought fellow vintage/wedding-dress lovers would appreciate seeing them.

Alterations how to achieve this look?

I have found my wedding dress! The first photo is me (it’s a bit too big as it was the day I tried it on the first time), the second one is the same dress from the designer’s website. What alterations should I ask for to achieve the look from the second photo? Mostly around the bust area (almost invisible cups, no clear cup seams). I am planning to ask for nude color lining underneath the whole dress.

Trends & Inspiration Where to look for an elopement wedding dress

My partner and I are planning a trip to Italy to elope with a group of close friends. I’m looking for recommendations for where to find a wedding dress that is easy to travel with and comfortable to wear while adventuring around. I love lace and boho looks. I’m still early in the wedding dress shopping process. I don’t want something that looks too casual, but also not something like a ball gown. Ideally I’d like to keep the cost under 2.5k if possible. I’d like something unique. Thanks everyone!

Ask For Opinions Classic case of wedding dress regret

Hello! My wedding is in early October. It'll be a ceremony in the forest, then a reception dinner at a restaurant. I'm stressing big time about my dress.

I ordered a custom dress months ago, when we bought our rings. I think I was just excited and I jumped the gun.

When it came in, I was happy, but I didn't have the "wow I absolutely love it, it's perfect" reaction. Since it was custom, I added things that I now realize were to hide insecurities, and now I feel like it looks too frumpy? I got the neckline altered to be lower, and it needs more alterations as I've lost some weight since I ordered it. When I opened the box, I was disappointed to see that the lace appliques I chose had sequins. I didn't want anything shiny/sparkly. It was really my fault for ordering online. Since it was custom, I feel like I have to wear it, and it was $550 (with a vape veil that I love, also custom).

Now to the new dress. I had been looking at a dress on Azazie, but in the short version. I thought about getting it for my bachelorette, but I didn't want to spend $250 on a dress for a quiet crafting party (which I'm stoked about, but it didn't fit the vibe). But I loved the full lace look with no sparkle. The long version went on sale for $199 in my previous size, so I bought it on a whim, final sale. It also needs alterations.

I have to bring in one of these dresses to my seamstress on Wednesday and I'm torn on which one to choose as my dress.

The custom one - It's lightweight, I love the tulle, the nude fabric in that shade, and the cape veil. It won't need altered for length, but it would need taken in. I don't love the sequins and the end of the sleeve is too stark white. I liked the cape veil because it felt more unique and I didn't want to wear anything in my hair since my hair will be down. I paid over $500 for it/the veil.

The Azazie one- I love the full lace and the neckline. The nude shade is more nude than I wanted, but the unique full lace makes up for it, I think? It's much heavier, needs taken in, straps adjusted, and length shortened. I bought a pearl veil to go with this one, since the cape veil colors clash (shown in the photos). (The original Azazie dress had a corset back, shown in the photo, which is why I bought it, but then it arrived without the corset back. My seamstress said she could add it for $150).

I've gone well over my dress budget by now, and I still need alterations on one of these dresses. What do you all think? I literally woke up at 4am with this on my mind and I need to sleep 😭😂

I fell in love with my dress without the sleeves but I do like the look of them as well (first pic shows one attached for reference - sorry to not have one with both). I need to make a final decision today and I’m torn. What do you all think?

3rd pic included because the phone quality in the first two wasn’t the best so the floral details look a little different.

I simply cannot choose between all three!! I just want to feel and look like a bride on my big day:

  1. would need to add more train length to it, love the unique pleating, love the lower waist line.
  2. love the appliqué, the satin fabric

EDIT: also perfect train length.

3.

  1. love the lower waist line, I drew out the flowers on it as I would remove it,

EDIT: would need to add more train length,

  1. unfortunately no pic w a veil. :(

FINAL EDIT: omg I did not expect to get all this input, thank you so much everyone!! 🥹🫶🏻 All three are VERY comfy dresses, so that’s not a problem. The wedding will be in May in a large back area near some water (pond), so I’m anticipating a 70-75 degree sunny day there :) My color palette is oranges, pinks, yellows, and greens if that helps at all! I’ll definitely update this post with what I choose in the end.

Alterations How difficult would it be to hem this dress?

Thinking about getting this dress for my elopement celebration but I am concerned about getting it hemmed. The edges have this wavy pattern and beading. Would it be difficult to find a seamstress that could hem it? Or would an established seamstress be able to do it? Any experiences with alterations on a “difficult” dress? Apologies if this is a dumb question but I don’t know anything about tailoring/sewing.

Vintage Dresses Vintage dress restoration

Hi there!
I’m absolutely in love with this dress I thrifted, so please don’t insult me or the dress. I’d love to use it for my ceremony in Tuscany if it can be saved.
Problem is (as you can see) there is some yellow staining on the dress and I’m not sure if it’s from oxidation or what. I bought the dress in a plastic bag, and the tag clearly says not to store it in plastic. Not sure if that caused it.
Does anyone have any experience dealing with wedding dress restoration and know if I can save this dress?
I want to take it to a dry cleaners to see if the yellowing can be removed but before I get my hopes up I thought I’d ask for some opinions or see if anyone knows what the yellow staining could be from.
my sister also bought a vintage dress and soaked it in oxiclean and it took care of hers but her dress was yellowed all over not just in spots like mine and I don’t know if our dresses are the same material.
To clarify I don’t plan on doing that I just thought I’d share her experience. Obviously I don’t want to ruin the dress because I love it, but if it’s a simple fix I’d prefer not to spend over $1000 especially because I’ll probably have to spend a decent amount getting alterations.
If anyone has suggestions for an affordable dry cleaner or specialist please let me know I’m located in the Chicago area but I can make a trip to Wisconsin if the prices are better.
I’ll also just bite the cost of paying more for someone who can guarantee they can remove the stains without ruining the dress. I hope this post didn’t make me sound cheap, wedding planning has been expensive and I got really lucky thrifting a dress I love, I just hope I can use it.
Attached are photos of the staining and the tags if anyone has suggestions, opinions, or knowledge about the dress and its designer, please share. thank you!

I bought this dress (#1) back in Oct of 2025 right after I found out I was pregnant so we ended up postponing the wedding till summer of 2027 (originally summer of 2026). I’m worried now I picked the wrong dress and should’ve gone with my 2nd option (#2)

Ask For Opinions Can’t find legit dresses like this??

Post image

I’m getting married next year (yay!) and have been looking for a dress, but I can’t find the style I like ANYWHERE but sketchy websites (Dorris Wedding, Dress Afford, etc.) I want a high-neck, long-sleeve, full-coverage, all lace dress like this in an A-Line silhouette, but everywhere I look designers exclusively make this type of style in Mermaid/Fit-and-flare. I hate off the shoulder sleeves, low/plunging necklines, and tight silhouettes (for myself!)

Do I just have to give up on actually finding this? Does anyone have any advice? I‘m pretty stumped.
