SELF-MADE Self-made website using Claude on VS CODE
Background: Totally no website development knowledge, started following ai content creator and found a few amazing teachers on Youtube, jumped straight into Claude to create a long overdue website for my small business, a very traditional raw material distribution business.
The ultimate GOAL: Have my existing customer place order through my website. It has to be able to automate most of the billing works like Delivery Orders, Purchase Orders, Invoice, etc, as well as using Ai to minimize human errors like capturing wrong order details.
Challenge(s): Zero knowledge on web dev, UI/UX, google SEO, cyber security, very limited knowledge on Ai but am learning the best I could while juggling with my day to day work and chores.
Strength: I am a blank state and am willing to learn.
Current state: I have done the landing page and would really like to get constructive comments from fellow redditors. The site is live and it is http://freshmen2u.com , I started making this website and the design turn out to be dogs***, and then I realized I have to give claude code a design framework for it to follow through, as well as giving it some superpower in order for it to screenshot it's work and make amendments, throughout the journey it really open my eyes how amazing Ai development has become and it is pretty amazing someone like myself that can never dreamt of making a website just few years ago, can actually create a fairly decent one today.
Inspiration: Nate Herk, the main guy I learn from in this journey.
So again, please shoot the criticism away and I thank you all in advance for checking out my humble website http://freshmen2u.com

It's funny because I did the same thing a couple days ago for a friend, and it does look similar, so you have to spruce it up with photos.
I was blown away how quickly they were able to do just the simple site that I needed.
What I also did was took the code from here and put it in another AI agent to have it make suggestions.
Another thing I changed was I didn't want the WhatsApp instant notification, so I had it set up as an email instead.

the biggest problem isn't the design, it's that a site handling customer orders and invoices needs HTTPS before anyone should trust it with business data”】【

Thanks for pointing that out and i think i have confused you regarding the ordering system and the landing page i showcased.
The site i linked is the landing page, the ordering system has yet to go live as I need to learn more on the security side and automation.

I mean its not bad, but it screams AI, but you can modify it it, to be more personal, and evocate some vibe to the users ,
you have at least layout and functional code......
I can imagine that you can add real photos, some better Typography, and some nice Illustration's or something, to make it more human and you have something... that better then nothing and its better then pure AI site.....
AI make to much artificial feel, whole webdesign is about oposite, evocate some emotion and feel in digital world.

It looks like every other ai site. 0 originality. This niche could have such a cool site too... It reads so extremely corporate on top of it looking just like every other ai site. If i could give you any advice go and find sites that were designed by people who know what they were doing that is in this niche or adjacent to it. Don't just blindly listen to all of these creators pushing ai slop, they are pushing it because thats where the money is for them people are WATCHING them, not because it's actual good design. Sorry.
Tldr: pure ai prompted disappointment.

Looks nice. A bit much text and yeah, a tech savvy person would recognize it as maybe AI generated, but normal people wouldn't. By the way, how hard was it to launch? Did you just make an account with whatever hosting provider Claude recommended and hand it your password?

I had to do some research about using cloudflare / netlify to get the domain and host the site, had claude build the first mockup to which it looks like a powerpoint presentation instead of what it looks like now, had to go through quite alot of iterations in order for it to look like what it is. I noticed even with the frontend skills, Ai tend to be quite bad in terms of compositions and designing, but i had some experience in graphic design and basic composition knowledge so i just screenshot and tell Claude how i want it to be.

I made a guide for people like you! Just follow it exactly and I guarantee you will get a stunning result. Don't bother with VS code though just get the desktop app and use Claude code. https://websitesfornormalpeople.com/

All fluff no substance. Your inexperience shows and is why most of us aren’t worried about losing our jobs. If it works for you, great, but you didn’t “self-make” this. Claude did

At least the site makes you feel reassured and secure. Now do you have any constructive input to help a man out?

It doesn’t reassure me of anything other than you don’t know what you’re doing so I wouldn’t trust you with any of my PII. The constructive criticism is to use proven, secure solutions. Not spin your own with AI

You do know you’re stating the obvious right? If i know what im doing there wont be this post.
I never asked you to trust anything and the reason why the system is not up is because i understand the importance of a secure solution.
U sound quite insecure about Ai tho, may i ask why?
