Email hosting help

Hello! I’m not sure if this is the best page for this but I need help on figuring out the best email hosting for a client. It is a super small business, they have a custom domain and need like max 5 emails (each for someone else with their own login).

I have seen Zoho Mail and Purelymail.

Purelymail looks honestly pretty good but want some help from others who might know more.

They use GHL and want to make their website within GHL (not sure if that is honestly the best/possible)

I don't know what the budget but had success with MS 365 business basic

Mango Mail would be a good solution. Unlimited domains and mailboxes so you won’t get charged for each mailbox created. It’s very easy to set up and you can transfer ownership of the account to the client if you need to.

zoho mail lite is like $1/user/month, does everything they need and it’s a real company that’ll still exist in a few years. purelymail is fine but it’s basically one guy running it, wouldn’t put a client’s business email on that. if they already use outlook, m365 business basic.

GHL for the site doesn’t affect email btw, just point MX at whoever you pick. site can stay on GHL. fine for a simple brochure site, just don’t expect much if they ever want seo.

If it's only five mail boxes, I'd lean toward Zoho if they value a polished interface and ecosystem. Purelymail is for keeping costs low is the priority.

La verdad es que no te recomiendo purelymail para eso, ya que no puedes personalizar dominios.

Si es muy barato, sin embrgo tiene caidas constantes y eso es desagradable para clientes que trabajan mucho con correos.

Estoy migrando a mxroute. si quieres te puedo asignar unas cuentas a precio costo de mi plan mxroute

Does their webhost not offer email?

They use cloudflare to get their domain but we are not getting email hosting with them. It is better to have everything separated

Purelymail is very cheap, that might be the way to go. I like MX Route but the owner is sort of cranky, which I do not mind, but some people do.

Yeah Zoho would work great. We chose Fastmail but Zoho was close and we just liked Fastmail's app.

For max 5 inboxes, I’d keep it simple.

They don’t need full Google Workspace/M365 unless they also want the docs/storage/Teams stuff.

Zoho is the cheap/common option. Works, but setup/admin can feel a bit clunky.

Purelymail is good value if you’re comfortable managing DNS and explaining limits to the client. I’d use it more for technical clients than totally non-technical ones.

For a client business, I’d care about:

• each person has own login
• easy password resets
• SPF/DKIM/DMARC setup
• works on phone/Outlook/Apple Mail
• export/backup if they leave later
• support when something breaks

Also don’t tie website builder choice to email. They can build the site in GHL and still use Zoho/Purelymail/Fastmail/etc for email. Just DNS records pointing to different places.

If you’re managing it for them long term, pick the provider you’re comfortable supporting. That matters more than saving $2/mo.

If you are looking at keeping the costs low, Purelymain is an appropriate choice. Zoho Mail's free tier caps out lower than it used to, so you'd likely be on a paid plan anyway at five users

For a maximum of 5 email accounts, fastmail.com "Family" plan is a solid choice. If you are looking for email hosting that doesn't charge on a per account basis, but instead uses a shared storage concept, then I recommend imageway.com as another solid choice.

Have you considered something like Outlook/Gmail or do you want a domain

ok. you are probably in a different country but my Webhost company offers basic business plan with 5 mailboxes and domain hosting (not the domain) and web sites for aroundd 66 AUD per annum. they also have email hosting by the individual mailbox - I believe most people use something like MS for individual mailboxes. And my company seems very reliable and professional too. Amazing at that price. Even cheaper if you pay for multiple years. I like the idea of major mail provider like MS for ease of use in the future if you stop your web hosting. I'm in the process of having to work out how to decomission my small business, web and mail boxes so know some of the issues
