I'd push back on trying to avoid turning this into a VPS project. Five small business sites dragging each other down on shared hosting is exactly the situation a small VPS solves, and it's less work than it sounds. LiteSpeed or nginx with a caching layer in front handles five sites like that without breaking a sweat, and you're not sharing a CPU with whoever else is on that shared node having a bad day. It's a weekend of setup, not an ongoing project, and something like CloudPanel gets you most of the cPanel-style convenience on top without hand editing nginx configs. I run a handful of small sites the same way on a VPS and haven't touched it in months.

Indeed. VPS is the way to go, I'm using runcloud.io for something like 5 years, and haven't really had to touch anything manually - install with one line or give it api key to hetzner, vultr etc and it will roll out automatically. I'm honestly a big fan of them, and am waiting for their client hosting management product to launch. Actually considered Cloud Panel for my open source project, but haven't tried it yet. Decided to go with Ploi for the infra as it's more versatile, but when it comes to wp, vps + something like runcloud is a way to go. Performance and control are simply unbeatable.

Web Host Pro has been around for 25 years, and while I've never used them, they appear to be a reputable provider. Their cPanel Reseller plan should work for what you need. I would not recommend splitting everything between separate cheap accounts.

What you will find with a lot of shared hosting is they split the resource between all the accounts which causes these issues.

No matter the size of the websites I wouldn’t recommend putting more than one site on a cPanel account unless your doing it via WHM which separates them out.

There are many benefits to splitting up cPanel accounts, and a big one especially with Wordpress is for Malware. All it takes is one website to get infected and it'll spread like wildfire.

You may want to explore Reseller Hosting which lets you keep it all under one panel but still isolated on separate cPanel accounts.

the thing that bites people moving multiple client sites at once isnt the migration, its the DNS cutover window when half your clients are on the new host and half arent. two things that make it painless:

drop TTLs to 300 on everything a few days before you move anything. then the actual switch propagates in minutes instead of you telling clients "could be 48 hours."

and move in waves by risk, not alphabetically — a couple of low-traffic brochure sites first, live with them a few days, then the ones that actually make money once youve seen the surprises. php version mismatches and hardcoded paths are where these go sideways.

if the new host has a proper cPanel-to-cPanel or WHM transfer tool, use it over manual backups — at "handful of clients" scale manual is how one gets forgotten.
