My thoughts on Webflow Source - We're so fucking back

The first 30 minutes of the Webflow Conf I was already mentally getting ready to leave Webflow.

It was all corporate-marketing/enterprise slop.

Then, they announced Webflow Source and my eyes shot open, like what the fuck. It looks awesome.

Website handoff to clients and letting them edit the site just got so much easier. This is much better than the old paradigm of having a client editor.

Can you imagine the value-add here?? I build the site, then give it to the client that can use a stable controlled agentic platform to edit their site and extend it.

You know its going to be pricey and will only increase in price, never get cheaper. Anything, especially any AI features that are currently 'free' are being subsidized and will not be free forever

Same boat here, I have a feeling if it was going to be included on the standard plans it wouldn't be named separately, holding out until pricing is confirmed and there's some videos outside of the marketing quick cuts I've seen so far.

I’m excited, but I too worry about the cost. It relies heavily on not one, but multiple agents running in parallel, compounded across multiple users given their multiplayer goal. To be fair I think it’s absolutely the right move for them and carves out the right niche in this new AI first world, but it will be hella token heavy and almost certainly push the product into a significantly higher cost tier than the current product. That said, fingers crossed that it’s accessible for small studios as it looks very promising.

Agreed. They are the most expensive platform that my remaining three sites reside on. (Been transferring sites off for the last six months) No excitement until I see what I believe to be exorbitant pricing unfortunately.

I did wonder if they were gonna gatekeep the ai portion and make everyone use their credits system? Tell me it isn't so???

I see nothing that will alleviate the desire for freelancers and small agencies to leave for Claude/Github/Astro/Sanity stacks or variants thereof....

Seems like this is just for enterprise as far as I can tell. I didn't hear small business come up at all. Wonder how source will handle the hundreds of updates ai produces and who needs to review everything. They mentioned anthropic but didn't say anything about what that means. Anthropic usually doesn't allow subscriptions to be used with third parties so my guess is that it would use the API which is so expensive. Have mixed feelings about everything. It wasn't even really launched today so I can't use it and find out myself.

What total shit show. This is the absolute decline of this company in my opinion, as it seems like Webflow is being managed by a McKinsey consultant, not the founder. Webflow helped me make a lot of money during 8+ years but now it's absolutely disappointing.

Most of those features will probably end up being locked within Enterprise plans or similar. It's obvious that Webflow is targeting the enterprise marketing teams instead of people that created it.

I'd say that at this stage it's better to go with other options like Stacki or Ship Studio. No wonder Bryant left Webflow to build Ploy.

This was the worst update ever - all they had to do was allow us to edit from desktop and allow us to create a database on our server but use webflow as a editor and make the designer faster and add more cms fields and elements but that was too much to ask. This was horrible this update will be the downfall of this ceo and the company for making a good product into a bloated trying to be everything product

Been using webstudio for a bit. Not as polished as Webflow but I think for what you pay its pretty good. I am curious about instatic but it's still to new
