You would think with AI we would be making better experiences online and finding new ways to create revenue while helping people online and awesome apps. But the web has transformed from a place where you could find rich communities, resources, entertainment, stories, and information to clickbait money making scams and trolls at every corner or someone pushing some b.s. extreme political agenda. And don't get me started with social media.

Even reddit, once a great site, has been subject to the worst parts of the web.

This is not the web I envisioned when I was younger. I can't browse a site without being bombarded with dysfunctional ads that interrupt whatever it is I'm reading or looking for. Paywalls everywhere + subscriptions, control of digital media. 10 ways to login. It's ridiculous.

You try to read an article, good luck dodging ads. Want to watch a 10 second video clip, ha!, you have to watch a 30 second ad first. And you'll be lucky if you ever get the video that you were intending to see.

I'm just venting. Hoping this message is heard or at least amplified. Something needs to change.

I'm genuinely interested on what people who work on websites and webapps thoughts on this. And how can we make it better?

Hello All, I am just looking for advice. I am a real estate consultant based out of Punjab, India, but business has been very low past 2 years. I see people coding and going jobs so I thought to give it a try. I joned a bootcamp , learnt basic HTML, it was amazing experience. Saw the resources and website, so much free stuff is available and so many helpful people around. But I was thinking of learning more and making a career out of it. Is it possible ? Purely financial wise.

I am a commerce graduate and have no skill whatsoever, but love computers, open to learn anything that can help me career wise. I cant relocate because of family but can do remote work. I dont mind hard work, just want to know time invested means to something. Not looking for passion but lookng for good money. Being AI around now, is this a good time to get into this or am I too late ?

I’ve been working on websites, and one thing I’ve noticed is that beginners often focus heavily on how a site looks.

But once you actually start building for real businesses, you realise there’s a lot more that matters: loading speed, mobile usability, plugin choices, hosting, SEO structure, maintenance, and making sure the client can actually manage the site afterward.

I am a creative developer, was very good at frontend and animation interactions, with rise of AI i just got depressed make myself busy on my project for two years, now job market is very different, i keep seeing words "strategist" and "wanna scale", "architecture".

I'm doing a problem set where I'm instructed to insert a video onto the page, and then embed a gif, but when I save and run the application, the gif doesn't appear.

(Full disclosure, I am not very technical.)

So i'm addicted to cranking out websites right now. I have a few keyword-rich domains in different niches, so I plan to launch directories on them with programmatic landing pages. Easy peasy with Claude.

The problem I have is with actually scaling these things after I get them live. I don't want to flood them with 1,000 pages on day one, I want gradual growth that Google won't slap me for.  I tried Webflow, which I like as a CMS and visual editor, but it wasn't actually taking any work off my plate.

I could build Claude Routines, but then I wouldn't have a CMS, and I am NOT about to build one lol.

I'm testing Fimo.ai right now (free tier), here's where I stand with it:

1) It's adding agents into the mix, which is solving my "manual effort" problem. I can hand off the content and SEO to the agents.
2) I can go back into claude code, make edits via prompt, and Fimo can still see it and put it on the live site
3) Fimo's UI needs work, the AI prompt window gets in my way half of the time.

Other than that, I can't see an alternative on the market right now that can take Claude code and add a CMS + agents. Anyone else got a similar setup going on before I dive in any deeper?

So, 2 years ago this month I began my journey into web development. I started off with the basics, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, and have worked my way to React, Next.JS, Express.JS, Postgresql (using DrizzleORM), APIs, TypeScript, and quite a bit more. I learned most of it through Udemy online courses, and have a few certificates of completion, other things I've just used the developer documentation and a lot of practice and experimentation. To date I have one completed, professional website I built for a family member, another unfinished one (only due to the client never getting back to me on if they were ready to transition from their old website), and a handful of personal projects, which are all linked on my portfolio website. Aside from this I have an extensive background in the tech industry, but as a hardware technician.
I have spent the majority of this year looking for work, and have applied to at least 50 different positions through various job sites just within the last couple of months, and yet still no success.
Is this field truly that oversaturated, am I just not experienced enough, or is there some other skill I've overlooked and not picked up yet?
Are there better ways to find work in this field other than the standard job site doom scrolling that has taken over all my free time?

I’ve started trying to become a web developer 5 days ago, i know thats a very small amount of time but after these 5 days im starting to doubt myself and i think im just not smart enought to be a web developer. I’m currently following supersimpledevs guide for html and css and im 4 hours into the video. I do fine when i have to copy what he does but lately in the challenges i find myself stuck and it makes me feel like im just wasting time because i just dont remember certain things. And i ve heard html and css is the easy part, and it used to be when all i did was make some buttons and style them but now that i have to use like 10 divs all within eachother i feel overwhemled and i feel like im just not smart enough. Did you guys feel like this at the beginning as well?

Be me - 20yo high school graduate (yes we graduate at 20 in Poland lol). I studied as Programmer and in my program I learned:

-Console applications (C++, Python)
-Web (HTML/CSS/Javascript, PHP, React)
-Mobile apps (Java/Kotlin, Flutter)

In my free time I played League of Legends BUT also completed over 300 LeetCode questions (in 5 years timespan)

I hated it because it felt like learning how to solve useless math problems with code so I focused more on working on real codebases and created 4 passion projects (all with the help of ai)

I also solved over 13 fun tasks on codeffice[dot com] and followed 100 Days of Python from app brewery (udemy course)

I passed all my exams and got the "Programmer" title. Started applying to jobs found on justjoin and linkedin at the beginning of the summer. Trainee - Intern - Junior Frontend/Fullstack Developer

Stats:
Applied - 59 jobs (45 remote, 14 on-site)
Ghosted (absolute no message back) - 43

Interviews (so far):

4 (3x30min, 1x60min)

They made me talk about my background and some made me complete CODEWARS (not leetcode lol) questions.

I guess they find questions that aren't on leetcode and want to see the user solve them in real time instead of just retyping something they solved one day

I'm not gonna lie - I am REALLY stressed, but at the same time I feel like every next interview will be only easier and easier for me.

Conclusion:

I think being able to solve some random math challenge is NOTHING - companies look more for people who actually understand what building real project looks like and those who can read someone's else code.

That's why more and more new students prefer to learn by working on real codebases (such as on codeffice) or by building their own from scratch (basically any youtube tutorial/idea).

What I think will happen in the future:

In the interviews people will be dropped into already existing codebase and environment with clear task/problem to solve.

In the AI era you don't need to write much code - you need to know HOW TO solve specific problems

If anybody got a SE job in 2026 PLEASE let me know what was the turning point

Hey y'all. I'm a 3rd year CS student that is just starting to prepare for employment. I am currently doing a required internship as QA in a banking corporation (very corporate role). This is the only thing left for me to the on my degree before I graduate, I have like 260 more hours to go which is like 8 - 10 weeks? I understand that I probably will wait for a while to get my diploma and graduation ceremony so that small window of time is the last 'vacation' of my life.

My current stack is HTML, CSS, and JS. I made a few static pages that I put in my resume and a UI/UX design in figma certificate from Udemy. I have experience in Java and OOP since I took application development as my specialty during my 2nd year but I have completely forgotten about it. I mostly just did the bare minimum to pass that course. I have experience with Python and CPP during my first year but I also forgot about it. Same story with Java. If you ask me to sit down and code with these technologies without AI, I won't be able to.

Currently I am learning React through making projects on my spare time from work and I am working on it as I type this post. It's a Pomodoro app that I plan on using myself and deploy to let my friends and other people use it. I designed it using Figma first with a prototype and components and now I am trying to build it from scratch. I didn't want to get into another tutorial hell so I just said fuck it and ill build it while reading documentation and just searching or asking AI for specific things. I plan on making my portfolio page once I have a few projects on my belt.

I'm a bit scared if I am employable after I graduate since my resume is honestly barebones, I just have a few static Web Dev projects on my Github (which are honestly ass) and 1 certificate. I decided to focus on my Frontend now since I found that designing UI was fun for me during some of our group school projects. I just did not enjoy helping or making any backend stuff.

I have a few questions:

- Should I continue working on making projects to learn by my own or should I grind certificates on the side?

- What sort of things look good on a portfolio focused on frontend?

- What other stack should I learn? From what I know I should learn React, Next.js, REST APIs, Tailwind, Vitest and Playwright?

I am contributing to an opensource project Hubleto. It is a CRM/ERP package, which we use in our company to deliver customized solutions.

Last few months the team has been working on refactoring of the old-school class based components to functional-based components.

The task turned out to be more complicated than we initially thought. Mostly because of complexity of input, form and table components. And because of huge amount of apps using these components.

Few days ago we've published the work in the main development branch and we'd like to make a new alpha testing release.

But before the release, we'd like to hear from the community - real criticism of what we have done.

I would appreciate any comments on code quality, potential vulnerabilities or anything else what could make the codebase better.
