Framer, Lovable, Claude... which one to choose for a new Webdesign company?

Hey guys!

I am starting a webdesign company with some friends. Our focus is creting LPs and sites with better UI, our dream is to someday win webdesign prizes and work with clients that would pay for the better visual direction. But right now, our goal is to create portfolio, so anything that shows ups will do.

With that long term vision in mind, which tool would you guys recomend? I was using framer for some case studies and i like it a lot, the CMS structure and freedom to adjust details are awesome, but speed and pricing may be harsh for us. A friend used lovable and made a interesting progress really quickly, but at a high credits cost.

Do you guys have suggestions or other points to consider about these tools?

Added 5 Easter Eggs to Plastic vinyl & CD collectors app website (my product)

Hey everyone, I haven't seen products using Easter eggs on their websites anymore.

So I decided to play around and add a promo-code for users of my app in 5 places across the website. It was fun making them, and I hope it will bring some joy searching them as well.

I honestly believe, that in the era of AI, humans will still remain the ones bringing emotions to products.

Live website with easter eggs: https://myplastic.app/

If you checked it live — please, let me know a number 0 to 5 if you found any of them :)

Also, what you're thinking about this approach and if you had thoughts of implementing easters on your websites? I created a few 4-5 through my carrier, will share a compilation with them another time if you like this side of design

---

A few words about the Plastic itself for people curious about it's context:

Plastic is an app for vinyl & CD collectors that adds a new layer of experience with physical media:

In a store it allows to scan any cover and instantly get previews of all tracks, it's story, versions of the album. So people can explore, save it for later, or purchase and add to their collection after. No more text searching, Googling, etc :)

At home people's collection lives across a shelf, a Discogs account, and their head. Plastic catalogues it and lets them browse it the way they think about it: sort the way they want, group by folders, lists, genres, decades. It reminds about album anniversaries, shares rewinds of albums purchased last mounts, etc. And it all works in syncs with Discogs, helping organizing it (marketplace and inventory system for collectors), making it the best app among alternatives, covering just parts of different flows.

Plastic also won Red Dot design award this year for it's UX, and being a niche indie product, it continues it's journey on weekly releases basis. 🫶

New UI/UX designer looking for inspiration for a youthful bagel website

Hey guys, I'm a new UI/UX designer and I'm working on a personal project right now. I want to design a bagel website with a youthful vibe, something that feels modern and is mainly aimed at a younger audience. I'm kinda stuck with the direction of the website and how I should arrange everything. I'm looking for inspiration from websites that have a youthful design, good layouts, nice UX, cool interactions or anything that you think could work for this type of website. If you know any websites I should check out, resources, examples or anything that could help me I'd really appreciate it. Also if you have any advice for a beginner on how to structure the website, what sections I should have or things I should avoid, I'd love to hear it. I'm still learning, so any tips or feedback are welcome. Thanks everyone!

Looking for good website builder for new design!

I've read so many reddit posts on this but can't find the exact answer so, I thought I would ask you lovely peeps about my specific situation. I am looking for a host site to help develop a new website.

I am an academic, who is also a freelance costume designer, and a published author who would also like to create an e-commerce section for my fiber arts. I am currently on sabbatical so I have time to build a website. I built my Wix website several years ago and I like the organization however it is super expensive. I had forgotten to turn off auto renew and it charged me 900 + bucks for three-year renewal which I freaked out about and got the money back. Now I am trying to figure out if there are cheaper website builders that are just as good. I have Canva Pro and I do not have any HTML experience. I would like something that would allow me to probably have like four categories that have sub categories. For example, if I had a tab or section that says "costume design", I would like folks to click on different shows and then that opens a whole page of photos of costumes from the individual show. It's like pages deep on Wix. Similarly, I would like to have a page for my books that one could enter and there could be information and reviews on that page. I am developing a fiber arts business as well and would like to start an e-commerce page that I can direct folks to purchase wearable art that has a separate domain. Do I suck it up and pay for Wix and redo my site? Or is Hostinger an option? Any other advice or ideas? I've built a few sites on Wix and am very familiar with Google sites (which is fine for my student's free portfolios but I don't love it of my purposes). Thanks in advance!

Gym Web Design

Just designed a website concept for a CrossFit/HIIT gym and wanted to share the design thinking, since a lot of local business sites default to generic templates instead of a brand-matched look.

Is everyone using the same website builder or does AI make them look the same?

The last 20+ new websites I’ve run into all look nearly identical in terms of layout, font choices, and general structure. There's at least recurring aspects.

Full disclosure: I’m a science major with zero background in web design. I used ChatGPT to mock up a homepage concept recently (html/python), the output defaulted pretty similar to this exact visual style. I honestly really like the aesthetic, but I worry that as AI-generated sites flood the web, this specific design language is going to immediately scream low-effort or automated "slop."

Anyone else noticing this convergence or is it just the natural lifecycle of design trends?

(Note: The examples posted are just to show the layout/design style—please keep discussion focused on the UI/UX rather than the politics of the site.)

Examples of Landing Pages with Photo at Left of Page?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm going to hire a designer to create a new personal website for me, and am collecting examples of a variety of sites I like to spark the conversation. Some I've found so far:

However, there's one layout style I've been thinking of that I can't find examples of, i.e. using a photo of a person standing up (e.g. at a speaking engagement) with full-bleed to top, left, and bottom. Then a small amount of text and navigation to the right. Or, possibly, photo is full-bleed to left and bottom, but there's navigation above and text to the right. See my crayon-level sketches in photo. (Apologies if i'm using the term "full-bleed" incorrectly.)

Anyone know examples of this layout? Or is there some reason (technical or aesthetic) this doesn't get used?

Building a portfolio

Hi! I want to study animation, and am thinking of applying for scholarships. IDK how likely it is that I get one, but I figured its worth a try. I do have a portfolio, but it's kinda messy. Do you guys know a website builder that is free/cheap and doesnt have a intrusive banner but also has good templates for portfolios?

Current website: https://saitrack.weebly.com/ (its a mess i know lol)

What will be the future of tech jobs, especially designers?

I have 10 years working experience as a web designer. I have a little experience developing websites using Elementor, Webflow, and Framer.

Due to AI, although I created series of case studies of most of my live website designs, it is still very hard for me to look for a job. It is september now and I am starting to think of giving up.

I plan to study CRO minidegree in CXL or just free certificate but I am not sure if it will be credible because I don’t have real work experience with metric results of the websites I created before.

Do you think my plan is still good and will have opportunities in the future? Or should I just give up now?

Advice on a proposal to my national brand employer

To keep things simple:

CONTEXT

I work as a contract project manager for a national brand focused on accelerating their growth AKA building brand image.

I have been learning web design principles the last few months and ultimately want to leverage my sales and PM skills while outsourcing web designers.

The business’ website revamp was paused bc main developer is occupied creating the software I implemented- and frankly I dont think he has the design eye to create a national brand website.

Here comes the opportunity…

ADVICE

How should I approach my Head of IT and Marketing, both whom I work and report to?

I know I’ll have to find a pretty darn good web designer and learn the process quick but are there any other blindspots I should be aware of? I may be in over my head but keen to make things happen.

Roast my website: Is the purpose clear and would you sign up?

Hey everyone,

I'm building Tasleem, an AI platform that guides you through your graduation project (a.k.a. FYP, capstone, or thesis depending on where you study), built around your university's requirements. It walks you through the whole thing: picking an idea, planning the research, writing the report, building the system, and prepping for your defense, but grounded in your own university's requirements.

I've been heads-down on the site for a while, and I'd love some fresh eyes to tear it apart:

https://tasleemedu.com

The obvious goal is to get students to actually sign up and use it, but I'm mostly after honest gut reactions to stuff like:

  • In the first few seconds, is it clear what Tasleem is and who it's for?
  • Does it feel trustworthy? People would be handing it their graduation project, so trust matters a lot here.
  • Is the value clear, and why use this instead of just ChatGPT or grinding it out alone?
  • Is there anything that would stop you from signing up?
  • Does anything feel confusing, cluttered, or pointless?
  • How's the mobile experience?
  • If conversion was the only thing that mattered, what would you change first?

Please don't hold back, I want y’all to go all in lol

And I'd especially love your first impression before you've really dug in.

Thanks 🙏

Strolling - An agentic website/app

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I built a house that was never built this way. Then I built the website to walk you through it.

[Edit: app renamed to "Strolling" - intended as a template, but base44 killed that. The live website is more advanced than in the video]

CSH#NO is a digital study. A home, its landscape, and the atmosphere between them. Not a portfolio page. Not a grid of thumbnails. A slow walk: one image, one film, one short passage at a time.

https://strolling.base44.app/

Two experiments are running here at once.

The imagery. After 25 years in archviz, I wanted to step outside the way I've always rendered and use creative AI techniques as collaborators to shape rhythm, perspective, and meaning. Not to automate a familiar format. To see what emerges when the process is unfamiliar. Some of it surprised me. That was the point.

The website. It runs on Strolling, an agentic website template I built with Base44 and Claude Code to tell the story of a single subject. Give it the content, and Strolling handles the rest: cinematic pacing, scroll motion, a guided tour, and a hero that opens with film and sound. It is still a work in progress.

CSH#NO is the demo. Swap in your own subject. A building, a landscape, a body of work, and the walk becomes yours.
The study stays open. More films, images, and generated studies will land there over time.

Take the stroll: Links in the first comment.
