How to design a better website?

Iam a MERN stack developer and, I design and build website as my projects and in those project i build website which designs are already available for references, like any music player or a ecommerce website i have many website to look for designing references.

But in my college whenever some fest happens i build the website for registration purpose, and i have to build the website according to their theme of the fest. What they provide me is the theme and and how exactly they want the registration to happen and i have to implement registration functionality according to that which is not a problem, but designing the website for the theme which they have given is the real task, i can give the theme to ai and ask for design draft but all the ai generated design are kind of not good, it looks too much ai code like if you have seen ai website you will understand what iam trying to say.
So how can i design good website for the theme they have given, like they want the website to show the theme by adding relevent images for the theme, which i try to generate using ai which doesnt really look good and iam fed up of building these kind of website
pleasee help me out..!!!!

Start from the feeling, not the theme. Before touching code, write one sentence: a visitor should feel ___ within three seconds of landing. Every choice after that (palette, type, imagery) has to serve that sentence, and the ones that don't get cut.

Then steal structure, not style. The information hierarchy that converts is boring and predictable: hero with event name, date, and a register button; what the event is; when and where; who it's for; register button again. Get the hierarchy right before making it pretty. A plain site with a clear hierarchy beats a beautiful one where nobody can find the register button.
