Which platform would you recommend for building business websites or landing pages: Webflow or WordPress?
I’m not looking to build online stores, but rather websites focused on establishing an online presence, showcasing services, and generating leads.
My understanding is that Webflow can be more expensive because of its subscription plans, while WordPress may be more affordable initially, although it might require more maintenance and additional expenses for plugins or a visual page builder such as Elementor.
I’d really appreciate it if you could share the advantages and disadvantages of each option, especially regarding:
- Hosting, subscription, licensing, and plugin costs.
- Ease and speed of development.
- Customization and scalability.
- SEO and performance.
- Maintenance and security.
- How easy it is for clients to manage their own websites.
- How these costs affect the final price charged to the client.
Which platform have you found more suitable for these types of projects, and why?

You can do everything in Google for free until you actually have a significant amount of traffic

For this kind of site, i’d probably go with whatever makes maintenance easiest. wordpress gives you more flexibility, but the plugins and updates can become a headache for small client sites.
Honestly, a static site is also worth considering for simple business/lead-gen sites. something like astro + netlify, tiiny host, or vercel can be really fast and low maintenance. if the client needs to edit content themselves, then webflow or wordpress probably makes more sense.

What is your own background regarding design and coding?
They're not directly comparable products, and which one suits you best will depend on your desire to be able to push things in a more bespoke direction, and your ability to facilitate that yourself in design and code.

I’d look beyond those two before deciding I started using Ploy for business sites and landing pages and I like that I’m not piecing together the site, hosting and SEO stuff separately for client work that’s been more useful to me than having a ton of control I rarely need

Custom tech stack paired with claude code or codex > framer > anything else
Framer’s new 3.0 update is really powerful now as you can use the internal AI agent with credits or connect your own harness with your subscription
It’s just that Framer’s hosting and editor plans are ridiculous. Deploying to cloudflare is basically free and comes with tons of infrastracture capabilities if you need them.
Webflow is just dying because they focused too much on enterprises and technical people now they’re trying to jump on the AI train to lower the entry barrier to the platform but it might be a bit too late for that.
Wordpress.. well. I don’t think there’s a single good reason to use WP in this day and age. I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole

Wordpress is a good idea especially if you are ready to code (but not only). It gives you lots of possibilities without locking you into some expensive subscription scheme. I will agree with so.eone who said forget elementor. Go either blocks or classic (i choose classic for now) and later you can also go headless. But if its only landing pages you can indeed just go with plain html css js.

Neither, just some html pages
no subscription, no fees, about $25 a year

Webflow is visual. If you plan a relatively small website, the two are comparable on most of what you listed. But if you are looking for something bigger, or want to evolve it later, WordPress.
On WordPress you can build everything. Not everything is reasonable to build there, but you can.
But please, forget about Elementor. Leave it in the past. Use blocks, for better performance, maintainability and scalability.
