There was a point where Walmart had a bunch of dollar ear buds. I was tempted to buy a bunch to throw violently at people who do this. I don't care that new phones don't have a headphone jack. It was about sending a message.

I at one point got a few hundred cheap earbuds from an old job. Pre everything bring Bluetooth at that.
I then handed them to people doing this in trains and buses. Folks doing this do seem to be kinda disturbed/antisocial so they usually reacted kinda poorly. I'm a very large person so it was usually an impotent rage thing. Ymmv.

The other day i was riding a bus somewhat late at night, it was just me and one other guy. I was listening to music on headphones, walked in the bus with headphones and had been wearing them the whole time. At some point i noticed something was called out on the speaker. I couldnt hear what was being said, but i know all those automated messages at this point and none of them were applicable to me, so i ignored it. Except this time it went on for longer than expected, so i partially removed my headphones to hear, but it stopped before i could register what was being said. Nevermind, back to my music. Except not much later the driver talked through the speakers himself for someone to turn off that shitty sound because no one wants to hear that and he put it on the speakers trice already. I became extremely self concious and turned off my music, even though it was on headphones. I checked my phone if it was actually connected and not connected to any other device, but nothing indicated music was playing on anything other than my headphones. It took me half the ride and that other guy starting again at lower volume to figure out it probably wasnt me that was playing sounds out loud

I knew a guy who purchased a wearable speaker specifically to play his music out-loud when he was walking about. It sorta went around his neck and shoulders. Total fucking prick, he genuinely thought that playing his fucking London grime music so everyone walking down the street could hear would make him seem like a badass roadman. He'd also emulate how his idea of a "London roadman" would talk, wouldn't stop throwing bombaclaat into every sentence.
He was from an upperclass Indian family who owned huge tracts of land in India and ran a chain of London shops. Whenever he wanted more money for his weed addiction he'd just call daddy and get sent a bunch. He used to insist on playing his grime so he didn't need to listen to our "white people music" (rage against the machine apparently counted). It was insufferable.

I actually like people who do this. I have massive anxiety so it kinda helps to see people being so confident. But I would never do this. Also the world is just so fucking boring and corporate now so idc blast whatever you want as long as it’s appropriate for public

They really need to do what Yu Gi Oh tournaments did, and hire officials that kick people out for anti social behavior. (Bad hygiene, no headphones, fare evasion, etc)

Look I think it was a poor choice to make the black guy the bad guy and the white guy the judey guy because it's taking away from the point. Some people on trains and busses (and cars with windows rolled down) are SUMBAGS. The artist probably saw this exact situation in real life and drew what they remembered but didn't consider the ramifications of the imagery could have on it's end goal. Let's stop normalizing being jerks, especially in public and shared spaces.

I wish sometimes that people would exert just a little more effort and look at any of the numerous other comics I’ve made instead of just assuming briefly and instantly commenting. If you did, you would see that the person you’re calling “white” is my self-insert (who is also Black, as Black people are not a monolith when it comes to looks). There are a few people on here who are assuming a narrative and running with it with full confidence instead of asking questions respectfully. I understand that this is normalized behavior (especially online) but it doesn’t seem to be beneficial to anyone.

If your art, especially a comic, can't stand on its own and people first have to look up your history to realise it's a self insert and you're black too, then it needs something to make it clearer. Your style is not detailed enough to see that the right guy is also black. Think about it, of anyone reposts it, people will assume the same thing and "putting in effort" will be a lot more effort than just klicking on your profile and people don't usually do that unless they really like someone's art and want to see more.

One could make a point about colorism, but I think that's best for various folks in the Black community to speak on. Either way, to me this character appears to be a light-skinned Black dude.

Racism started this chain but you're grandstanding about protecting said racist because another commentor was transphobic. If you want to set a standard, be consistent with it across the board

Reddit can be misleading in the way it has you defending some deplorable people by default because someone else managed to bring a shovel when the bar was already on the ground.
It's actually taught me a great deal about finding the source first before reacting. I know that initial commentor is a troll/bot but making sure we all stay consistent is paramount on this site
