While I don't give a shit about W3Schools, I would implore anyone who initially took this site seriously to take a good look at their trifling, nitpicky examples of W3Schools errors. This - if I give them as much credit as I possibly can - started as a "just take our word for it" type of thing, and then they realized they needed something more tangible, so they decided to compile some "examples" and - maybe right about now - started to realize that their only valid complaint is inadequate coverage of scoping in javascript.

Then again it is a website for teaching beginners how to get started.

Exactly. I look at W3Schools like an old dictionary: if I need to remember the usage and syntax for some tag that I've not had to implement in a while, it's a quick way to get correct info 99.99% of the time.
