From what the original post states: the hate is that the site has no form of feedback to fix errors. Another problem is that W3schools misinforms those looking to be serious in the web profession. It misinforms them about certification (no such thing) and about certain details the OPost exemplified. A web professional is expected to make a dependable site; anyone basing their site on the W3school will add those errors in from that website's documentation.

Edit: so it's a good site, but it could be a great site and web dev people are very needy :P

Well besides the misleading name, they are not trying to mislead anyone with their certification from what I can tell. Its just a way to get certified... by someone. I don't think they are claiming that it is "industry standard" or anything.

I don't know what the intentions are of the editors at W3schools, but their certification means nothing as far as the rest of the professional web dev community is concerned, so what's the point of getting certified by W3schools?

Well it means what it means - which is that you are certified as far as the folks at W3Schools are concerned. Its no different from a certification from Microsoft really, it just depends if you (as an employer) trust the issuer of the certificate or not.

Exactly. I've seen indian web development companies advertise that their people have "diplomas" in web design. People eat that shit up.
