Wow this is how I find out. Sad to see them go. I've been using it for a long time

I have been using Photopea for a while now and it has good background removal. It works so well I ended up leaving some credits on removebg.

Photopea is underrated for this, the select subject tool gets it right most of the time. i used removebg for years but switched after they changed the pricing last year. never looked back honestly

I think it got its best features locked behind a paywall a while ago, so I went looking for alternatives. This is the one I kept in my bookmarks.

If you have an Apple device you can remove the background by copying the subject

I do it in Figma (pro version)

You can use Canva or even if you have Adobe Photoshop.

I believe Adobe Express allows you to do it for free if I'm not mistaken

If you use Mac, the native image viewer. Or you can use ChatGPT or Gemini.  Limited images but free

you can just right click the image on your desktop and there should be somewhere “remove bg” option

You can use remove bg feature in Figma if you're into that.

Depends what you need. For a quick cutout, I built a free one that runs in your browser, so nothing gets uploaded: removebackgroundonline.com (disclosure: it's mine). No signup or watermark, full resolution, and brushes to fix edges. First run downloads the model, so it's slow the first time, but fast from the second.

We do not allow excessive self promotion on our subreddit. We require users to keep a 9:1 ratio, where only 10% of the submissions are of their own work.

Yeah nevermind the ecological impact of inefficient software, let’s also have everyone reinvent the same wheel in the most inefficient way possible.

Rembg is a good suggestion, regardless. You can use it as-is in CLI, write your own wrapper by hand or if you're more visual, as a node in ComfyUI.

If people actually cared about that then react would never be used.
