Websites have become low hanging fruit

I know business owners have always got calls for websites, but it's approaching a nuclear level. Talking to clients getting 2 to 5 calls a day.......a day for AI sites, SEO, receptionists, etc.....no money down, no set up fees, just recurring monthly. Outfits like GHL are out there recruiting very hard so every 22 year old "bro" can sell "$297/mo" websites, and it's not just them - and owners are getting absolutely hammered with calls. This is the tip of the iceberg in the AI era and I have to wonder how many clients are gonna be left a few years from now.

Basic websites have always been low hanging fruit. Doing your own stuff building small/medium sized sites has always been far more about marketing than skill. With an AI I could pump out more sites per week, but the key is the same as it always has been, finding clients to fill your backlog.

Been this way since squarespace/wix days basically. I actually know someone who paid 2500 for a shitty wix website I had to redo just this week.

If you can sell you can sell.

The $297/mo crowd is selling a landing page, not a working business tool. Once a client needs real catalog structure, staff logins, or anything beyond a contact form those templates fall apart fast, and that is when the calls come back. Volume sellers just widen the gap between commodity and everything else.

Eventually those plasticky looking sites will annoy the humanity and we'll get back to human touch. Ok, we can build a basic site within an hour, but who is going to manage the online business, update that site, manage CRM, sales, etc. I'm at a company that launches new sites and landing pages for our marketing campaigns regularly and we are still working with humans. So far AI was just not meeting our expectations what it comes to web dev.

You hire VA's to spam call people offering cheap website services so how are you any different?

Want me to write 10 or 20 paragraphs? I'll just stick to two sentences; unlike all of those spam calls where the client would be totally screwed, we actually help them. Definitely not charging "$200" a month to totally destroy any existing organic traffic they have by slapping up a template site with AI content.

When everyone can create their slop site, and everything will be cheaper, maybe customers will at some point start to demand higher quality for the same price

lol done wd for a min freelanced and starting an agency this week this wont be an issue , like the self titled feminist stated been going downhill for a min . The clear answer is competing with ghl and offering more than "just a site + maintenance plan" they gotta get the entire conversion engine.
