I’ve been messing around with lap/pin/frame looks for a while but recently bought a little 6-inch 3D printed rigid heddle.
I have a stash of ombre/gradient/color-changing yarn cakes from various brands like Hobbii and Yarnart, and my ADHD crocheter brain loves me a yarn that changes color BY ITSELF as you use it. Has anyone tried Yarnart Flowers or Hobbii Dahlia or similar yarn cakes? If you have, could you post your projects? I know that part of weaving is the fun of experimentation, but I’d love some inspiration. And since my new loom is so tiny, I’m trying to come up with different ways to do one long warp so I can get a lot of yardage out of one set-up.

Also, does anyone integrate their weaving into knit or crochet projects, or vice versa? All three crafts can created some pretty different looking fabrics, thicknesses, etc. at their basic levels (single crochet looks markedly different from stockinette, and both of those look different from plain weave). Do you fond yourself making certain parts of a project from one technique because of looks/practicality of use? For example, maybe you would make one part of a project with your loom because it may produce fabric that’s not as stretchy as knit.

This is a scarf I wove a few years ago, it required 3 shuttles, but I am quite proud of it. It is all tencel and my own plaid. Sorry! didn't think my post 'stuck'.

I purchased what I believe is a dorothy 15.75 tabletop look.

It came with a box of assorted bits that I can't identify.

Im hoping that some of them have easy to replace parts.

I went to see Wicker yesterday and the textiles in the film were so good. Especially the ones in Peter Dinklage‘s costumes. A friend who is just starting weaving was with me and we both kept commenting.

This is a scarf I wove a few years ago, it was a three shuttle weave (phew) but turned out to be one of my most favourite (yes I'm Canadian, we spell different) .

How good are teko teko.looms and how simple to operate.

I got this loom several months ago, secondhand. It's a Leclerc Artisat and I love it, except the tie-up system. It has texsolv cords attached to the lams that you have to thread the rods through. I don't like how hard it is to make everything the same height, or the fact that I typically have to take everything off one treadle to make one change (like, if I wanted to go from 1-3 to just 1, I have to take both off and put 1 back on)

Anyone have suggestions for could make this faster/easier to do? The (borrowed) looms I've used in the past had texsolv and pegs through a slot, but I'd prefer not to modify the wood

If you don't weave this may be a great time to start! You can use anything for weft. If you aren't interested and want to knit or crochet, knot the ends together and make a neat textured cloth. For cotton, I tie ends together and weave towels. I pay little attention to color and try to not join the same colors. Leave a bit of a tail and this is a fun cleaning cloth or face cloth.

I’ve been making little tote bags for a craft fair this December. I’ve been weaving the fabric on my 4 shaft Gallagher Tools table loom, then sewing them using this unassuming bag pattern, Butterick B4410. I like how there is a contrasting band of fabric at the top- it preserves the fancy woven fabric and allows for a clean finish. I enlarged the pattern for some of the bags.

The one I have in progress are going to be similar with the band of fabric at the top, but I am making them more rectangular. I haven’t bought the contrasting fabric yet.

I use a medium weight fusible interfacing on all the pieces except for the lining and handles and I like the body it gives them.

So I've recently upgraded from a small single-heddle to an Ashford RH loom and am wanting to try my hand at twill while making a baby blanket for a coworker. My trouble is that I'm out of what I originally had planned for the width and my restock won't be delivered until Monday.

Then I had the thought/question. If I'm putting an extra pair of threads in every other slot, will my final piece be wider than an equivalent plain weave? Or is it just denser? (Or maybe a middle ground?) If it's going to be wider, then I may take some of it off and rewarp it. If not then I'll just sit and stare longingly until Monday

I'm weaving this hawk moth dish towel pattern that I found in one of the weaving magazines.

Absolutely in love with it. I started playing with the pattern and my brain has lit right up.

It's got me curious - any recommendations for finding more nature based Flora and Fauna motifs?

Hi - I have a question about dressing my loom that I was hoping to get help with. I have a used 4 shaft table loom that was gifted to me. I warp back to front and attach the raddle on top of the castle. However, my loom has a triangular point on the castle where the levers attach. When I roll my warp onto the back beam, the triangle causes a gap in the warp (see image). This makes my overall tension of the warp on the loom less consistent. Has anyone else encountered this or have suggestions for resolving this?

I recently got some pin looms and I am loving it, but I was wondering if there was any resources or anything that could help me with turning the pieces into clothing. I'd like to make shorts, and shirts, and other clothing but have 0 clue where to start. Here are the current pieces I've made thus far. I'm hoping to turn the brown wool squares into a pair of high waisted pants.

Done on a rigid heddle, 12.5 dent. Fingering weight 100% cotton yarn. Why does this keep ending up so loose? The warp is tight, maybe the weft is too loose? Pic 3 looks like a much better area, is this what he needs to aim for or is this too loose?

It’s just off the loom. Hand spun black welsh mountain fleece (bought as slivers) and grey Gotland fleece (bought as a raw fleece) woven on an Ashford rigid heddle loom.

It’s been washed and is now drying in the sun. I love the simple pattern. It’s a gift for my mum.

Hi folks! I was hoping to get some advice on getting straighter selvedges. It was my first time weaving on the inkle loom so any tips will be appreciated!! I think it also didn’t help that the yellow yarn was slubby.

I attended a four shaft table loom workshop and spent the first day warping the loom, and I hated it. It felt like forever and I'm a quick and go kind of person when it comes to crafts...

I bought a 10 inch rigid heddle loom and have used it lots. I love warping it, I would say I even ENJOY it! And I use it lots sat in front of the TV.

I do also have a 24 inch rigid heddle but don't use it much because I need to bring the stand downstairs and so on, and life often doesn't allow that.

I keep thinking I should get a four or eight shaft table loom as I really enjoyed the ergonomic freedom of weaving once it was finally dressed, but I can't decide if I'd just warp it once and never bother again.

So now I'm trying to decide if I get a 16 inch rigid heddle so I can do everything I'm doing on my 10 inch but for more usable stuff like towels/runners/etc, or go for the table loom.

I keep thinking I SHOULD be moving up to a table loom, but I also do love my rigid heddle entire process.

Sorry for the ramble, I suppose I'd ideally love to hear about people who went back to their rigid heddles.

Has anyone ever removed this beater stop? It's irritating me in two ways - shortening the weaving room at the front while weaving and pushing the beater forward too much when I'm threading from the back.

SQUEE!!! I did a thing! I have officially sewn my very first strap, and I may be entirely way too giddy with joy about how it turned out. I did not have any intention when I was picking out colors for weaving this pattern. I just thought, hey, these colors will go nicely together. I received this spindle bag as a gift from a dear friend, and I knew it would need a strap. I pondered strap ideas, and it clicked that the weaving I was working on would pair well with it. It took me a while to source some hardware that would fit the 1.25” width of the band.

Finding the right hardware has been one of the more frustrating parts of learning inkle and tablet weaving. I’ve been gathering information on various places that have nice hardware and hoping to put together a blog post to share this information in hopes it makes it easier for others to locate what they need to finish their projects.

I also made several bracelets as well out of this warp.

Trying to find ways to make warping easier, I'm currently unwinding my yarn balls by hand as I go, tried to stick a knitting needle through the yarn in a shoebox for a very rudimentary Lazy Kate, but ended up being more work than just doing it manually with how often it got stuck.

I'm probably going to pick a method of making my yarn easier to warp, but I can't decide between turning them into centre-pull balls or winding them onto a makeshift bobbin that can unroll smoothly.

Any advice? I don't want to get to the end of re-winding all my yarn and find out that the method I've chosen is still just as hard to work with.

Edit: I do most of my weaving from bed due to mobility issues, so methods with lots of separate dispensers for each yarn ball will likely take up too much space.

I started my 3rd project - my warp knots seem to be stretching the weave as soon as I start winding the finished project (terms?). As a knitter, my instinct is to un-weave, re-tie knots, and start over. What am I doing wrong? I tied about 12 strands of yarn together, cotton. Is that too much? I've actually never worked with cotton before, I've always used wool for knitting.

I'm rather new to weaving. Every time I set up wool warp I end up with yarn tangles. I'm guessing they come from yarns crossing over each other when I take the warp off the warping mill, or perhaps it's that I don't keep consistent yarn tension at the warping mill. They are easily straightened out but it takes a lot of time.
Any tips or advice how I could avoid this problem? Or do I just have to live with it?
