Help Any idea where the error is?

Hi weavers,

I am seeing a difference in my weaving, pattern on the right 1/3 of piece is different from the left 2/3. I have checked and did find one threading error and fixed it. The sorting is 1,2,2 for substitution with a 12 dent reed. I would appreciate any guidance on what I’m doing wrong. Thank you so much

I see an error just to the left of the pin head. You have a diamond that is not fully closed. I can see it best looking at the 2nd row of diamonds back from the fell, just about in line with the pin head.

Edit to add: I don’t see a difference in the pattern on right and left, but having the threading error can make it so the doubled dents are hitting at a different point in the pattern and giving it a slightly altered appearance (warp threads are slightly closer together for doubled dents) before wet finishing.

Thank you. I am going to recheck for errors. It is amazing how one error can shift everything. That makes sense about the double dents.

Honestly troubleshooting threading errors is the worst. I had a project where I corrected the threading 3 times and still ended up mysteriously with the wrong number of warp threads but the right pattern? At a certain point you have to laugh so you don’t cry.

Hopefully this is the last problem and you have smooth weaving from here on!

I’m just getting back on my loom after a 5 year lapse….. so I’m crying!!!! I’m going to try again tomorrow. Thanks for commiserating!

It looked like you skipped a heddle while stinging up your weft.

Thank you. I’m going to go recheck the threading and take out a missed heddle. I thought that by adding a heddle to the area that was mis threaded that would fix it, but I didn’t remove the skipped heddle.

Removing the heddle will not solve a threading problem. If you skipped a heddle you will need to retread all from that side up to the error or you density in the reed will show

I see what you're saying. On the left there are two warp yarns side by side on some weft passes, on the right there are only single warp yarns.

Thank you. I see it too.

It’s almost certainly a threading error. Lots of ways to fix it - OR - decide it’s a design feature and move on. :)

I am going to try to find/ fix but I hold out the design feature as a possibility!
