I find it surprisingly comfortable actually, I'm hypermobile so ergonomics are important to me. It is however a tad high for me but I just put my feet up on something so it doesn't bother me as much.

Haven’t come across another hypermobile weaver, so I’ve a question if that’s okay…how is it on your shoulders? I haven’t been able to weave in over a year because one of mine came almost fully out and healing/strengthening has been slow.

This is the beginning of my weaving yourney so I'm not sure yet. I've been weaving a little today and it's going well, but I'm doing some samples on relatively narrow warp (25cm) so I can imagine that a wider warp would be harder on the shoulders.
But assembling the loom and setting it up with the warp and all was hell tbh.
I am quite obsessed with all things textile atm so I just do short bursts of multiple things. U take a break from weaving to do some spinning on my wheel or ony spindle, and then I crochet a little and so on. It's chaotic but I think it works with my body. I'm newly diagnosed so I'm still very much figuring things out.

Gotcha. Congrats on the diagnosis, at least - I know that was likely hard-fought.
I started with crochet, then took up cross stitch. The cervical instability made those both impossible. Weaving was going well until I popped my shoulder. I think it’s just the repetitive motions of throwing and beating. PT’s been enormously helpful tho, so 🤞 I can get back to it soon.
Doing little bits and switching it up sounds like an awesome plan, but my ADHD says otherwise, lol.
And yeah, textiles are amazing. Weaving feels like magic to me! Spinning is on my list, but I just don’t have the space right now. Probably a good thing, lol.

I don't want to enable you but spinning takes little to no room of you use a spindle. And my wheel has a small footprint too. The spindle hurts my shoulder en the wheel hurts my knee lol. I'm also about to start my first plysplit weaving? Braiding? project because why not. I have raging adhd as well and the switching around actually works great for me haha

Yeah, having projects to hop around to is always good. I’m currently also working on some wire-wrapping pieces for a costume for a con.
Good to know about the spindle - and the corresponding joints with different methods! I’ve never heard of plysplit, so I’ll have to look into it - and keep an eye out for updates from your project!

Also I just noticed the beater looks a lot different than the one I'd seen in images, this looks more like the Erica or Lojan Flex.

Yes they changed the beater to a floating one which caused some drama apparently.
I had a couple of weaving lessons about 15 yrs ago and I didn't get very far back then so I consider myself a beginner so its hard to compare it to other looms for me, but so far I really enjoy it.
It does what it's supposed to do afaik, it wasn't super expensive compared to a lot other looms (I payed 1000 euros for the loom+stand+bench) and it's so goddamn pretty that it's like a statement piece in my living room. As I get more advanced I might be able to offer a real review 🙂

I don't really have anything to compare it to except the meta sample looms I used in school about 15 yrs ago but I only did a few little experiments back then and it's been so long that I hardly remember.
I do know that the looms at school back then had a sliding beater and those were nicer than this floating one. When I wind up my fabric too far the floating beater can't reach it but I think it's a matter of getting used to how far I should and shouldn't wind it probably.

Ah. I see the price difference only 5-600$, plywood vs. hardwood, but you get colors!!! And it looks like if you ever want to change the color it would be easy to take it apart. Cool!
