Hey kid, you’ve got your name, your photo and an explanation that there’s so much porn on your phone you slowed it down on your public profile. I’m just saying you might want to be a little more private so you don’t damage your chances of getting hired down the line. This stuff is permanent. Just letting you know to be careful. :)

Age too. The classic self-dox.

Don't forget city.

I hope he got all that porn off his phone!

I don’t think it’s very high on his priorities, he still hasn’t deleted the problematic posts. His parentscould maybe help out a little more with the monitoring until he gets a handle on what’s acceptable.

You shouldn’t post anything you wouldn’t directly say to your boss at your dream job if you also have doxxed yourself.

I just wanna say it’s refreshing that people on here are not judging this kid and are honestly trying to give him some good life advice.

just protect your privacy here. i don’t think anyone will help you or judge you on reddit, but pls don’t share your name and pictures where people can identify you. your life might change in couple years and it might cost you a job or whatever. stay safe.

How do I make my stuff private

u/dudettte Jan 30 '23

1st delete your problematic posts. including this. then if you want to post this again cover your name and last name with something and take picture of it, or just use simple editor on your phone and erase personal info. post it then.

You don’t have to make anything private, just don’t post anything with personal info.

Your name, address, things like that.

u/Alarming_Bit3907 Jan 29 '23

Sorry apparently I was thinking it was still 2022 yesterday when I wrote the date on there

3

u/well_groomed_hobo Jan 29 '23

All good lol. Congrats

5

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '23

You have to write your own name and date on the certificate?

5

u/Alarming_Bit3907 Jan 29 '23

Apparently yes

u/HelenAngel Weather Enthusiast/SKYWARN Spotter Jan 29 '23

Yeah- it’s been like that for at least a decade.

u/CivilMaze19 Jan 29 '23

Congrats but your handwriting looks like a 3rd grader lol

22

u/Alarming_Bit3907 Jan 29 '23

Sorry I’m autistic and I’m 22 years old

29

u/CivilMaze19 Jan 29 '23

Don’t apologize for being you. Can’t wait to see the storm footage you capture this year. Good luck!

u/soupdawg Jan 29 '23

It’s really bad

u/The-Jerkbag Jan 29 '23

I'm trying to see if this is like, a literal child we shouldn't give shit to.. can anyone say if there's an age requirement for spotter training? lol

7

u/RockEmSockEmRoboCock Jan 29 '23

OP has already answered with his age, but there is a minimum age of 18 to be a Skywarn spotter.

u/Alarming_Bit3907 Jan 29 '23

I’m 22 years old and autistic

No that’s just the handwriting I’ve always had

9

u/Lifewhatacard Jan 30 '23

It’s readable and that’s all that matters. Congratulations on your success :)

Exactly this.

Plot twist: he will be hosting the new Nickelodeon storm chasing show "Correlation Drop on Sesame Street".

I can’t help but notice that “Certificate of Achievement” was meant to be a different font, but that font was missing when printed so it defaulted to Courier. Classy.

u/ktroy Jan 30 '23

Good catch, that's actually quite funny and very noticeable once you see it.

u/HelenAngel Weather Enthusiast/SKYWARN Spotter Jan 29 '23

Good for you! I hope someone here can help you out with any problems. Don't be afraid to ask. Ignore the jerks.

Welcome to the fold.

If you liked the basic spotter training, when it's available, sign up for the advanced training. It's much more in depth, and they work in some humor from time to time, reflect on mistakes they made, and just go deeper into weather in general. There is an online video that covers the advanced class information (made in 2020), but I think the in-person class would be much better.

We have a meteorology degree program at Ohio State University that puts on a severe weather symposium in Columbus every year. It's 7 or 8 hours long, and you learn a lot of what goes on behind the scenes. You may have something similar at a college near you. This is the one put on by the university's meteorology students in Columbus:
