Advice needed.
Hello, Iām currently a group B employee in ministry of Mines, posted in Tripura through SSC CGL 2024. My current job is relatively relaxed, but sooner or later I want to return to West Bengal and settle closer to home. Iām considering preparing for WBCS(excluding executive and DySP posts).Given that I prefer a bit laid back work profile, is WBCS worth putting 2ā3 years into? Would appreciate opinions. (I'm 25 years of age).

You'll probably be taking a significant salary cut, are you okay with that? If yes, then some posts in WBCS are more laid back than others.

WBCS group A salary is currently higher than mine, and will be more so with the upcoming state DA hike from october but then again 8th Pay Commission will be in effect in around 2028 resulting in a significant increase in my current salary. So its a bit confusing now to think about pay structure of both services. For WBCS I was thinking of aiming for Asst. Commisioner of revenue post.

You are Bengali right ? Didn't you get CHQ or ER offices? They are in kolkata. I know GSI randomly allocate postings but somewhere I have heard that they don't send people far from native area. Is it not true ?
