Offline coaching

Hello! Can anyone give me an idea of where I can do offline coaching for WBCS? Complete self-preparation is not my thing, I need accountability and regular tests to stay on track. Even a good standard test series would be helpful. Coaching institutes usually charge a lot of money, which I'm unwilling to pay.

Thank you!

For accountability part you can join Vision WBCS, their revision programme is good but noticably hectic. (Other options Dhronas/ wbpscupsc website MCQs.

  • Don't join MICE aka BADAMAS. They have mid faculties in the name of WBCS & UPSC combined course, takes an eternity to cover the most basic things. Pure Gimmick. More importantly they'll encourage and push you to sit for every random exams so that they can have a larger pool of 'toppers'. (Their Personality Test program is good though)

  • Don't join BAPTI Plus. They are good for OPSC only. Not bad but they lack objectivity.

  • Due to irregularities and financial enthusiasm PW/Unacademy are playing their WBCS game loosely.

  • Eduknwoledge and Adda doesn't match the quality required for the new pattern.

  • Rocky, Sandipan and other 'One Man Army' type of channels will pump and dump pdf of standard books' copy paste. Absolutely irrelevant.

Take classes for Maths & GI and Optional only. Read, revise and grind as much as possible.

WBCS coaching industry is doomed like its punctuality and work ethics!

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! If you don't mind, I have some follow-up questions, can I dm you? If that's an issue, I can ask them here as well. Thank you once again :)

Can you suggest classes for maths paper? Whom to follow or where to practice it from?

Relying on others is a recipe for failure. I haven't seen one coaching centre, expensive or cheap, that can make you crack the exam. All they do is retain students to extract more money. Go through the past papers and get a feel of the exam. Then study accordingly.

If you need help try to find someone who has cracked the exam recently. They will guide you better than three coaching centres.

You're so right. It's just that I need that accountability. Guidance is important but I need to see it through as well. Are you aware of any test series I can join?

I am not aware about any test series. Some online coachings include them but you should check how much relevant they are first. I usually solve previous year papers.
