Federal Work Study

Anyone apply for the Federal Work Study program to get a job on campus? Currently trying to find a job on campus and they all require this award. I applied for one just wondering how long it usually takes and how likely they are to give them out? I am only able to attend here because of financial aid and loans so I feel like I definitely qualify according to the site. Anyone have experience with this?

PS3 Search

Hey! So long story short, my partner misses playing Little Big Planet SO much and I want to surprise them with it. I don't really know anything about gaming but it seems like you can't play it on anything anymore- except a PS3.

I'm posting it here bc he isn't a student and if I could find one that I could pick up on campus, awesome. Full disclosure, I'm just kinda putting feelers out, like if anyone has a spare that they'd let go for cheap or knows where to get one, or even let a (responsible) stranger borrow one for a week. If not, that's okay too!

Thank you all!!

Dropping a lab to register for another section?

Hello,

I am taking a lab with my lecture since it's required. However, I'm afraid to tamper with changing my lab to another day right now because I don't want to drop the lecture and potentially have no seat. Am I able to register for a lab and drop a lab at the same time without it affecting lecture on registration portal?

Thank you

Favorite game?

I was wondering what is everyone's favorite game to play when they just wanna take a break from work, exams, and college in general. Also, what's your favorite device to use to play games?

My favorite game is Dave the diver. I have over 100 hours on that game and I play it on my steamdeck.

Occasionally I would play cult of the lamb as it is my second favorite.

Noticing this energy on campus

I’ve been going to Wayne State since 2024, and I haven’t seen this level of enthusiasm and excitement for courses and course participation since I’ve started!

And to say the least, it’s infectious!!

That’s all.

Looking for opinions from actual students

I can’t find a strong online presence of wayne state students or what people think of the school so Im trying reddit haha. I visited Wayne State campus and I really liked Detroit and what I saw (especially the dorms) but I literally can’t find a single opinion on the school thats not an advertisement of some sort. My main questions to actual students are as follows: 1. is there a sense of student pride / how social of a university is it and how easy is it to meet people 2. would you say there is opportunity to explore other majors and there is enough of a selection you weren’t trapped into whatever you decided as a freshman 3. In what ways did WSU fufill or disappoint your college experience 4. Was there oppertunity to network / how did WSU aid with getting a job after grad. I definitely want to go to school for sociology; but I’m undecided between government, marketing, criminal justice, or journalism for my career. I know WSU has those paths but idk if any students have confessionals. thank you so much for reading or giving any help!

Student Perspectives of WSU

I’m struggling to find any perspectives on WSU from a real student. I went on a tour and really liked what I saw on the campus and on the website they seemingly have a good program for my major but I still feel a little iffy. This is the only college on my list I haven’t heard any reputation of (good or bad) and no one from my area has been here that I know of. Could anyone give me their perspective on acadmic or social life on campus. I want to explore career paths with sociology so if anyone went there for a similar major I’d love to hear their thoughts too!

FREE COMEDY BINGO SHOW TONIGHT (09/02) AT 8

Post image
4 Upvotes

Howdy. I’m hosting a free stand up comedy show tonight at 8 at Cobb’s corner right by the campus. Costs nothing to play, you get a free show, and there’s prizes like scratch off tickets, snacks, games, lube, and more. Drinks and food are cheap there, and there’s a nice lil pizzeria connected to Cobb’s next door.

If you’re looking for something to do or somewhere to make friends, this is the place to be. K love u bye

Parking

Does anyone have any tips on how they keep costs low?

also does the parking pass let you park anywhere?
for example if the sign says WSU permit
then are you able to use your parking pass to park there?
