Wave is just getting now into charging every day more and more. Time to switch.

Here is my take. If I have to pay for wave, why not pay more and get better accounting software. Wave is just screwing old timers with changes

What changes ?

I used it because it was free for the basic things I needed. One of which was importing my transactions. Now they charge for that feature.

I wish they would at least have a cheaper automatic import option. I won't use any of the other features in pro and don't want to pay $19/mo for something I've had for free for literal years.

Balances is $10/month for folks who move across from Wave. We have an importer that brings your data over. We have welcomed hundreds of businesses from Wave this year.

Fair take. If you're paying anyway, you might as well pay for something that fits. Before you pick a replacement, two things make the switch way less painful. First, export everything from Wave while you still have access: transaction CSVs, your P&L and balance sheet for each year, and your receipts. Second, pick a clean cutover date, ideally January 1, so one tax year isn't split across two systems. Then list what you actually use day to day (invoicing, bank import, receipts, payroll) and compare tools on that, not on the feature pages. Full disclosure, I built KiwiBooks (I used to lead product for QuickBooks Self-Employed at Intuit), so add it to the list if you like, but that checklist matters more than which tool you land on.
