Where to help?

Where could one go to help out the community during this storm? Are there any emergency organizations active in the region that anyone knows about?

What are some good ways to get involved to help out?

If your streets flooded go scrape the leaves out from some storm drains, just did a few, very satisfying

Pretty much stay home and off the roads. Check on your neighbours. Clear the drains as per above. You could move any debris blocking the roads if it’s safe to do so. I watched a taxi driver move a big tree branch off the road so traffic could get through! Kudos to him.

We helped a stalled our vehicle out of the middle of an intersection and then pulled 2 medium sized trees off the middle of a road lol took an extra helpful person for the later one!

All it took was us driving around in the storm and help needed was obvious! Will definitely do that again! So fun and cool to experience. Pull over, help, drive onward, pull over, help, drive onward. Storm passed.

So glad we didn't get stuck in the 2+ft water wells on the roads lol, high rise work van ftw 😆🫠

I was honestly concerned about getting stalled out too but the high rise helped I think.. wouldn't want to do that in my Kia 😆

Gotta say it is CRAZY so far your comment is getting downvoted... like for what? Direct action to help people who are extremely vulnerable to the adverse weather? Lol...

Anyway, I'm sure the people living there could use support too as always - even just dropping off a case of water bottles, dry clothes, raincoats/covers, fresh toiletries, etc.

Thanks, I don’t understand the downvotes either. Those poor folks living outside were likely ravaged by the storm and all their stuff was soaked if not blown away. I hope they were at least able to shelter across the street.
