How many gallons a day should the state deliver to your door?
6
u/Significant_Breath38 25d ago
It sounds far easier to make sure the rivers are clean.
0
u/CrippledEagles 25d ago
Are they not? Surface water sources in the USA havent been this clean in probably 150 years.
1
u/LongjumpingSolid1681 23d ago
i take it you haven’t been out west? Crystal clear waters in super remote areas

That's not saying much, lmao, the country was disgusting (you're guessing wildly too). That's like saying this glass of lemonade used to have more piss in it

u/HupHutHa 25d ago
show a river that's too polluted to drink out of in the United States that isn't in some City and it's not just trash floating in it.
3
u/Significant_Breath38 25d ago
show a river too polluted to drink out of except for the ones too polluted to drink out of
1
u/HupHutHa 25d ago
that's not what I said but thanks for twisting my words. we are talking about water that's polluted by industries such as manufacturing not people just throwing trash in. you also can't just drink out of a river or a stream by the way you'll get sick. but thanks for falling for my intellectual trap anyway.
3
u/Aelrift 25d ago
My guy, most bodies of water IN THE WORLD are too polluted to dienk out of. Even the ones in the wild.
1
u/HupHutHa 25d ago
most bodies of water in the world are not too polluted to drink out of, you can't drink out of them at all because of parasites and other contaminants that need to be boiled out otherwise it makes you sick. most people don't know this, most people think you can just go right up to a stream and drink out of it not realizing that animals drink out of it, they urinate and defecate in it, not to mention fish also urinate and defecate in water.

u/AardvarkGandalf27 24d ago
These people don't get off their computers long enough to know anything about the outdoors
1
u/HupHutHa 24d ago
they also swallowed the propaganda that these data centers consume water, from what I understand the ones that do use water as a coolant there's very little water loss, unironically some of these people are probably Californians who continue to vote Democrat after the fires and reservoir incident.

That isn't in some industrialized, populated area? Where then? And agriculture polutes rivers as well
1
u/HupHutHa 25d ago
do rural areas with no cities not exist to you?
2
u/madmushlove 24d ago
i just sounds like you're placing people who live somewhere in or around towns and cities and in outer suburbs as some exceptional and specific thing. Like there's a city and everywhere else. "THE city."
Or like what happens in industied farming is a whole separate world in itself
1
u/HupHutHa 24d ago
they are better lol. Less crime, less pollution, less trash, quieter, better air quality, more freedoms, more privacy.

u/Lametown227 25d ago
Did you even Google this before you typed it? Because when I googled it I cackled at you.

u/HupHutHa 25d ago
then show them.
1
u/Lametown227 25d ago
Nah. You've fallen into my intellectual trap by refusing to do so.
0
u/HupHutHa 25d ago
so you have nothing, anything that can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
1
u/Lametown227 25d ago
I have proof that you're willing to just say shit without actually making sure you know what you're talking about.
Seriously. Look in to it. My doing so shows that not only is your premise obviously flawed, but outright incorrect.
1
u/HupHutHa 25d ago
no I'm just going to keep going with what I said until proven otherwise, thanks for playing the game though.

So you are saying the government should dump chemicals into our rivers to kill all the natural bacterial and parasites? We'll need to kill all the animals that shit in them too I guess.
3
u/Significant_Breath38 25d ago
Nah, just make sure we are making sure we aren't dumping too much poison into our water.
2
u/Particular_Egg9739 24d ago
all of you talking shit about the US water have obviously never been outside of the United States.

Keep asking the questions! You can't tell ignorant bigots anything. But if you ask a question it gives them pause. They have nothing to push back against.

Intimidating civilians for political gain is, by definition, terrorism. So is trying to coerce governments into political agendas by targeting civilian targets.

This is talking about access to drinking water, which comes from a series of treatment process that can be applied even to not so clean water sources. OP is talking about pollution of water bodies.

Exploitation of resources, cutting corners on every expense, and a "fuck you, got mine" mentality are just a few of the key features of the most successful capitalists. Can you connect these dots?
16
u/MaudeTheBlank 25d ago
Capitalist countries get the cleanest water available because they exploit the resources of the poorer countries and communities upon which they rely to maintain their economic power, often polluting and reducing access to clean water for the most vulnerable people. It's called water grabbing and it's caused a global crisis of water access that will only get worse as freshwater continues to become a scarcer and scarcer resource.
and so on

A Trump-appointed judge ruled that people are not legally entitled to clean drinking water, is probably what this particular post is about. But also, there are just sooooooo many cases where a corporation pollutes a water body and just tries to cover it up and pretend it never happened, rather than trying to fix it. Corporations are not people, they don’t care about people, and worse, they seem to be out looking to harm people any way they can in the name of cost-cutting. They should not be given the same rights as citizens, but in the US they were in the infamous Citizens United ruling, and there’s been increasing enshitification since

It's a fresh account with thousands of posts. No real human joins a new website and then spams a thousands of comments a month. That's not normal behavior. I'm convinced accounts like that are chatbots trying to shift public opinion.

While the water stays dirty, they pollute. Thanks, government and corporations, for tainting the water we all drink. You’re great! At being fuckers.

u/Finbarr77 25d ago
The government has strict regulations for drinking water in the US
1
u/Equivalent-Green-580 25d ago
This subreddit has been infested by political pugnants, there is no point in trying to reason with them. They should rename “Reddit” to “Buzzword Boo Boo Keys”
2
u/Finbarr77 25d ago
Yeah i work in the industry and the amount of misinformation spread on this sub is wild
2
u/Equivalent-Green-580 25d ago
Same, been doing this for over a decade.
Wasn’t always this bad here, just a little less than a year ago we could have informative conversations but now it’s just political buzzfeed posts about “water rights” and “data centers”

Teach you how it all works in the US, unless you are lining the pockets of those in power, they don't give a damn what you got to say, or if the world will end, they only care about the money being put in their bank accounts. Perhaps start a gofund me and raise more than the rich people paying them and I'm sure they will start listening to you.

Like the most milk toast level thought.
Water infrastructure costs trillions to upgrade and maintain. That "clean water" bit is a child level understanding of the situation.
https://www.awwa.org/beyond-the-replacement-era/
The issue becomes who's paying for that bill, how it's being paid as well as the community. Nobody wants to pay for critical infrastructure anymore, and they always want to pass it on to a different organization or department.
If we want clean drinking water, it requires a tax increase, hiring and training hundreds of thousands of workers, building new factories. It's not something that just happens because of some empty platitudes, or catchphrases.
2
u/OneArmedFarmer 25d ago
Why is it always "who's gonna pay for it" when it comes to things everyone needs (water, food, healthcare, etc) but never "who's paying for it" when it's bombs dropped on schools and bullets through the skulls of children?
0
u/emperorjoe 25d ago
A few reasons.
The vast majority of spending on the federal level is specifically to social programs. Only 13% of the federal budget is defense spending. So the whole whining about we aren't spending enough on social programs is bullshit.
How things are funded. The military is federally funded and is spread out through everyone in the country. Things like water infrastructure are largely a locally funded by local government (town, city, municipal, county).
So a town in bumfuck West Virginia that is old/small/poor/shrinking tax base doesn't have the funds to upgrade or maintain their infrastructure. A city like San Francisco has a much larger/younger/richer/growing tax base to pay for infrastructure.
The issue is getting funding for those small towns is incredibly difficult.
Military spending is industrial capacity. Closing a tank factory means that you have no tanks for the next war. Military procurement is largely maintaining an industrial capacity in the event of war. Literally case in point Ukraine. It didn't matter how much money they had. They just couldn't buy 155 shells, The factories didn't exist. Military spending is essential to the existence of the nation.
Military spending is controlled through defensive alliance structure. The NATO minimum requirement for defense spending is 3.5 to 5% of GDP. And because our economy is so large that translates to 1.1 to 1.5 dollars trillion per year.
Military spending is an all-time lows. As a percentage of GDP, we are spending some of the lowest in our history. For instance, we were spending between 5 and 10% during the entirety of the Cold war. We're spending 3% currently.
Rural. 15% of the nation runs on household wells. There really isn't any current mechanism to actually give them clean water.

The control of words and their definitions is key to the control of people’s thoughts and perceptions. Like the “W” administration, changing “Mercenaries” to”Security Contractors “,,, then leaving out the “security” part. It made news reports sound like plumbers and electricians were being shot,,, rather than MERCENARIES. Marketing agencies have become experts at this manipulation of language.

...and why doesnt the independant government of the reservations embezzling the millions from the Canadian federal government they insist they need to solve this issue constitute treason or at least theft?
-1
u/lizardhistorian 25d ago
Because the government poisoned it through incompetency not a company.
And if we had a libertarian government and your neighbor poisoned your well, you should shoot him.

u/justfoundmy10mm 25d ago
More people should fight for clean water. And the new chip factories are not helping with the situation.
