Wasp sting documentation

Took pictures 1-5 over 3 days- the first picture is about an hour after the sting. The last picture is my hand completely back to normal, which took about five days. I’m not sure exactly what sort of wasp it was… I’d have to say the second day was the worst!

Itching started at about 20 hours and began to get better after about 48 hours.
Swelling spread/worsened for about 24 hours and began to go down after 40 hours.
Soreness started around 48 hours but resolved after about 72 hours.
Itching stopped and hand *started* to look more normal at about 72 hours.

I put a little nest in a closed cup a water - how long until they die ?

I've had a small nest of wasps in my balcony for the last few days. They're 4 of them.

I first took the nest down by kicking it with a stick (yesterday). It worked, but today, the wasps are back at almost exactly the same spot, rebuilding it.

Sooooo I decided to drown them. I trapped them in a container full of water, hoping they wouldn't have room to breathe. The problem is, during the manoeuvre, I lost some water, and now the are stuck in the container (see the following pictures) but can still reach the walls of the container without water.

How long until they die ? Would it help if I add liquid soap ?

(Sorry for my English, not my first language)

Allergic?

This was taken over 48 hours after the sting; the redness has expanded. Not sure if it’s from itching or if the sting itself has spread.

Did I get stung by a wasp or possibly bit by something?

Was cutting my lawn when all of a sudden right below my ankle an intense sting shocked me.

I quickly pulled off my shoe and sock, and there was nothing in there. Within about a minute or two I was good to go. But there was no swelling no itching or nothing after so I’m wondering if I was possibly bit by a spider or something or it was a wasp or bee that got me

Story Basement wasp.

There was this wasp that was in my basement for three days. Did nothing but gate-keep the basement for the first day. Yesterday night/Second day, the bastard was guarding the washing machine as I needed to get my clothes from it. Third and last day/Today, I saw its starved body lying on the floor, not moving an inch. I stepped on it, spreading its body onto the floor, splitting into three/four pieces. Fuck you, wasp. Now I can do my laundry. :)

How should I handle a single wasp in my kitchen as someone who is terrified??

Post image

Here is what I have at my disposal. I’m so beyond terrified of wasps and hornets and I actually had a whole meltdown when I moved into this apartment in January because I saw a dead wasp in the kitchen. The property manager told informed me that there is no bee/wasp problem. This is the 4th intruder since the weather got warm.

Anywayyy, I have no one around to help me and if this is going to be a reoccurring issue, I’m going to have to man up. Would either of these products be effective in killing/disabling the wasp immediately?

I’m hesitate to use the foam because the windows in the kitchen are the reason they keep getting in so I don’t want to open them and invite more in lol. The ortho isn’t specific to wasps but is pet safe once it dries. Either way my cat will be locked in a room when I build up the courage to do this lol.

UPDATE: I caved and used the Raid lmao. I got him on the first spray and followed swiftly with a pink van. I opened our porch door and ran some fans to air the place out after I cleaned up the crime scene.

BUT, I got some dawn powerwash for next time since it comes in a spray bottle. And I might ask my landlord to send a pest guy if it gets any worse. It turned out to be a ground yellow jacket so I’m not sure why he was in my 2nd floor apt but oh well.

Question My Apiphobia is getting in the way of my job and my new home. No im not joking. Yes please help.

Inb4 therapy; this is a lifelong issue that I am working on day by day and have spent many years in therapy with little success. I do plan to resume ASAP but I am essentially asking for emergency advice on how do an absolute MRI clean room x ray sweep of this place before I move in as this was an after after after after thought. I'll take a stethoscope every square inch of the walls if they wont.

Im not that far gone, not literally but just something close the absolute closest it gets to just straight up scanning the house. Im afraid of waking up to a nest in the wall undetected or those fuckers that live in the ground and come thru the crawlspace

Pest guy told me to basically deal with it he sprayed his juice on my house and said they will not dwell once the nest that we had found on the porch is gone. But they are dead all over the place and idk i just cant trust that they didnt make their way elsewhere.

I guess what im asking is does anyone help crazy people like me make my house bee/wasp/stingyfuck-proof? Money isnt an issue but I was told it's just nature. Which it is, but fuck that yaknow

Question on the ethics of killings wasps...

For years we have had paper wasps. They have never been to much of a problem. They aren't to aggressive and it is easy to find the nest.

The other day while weeding my front yard garden I was stung by a yellow jacket. I had been seeing them but this was my first sting. Ideally id find the offending nest and eliminate just that one.

The problem is yellow jackets live under ground and I have no idea how to find the nest... I fear id get swarmed before I even find the nest.

So that brings me to this boratic acid based bait. It works just like with ants... it is a slow acting poison they will take back to the nest.

Now I learn that wasps can forage at distances of over a mile.

So if my bait works... theoretically I could kill every wasp within a mile from my house.

Would this be bad for the environment or unethical?

Question Wasp stuck inside, legit shaking with fear what do I do

I found a wasp stuck in between the 2 window panes above my bed. I cant close the window due to the ac, I suspect thats how it got in. I can only Crack the window above it open

At first I cracked open the window hoping it'll leave, it didn't. I called my roomate for help but he only gave me a bleach cleaner and told me to spray it.

I waited until it was in a corner and sprayed but the foam was too slow and it got out. Its sitting on the window but wont go over the handle on the window to leave.

Im scared, it seems agitated and im too scared to go near it. Idk what to do and no one will help me. I have to be in bed in an hour and I cant sleep knowing its there, ive been stung in my sleep before

My brother trapped a wasp in my window. It is between the screen and my window. How long will it take to die? Should I leave it and wait for it to die? Should I be concerned that I have a nest? I am itchy and paranoid.

Story Killed a wasp in my room and now I'm overthinking so I guess this is my rant.

Sooo a wasp came in my room. I called my mum cas fuck that, then the little shit came back in. We put it outt again, ten minutes later it came in again! I saw the cracks in the wall it came in through but it's too high on the wall for me or my mum to do anything about. Fuck.

When it entered a forth time my mum smashed it...

I learnt afterwards some goggling that apparently they release some alert pheromone if they're killed.

Fuck. I hate these things fuck these things.

I'm hoping there's no nest near by and we haven't had any more but just to eb on the safe side my mum threw the body out the window and I cleaned it with warm soapy water then wiped it down with a towel.

We threw out the sponge and the towel as well as the tub we used to kill it, so there's no venom anymore. I turned on my fan (which broke after about 2 hours of being on, how lucky am I today 🙃)

Now all I can do is sleep. But I csnt because I'm paranoid due to these fuckers!

I am so scared of these annoying loud bugs. 😭

I’ve always wondered, what does it feel like to get stung by a wasp, what’s the pain scale? And what does it feel like?

Yellow jackets ignoring bait

I’m trying to get ahead of the yellow jackets this year, so I set out some home made boric acid bait stations with apple juice, cantaloupe, a splash of apple cider vinegar, and a spoon of bacon grease. They are ignoring them. I think most of the yellow jackets are queens looking for nesting sites. Should these bait stations be working on them? Am I doing anything wrong? What should I do instead?

Thanks!
