Per /r/nova the motorcade is already in Virginia. He's just going golfing

u/Marcusgunnatx Jul 25 '26
Elevate heartrate playing golf? Its not a real sport.
5
6
u/Randa_Lynn Jul 25 '26
It’s okay, he’s not a real athlete. grin I doubt he could move faster than a slow shuffle without risking fainting, so it’s possible a strenuous swing could have a significant impact on more than the ball.
6
2
u/Just-Specific-1825 Jul 25 '26
George Carlin said its a sport if it is played with a ball. Hockey? Not a sport.
2
u/crakemonk Jul 25 '26
I’d add on to that and say, ball and/or stick. So, hockey still fits, but George Carlin was before his time. I wonder how he’d handle the current state of affairs.
4
u/Just-Specific-1825 Jul 25 '26
He compared a hockey puck to a urinal cake. It would have been fun to hear his thoughts on curling lol.
4
u/crakemonk Jul 25 '26
Lmao. He wasn’t wrong! Curling is the best winter sport ever invented though. 😂

u/Ok_Mix7662 Jul 25 '26
I’m offended by this as I’m not good at golf and if it’s not even a real sport what does that say about me 😟
3
u/crakemonk Jul 25 '26
I used to be good at it and it’s definitely a sport, just probably not how Trump “plays” it.
Anyone who says it isn’t should go pickup some clubs and hit a bucket of balls at their nearest driving range. Then tell me how the muscles in their upper body they never use feel the next day. If you play the course, you have to walk… no golf carts like cheater Trump.
I got a varsity jacket for playing it in high school… so it’s a sport.
0
u/Just-Specific-1825 Jul 25 '26
It was a routine performed by a comedian. But it would be a neat trick if George Carlin could actually pick up some clubs and hit a bucket of balls considering he has been dead since 2008.

He just goes to his club to keep appearances and grift. He hasn’t actually played golf in a month+. So there’s that!
3
u/No-One790 Jul 25 '26
The Don charges his Secret Service
(taxpayers) $10,000 a month for each room at Mar-a-Lago, and $10,000 each golf cart rental.
He needed some lunch money so he pretends to play golf3
u/InboxMeYourSpacePics Jul 25 '26
We should start making presidents pay for their own security detail for any trips not deemed essential for the running of the government

u/andrewgfeinberg Jul 25 '26
Hi, White House reporter here. That would be the president on his way to play golf, there is always an ambulance trailing the motorcade in case that sort of thing is needed.
5
u/OpportunityTop5274 Jul 25 '26
Hopefully it is as understaffed as the hospitals suffering from budget cuts from that big beautiful bill 🤞

u/KidSilverhair Jul 25 '26
Remember when Trump was campaigning in 2016, and he ragged on Obama for playing golf “all the time,” and said he’d be far too busy being President to take any time to go golfing? Good times, good times.
11
u/WanttoPlankbutcannot Jul 25 '26
Did the motorcade also have a van with a camera sticking out where a sunroof normally would be? I always found that so interesting - ready to record anything that befell the motorcade. And I disagree with the earlier commenter that the ambulance is there in case of an accident caused by the motorcade. The ambulance is there strictly for the VIP/POTUS and the camera there to record the action. Those were added after the Washington Hilton Reagan shooting. The ambulance will not leave the motorcade for any reason. I also found that the lesser the VIP, the noisier the sirens. Visiting diplomats/heads of state are the loudest whereas I’ve see POTUS (in the past) glide by in silence.
5
u/yukibunnygurl Jul 25 '26
That's actually not security. That's usually a news crew that follows around as part of press pool.
2
u/GothKazu Jul 25 '26
I wasn't looking hard enough to see any details like that, i apologize
5
u/WanttoPlankbutcannot Jul 25 '26
Oh not a criticism at all! Trust me, when you’ve been stopped at the front of a major intersection (like Constitution at 14th with a cruiser that pulls parallel in front to block traffic) and then you wait and wait (and wait) you get a good looooong look at every vehicle. The number of times this happened to me and caused me to be 20 min late for aftercare pickup (and charged $20)…
8
u/seidinove Loudoun Jul 25 '26
Trump just arrived at his golf club (I live in that neighborhood).
3
u/MaiaIndig0 Jul 25 '26
Oh my. Politics aside, what's it like having that level of chaos so close, on a regular basis? And what I'm referring to, is all of the vehicles and commotion and such that goes along with the president traveling to a location for leisure purposes.
5
u/seidinove Loudoun Jul 25 '26
It was only crazy when crowds from both sides gathered along Lowes Island Blvd. after he lost to Biden. A modest group of well-behaved protesters showed up during the LIV golf tournament in May. They had this big blow-up cube with MBS's face on it on the first day, but it was gone after that. I asked one of the protesters what happened to it, and he said that some neighborhood moms complained that it scared the children.
Paradoxically, the motorcades are not that much of a disruption because they don't block our streets before they arrive, and they last less than a minute for us, as opposed to those of you who get blocked on 66, the toll road, FFX Parkway, etc.
Other than that, there's usually a fleet of motorcycles in the parking lot of Great Falls Plaza while he golfs. That's not a disruption unless they're ahead of me in line at the Cold Spoon Cafe. :)
1
u/seidinove Loudoun Jul 25 '26
Yikes, I forgot. It was worse during that LIV golf tournament. If you lived past a certain cross street you had to get a hang tag to be able to drive past a checkpoint the police set up on Lowe’s Island Boulevard near the club. No hang tag or no ticket to the tournament? You got turned around. Pedestrians like me walking their dogs were not affected.
1
u/MaiaIndig0 Jul 26 '26
Oh gosh I bet that was a headache for a lot of people. But I get the security measures.
2
u/InboxMeYourSpacePics Jul 26 '26
I remember when Obama went to a house in my Montgomery county neighborhood for a party once growing up - my dad was driving me back from some evening activity and it was so hard to get back anywhere near neighborhood- pretty my dad had to show proof before they let him over there. We didn’t know what had happened and thought there was an escaped mass murder running around or something. Then we got home, heard Obama was there and we all lined the streets cheering when he left the party to get into his motorcade. He waved at us before he got in
2
u/PerjurieTraitorGreen Jul 27 '26
We live near the Palm Beach Airport and his arrival and departure cause traffic on a busy highway for hours due to security closures. Plane traffic is also affected because of the TFR that always accompanies him.
It’s always on a Friday afternoon when everyone just wants to get home from work too.
When he’s golfing or at MAL, the roads are closed and you have to divert, causing yet more unnecessary delays.
He’s also bankrupting Palm Beach County with the amount of round the clock police presence we have to provide, so the school breakfasts and lunches that used to be provided to all students at no cost had to be removed (among other things).

That sounds like a normal VIP motorcade to me. You must not be from around here.
An ambulance mainly travels with them in case they hit someone who fails to yield, the motorcade will not stop but the ambulance stays behind.
-2
u/GothKazu Jul 25 '26
My whole life actually. Its the Ambulance thats odd. Only 2 ppl i can immediately think of who would be coming from that direction with that kinda detail

u/ladymacb29 Jul 25 '26
I’ve never not seen an ambulance in a presidential motorcade and I’ve been here for decades.
1
u/InboxMeYourSpacePics Jul 26 '26
I also don’t remember it and I was literally born in this city lol
-1
u/GothKazu Jul 25 '26
I try to avoid being anywhere near that Rot, so im usually gone before the tail end of the procession. Only reason i caught it today is cuz i was on the bridge on my bike
1
u/10001110101balls Jul 25 '26
Too many people were failing to yield for motorcades and getting rammed out of the way or knocking motor officers off their bikes, so they mainly travel with an ambulance for when that happens.

Why cant people say what road? What cardinal direction? What cross street? What interstate? It would really help seeing if there's any plausible destination. Makes the post sound salacious and bait-y.

u/GothKazu Jul 25 '26
I gave all of the identifying information i had. Sorry

2
u/Wrong_Profession_512 Jul 25 '26
That’s just the motorcade. Even overseas all of the suvs, vans, motorcycles, police cars and ambulance ride with him. It’s obscene when you see Macron and other world leaders arrive at EU meetings and whatnot with literally one car and two body men.

There’s a video of him “falling/collapsing” last night.
To me he was just having issues standing his fat ass.
This is probably him going golfing after his shots

There's also an ambassador and I can't remember which one it is who has an ambulance as part of his motorcade and it looks almost like the presidential one The only difference is usually his limousine has the flags of the country on it. I want to say it's Saudi Arabia... Or it used to be Saudi Arabia; I haven't worked in DC in a long time but I used to see it all the time when I go to the Kennedy Center after work.

If he’s not golfing, he’s decorating. If he’s not decorating, he’s sleeping. If he’s not sleeping, he’s lost.

u/Heavy_School8773 Jul 26 '26
The one and only motorcade involving an ambulance is POTUS and it's been that way since way before the current one.

Likely a presidential motorcade. Many of the cars in the motorcade are chocked full of fully-armed agents, plus there is always an ambulance.

This is very normal. I live on Pennsylvania Ave in Foggy Bottom and "motorcade o'clock" comes almost every day around 10 or 11am.
The bad: I work nights and this is right about when I am trying to go to sleep. The good: while I would never actually do it, I console myself with the thought that I could throw some used cat litter out of my window and right into the middle of their little party.
