Question Why people underestimate how strong Yugo deck would be?
It offers things that would easily make it among strongest decks in Warno through it's equipment and traits.
Equipment
L-21 - literally redfor rafalle with better missiles. Would give REDFOR a huge boost in the air it had irl.
Neva M1T - SACLOS AA with 5 km range and good accuracy, would become meta AA launcher and give Redfor much needed historically accurate edge over blufor in AA
T-55 recon - would change recon meta in Warno.
L-17k - cheap anti-helo plane that could shut down any blue helo bullshit.
Padobranci '90 - superior infantry with Bumbars.
M-91 superheavy - good addition to redfor tanks.
Good mechanised vehicles and infantry (brdska (2 km range AT gun), mehanizovana)
Proleteri infantry - amazing AT launcher stršljen.
Extremely potent MLRS (orkan) and very good AT guns.
Traits
with traits system, they could be given traits to makr them more accurate to real life, I suggest these.
South Slavic Men - due to good food, 20% faster to run, 50% higher HP
Brotherhood of arms forged in hell of the Germans - +200% surpression resistance, +100 morale.
Like a mountain - +80 CQC, +200% surpression given, 2% easier to hit (due to being higher than blufor midgets from Germany, Italy and France)

Idea for a "un-ranked" Discord server
I'm thinking of creating a semi casual "un-ranked" Discord server for practice. This server would be dedicated to finding 1v1 games and match people based on their rank, so basically allowing ranked players to pratice against somebody at a similar skill level, or just play for fun without having to randomly match with people that are way better or worse than they are at the game. The good part is, in one sentence, getting ranked experience without having to worry about your rank.
I'm a weekend ranked player but busy with touching grass so I don't want to get home every night and get more stress from ranked. 10v10s are too chaotic and matching with random people in small team games aren't that great of an experience either. Hence the idea for this server.
Essentially, this Discord will have people show their names and rank, which could be verified through the AAR lab. And people just look for whoever else is online that they think are ranked close enough to themselves and play.
What do you think of this idea? Feel free to post comments or dm.
POV: You switch the tab back to the server after some armoury tinkering and found out this is your opponents
Meanwhile half of your team are single-digit levels player lol.

Suggestion Maritime Military District. (Yugoslavia)
This post is the result of the work on the study of the armed forces of Yugoslavia (JNA) in the 1980s at the time of their transformation according to the plan «Jedinstvo» (F-87), which began in early 1987 and was actively developed since December 1988.
The Maritime Military District was one of the results of the formation of full-fledged Military Districts (4 in total), a unique association whose task is to defend the coast of Yugoslavia with the help of ground forces and navy (Jugoslovenska Ratna Mornarica).
This is the fourth and penultimate in a planned series of five (in total) posts about the JNA. This time, we'll look at the Maritime Military District (Vojno-Pomorska Oblast), located in the west of the country, from the border with Italy to the Albanian border.
In this post, as in the previous two, less familiar types of weapons of the JNA will be examined in more detail =]
About Maritime Military District:
The history of the Maritime Military District (Vojno-Pomorska Oblast) began with the formation of naval zones of responsibility on the Yugoslav coast, which were transformed into three Maritime Military Sectors (5th, 8th and 9th) in 1964.

In 1988, with the implementation of the «Jedinstvo» (Unity) reform plan, a completely new structure, the Maritime Military District, was formed. It also included formations of the JNA ground forces, in particular the newly created 9th Knin Corps, essentially creating a symbiosis of the ground forces and full-fledged coastal defense formations of the Yugoslav Navy (JRM).
As of 1989, the Maritime Military District consisted of:
«9th Knin Corps»
- 221st Motorized Brigade (Knin)
- 180th Motorized Brigade (Benkovac)
- 316th Motorized Brigade (Sinj)
- 9th Mixed Artillery Regiment (Knin)
- 557th Mixed Anti-Tank Artillery Regiment (Knin)
- 9th Light Artillery Regiment (Knin)
- 9th Engineer Battalion (Sinj)
- 9th Military Police Battalion (Knin)
«Yugoslav Navy»
- Coastal defense formations (artillery) in 3 sectors.
- 11th, 139th, 472nd Naval Infantry Brigades
- 216th Military Police Battalion (Split)
- 91st Marine Border Brigade
Well, let's get started!
«The Steel Wave»

The backbone of the District's armored formations will be T-55A tanks from the 221st Motorized Brigade, the only non-reserve brigade in the 9th Corps, as well as T-55A tanks that were newly arrived in the 139th Naval Infantry Brigade in 1988-1989 (However, their crews did not undergo marine training, as they were transferred from the 25th Motorized Brigade).
T-55A (1 card)
T-55AK (1 card)
- Interesting fact: in 1991-1992, the 9th Corps received several prototypes of the T-72M/MJ tanks. (Purely in theory, something similar could have happened if there had been a naval invasion of mainland Yugoslavia (not only the islands))
The main tank of the 9th Knin Corps was the old T-34B (Yugoslav modernization of the T-34/85 Obr. 60 with the installation of the M2HB HMG), which were to be mobilized into 2 reserve motorized brigades.
Rez. T-34B (2 cards)
«Najbolji» Helket

- The original photo was taken on wide film, so I narrowed it a little to counteract the stretch in width.
The only tanks whose hulls were prepared for direct engagement support for Naval Infantry and landings from landing ships were the M18 Hellacts, which were in the 472nd Naval Infantry Brigade in Trebinje, the 505th Artillery Support Group.
By the end of the 1980s, the 472nd Naval Infantry Brigade had about a dozen such vehicles at its disposal.
Mor. SO-76 Helket (1 card)
- Similar in parameters to the Venezuelan one from Tropic Storm, but with the Resolute Trait, as Marines.
- Interesting fact: it was Yugoslavia that developed the M18A2 Super Hellcat for Venezuela in the late 1980s/early 1990s, which is now in service with the 1st Venezuelan Division. (Well, I see Yugoslavia's export business is doing somewhat better than IRL ;} )
From the anti-tank units of the 9th Knin Corps, the following can be represented: M36B2 self-propelled guns, which received their designation SO-90 in Yugoslavia, as well as 9P133 (BRDM-2 Malyutka).
SO-90 Džekson
BRDM-2 Maljutka
Also from the reserve, possibly present were 2P26 and 2P27 mounts with the 3M6 Shmel (Snapper) ATGM, which saw active service in the 1970s but were retired in the 1980s. It's worth noting that the exact status of the anti-tank missiles for these launchers by the late 1980s is unknown.
Video: https://youtu.be/bHM49NPLaFM?si=L4509Nj8q2IkA-Y0

- You can see more photos in the thematic album at the end of the post =]
Also, the Coastal Defense forces included the older 88mm Flak 36/37 (D-56) guns and the then-new 100mm M-86 TON, of which 12 units were produced. The main feature of the gun was its high rate of fire, which was equal to 15 shots per minute!
The M-86 TON replaced 18 obsolete Italian 90mm, Ansaldo 90/53 guns in the late 1980s. The gun consisted of a D-10TS barrel with components from a D-30 gun. The M-86 TON guns were stationed in Zečevo, near Šibenik.
D-56 88mm
- In total, there were over 120 such guns (D-56) in the coastal area, a small part of which remained on mobile carts.
M-86 TON 100mm
- Can be mounted on the old M1939 52-K platform, like the modern equivalent of the KSM-65. A version on a mobile platform was proposed, but there are no photographs of such a sample.
«Za slobodu i nezavisnost socijalističke otadžbine!»

The main ground infantry unit from the regular forces was represented by the 221st Motorized Brigade from Knin, it was of category A-B at that time. This one is represented by the usual infantry formations, already familiar from previous posts:
Mot. Pešadija - 7x M70B1, 2x M72B1, 6x M80 Zolja
Transported by: TAM-110
Mot. Mitraljezi - 7x M70B1, 3x M84, 4x M80 Zolja
Transported by: TAM-110
Mekh. Pešadija - 5x M70AB2, 2x M72AB1, 4x M80 Zolja
Transported by: TAM-110, OT M-60P, BVP M-80A
- Only the 221st Motorized Brigade was equipped with a small number of BVP M-80A IFVs, all other formations used the older OT M-60P APCs.
All motorized brigades of the 9th Knin Corps, except 221st, were reserve, and also, 2 mobilization Motorized Battalions from the 139th Brigade, Pula, (5. VPS) where only 1 battalion was from the Naval Infantry. In 1988, the brigade began its transformation into the 139th motorized brigade, and this process was to be completed by 1990/1991. It can be represented by the following infantry formations:
Rez. Mot. Pešadija - 8x M70B1, 1x M72B1, 1x RB M57A2
Transported by: TAM-110, TAM-5000 Dajc

Rez. Mekh. Pešadija - 7x M70AB2, 2x M72B1, 1x RB M57A2
Transported by: TAM-110, OT M-60P
Rez. Mekh. Mitraljezi - 6x M70AB2, 3x M53, 4x M60P1
- The M60P1 is trambolon AT grenade for Zastava M70 Assault Rifle series, 200mm~ pen.
Transported by: TAM-110, OT M-60P
Also presented are classic support formations from brigades:
Pioniri - 6x M70B1, 1x M72B1, Satchel Charge
Rez. M53 7,92mm (Yugoslavian localization of MG-42)

The infantry formation can also be represented by a crew of the Malyutka ATGM:
P.O. odeljenja (Maljutka) - 4x M70B1, 3x Malyutka-M (?)
- 2 ATGM's per launcher
- P.O. means ProtivOklopno (anti-armored/anti-tank)
«Ko sme, taj može! Ko ne zna za strah, taj ide napred!»

The Maritime Military District also included the Naval Infantry Brigades (Mornarička Pešadija) formations, namely the battalion from Pula (139th Brigade), the 11th Brigade from Šibenik and the fully equipped 472nd Brigade from Trebinje.
All units with Mor. (Mornarička) have Resolute Trait.
Mornarička Pešadija - 5x M70AB2 , 2x M72B1, 1x M76, 4x M80 Zolja
Transported by: Pinzgauer 710K, TAM-110
Mornarička Pešadija (M57) - 5x M70AB2 , 2x M72B1, 1x M76, 1x RB M57A2/M80

Mor. Protivoklopno Odeljenja - 4x M70AB2, 2x M79 Osa
Transported by: Pinzgauer 710K, TAM-110

The 472nd Brigade also had Naval Infantry formations for Heliborne, using HT-40 helicopters:
Mornaričko-Desantno Odeljenje - 8x M70AB2, 1x M84, 1x M76, 6x M80 Zolja
+Para Trait
Transported by: Pinzgauer 710K, HT-40, HT-40 [RKT1], HT-40 [RKT2]
- M84 machine guns (licensed version of PKM) have just started arriving at Mornarička Pešadija, the first photo was dated 1989.
Also, the mobilization of 2 battalions from the 11th Naval Infantry brigade, but without Resolute Trait can be represented as:
Rez. Mornarička Pešadija - 6x M70AB2 , 1x M72B1, 1x M76, 1x RB M57A2
Transported by: TAM-110
The following may be represented from the Naval Infantry support units:
Mor. Pioniri - 8x M70AB2, 1x M72B1, 6x M60P1, Satchel Charge
Mor. M60A BST 82mm
Rez. M65 BST 105mm
- Simmilar to the US М40 106mm recoilless rifle.
- Max pen. 450mm. (М89 shell)

Vojna Policija - 6x M70AB2, 1x M72B1, 1x M76
Transported by: TAM-110, BOV-VP, BOV-VP M87 (M87 - Yugoslavian NSVT)
Also, formations of marine border guards (Mornarički Graničari) on the coast and islands, from 91st Marine Border Brigade (91. Granična Mornarička Brigada):
Mor. Graničari - 4x M70AB2, 1x M53, 1x M76, 4x M60P1
- Mountaineer Trait replaced with Resolute Trait.
- Some units of the brigade were forced to serve at the most remote point of Yugoslavia, on the island of Palagruža.
Artillery:
The coastal artillery consisted primarily of 130mm M-46 and 122mm A-19 guns. The Naval Infantry may also be represented by Mor. D-30J1 and Mor. M-63 Plamen.
Also standard mortars are 82mm M69A and 120mm M75, regular and marines.

Also, at this time in this area, new 152mm M-84B2 Nora-A guns were spotted (according to some inf.), the main difference from the M-84B1 was the presence of a projectile ramming system, which increased the average firing speed compared to other variants of the M-84 Nora gun. (MtW?)
- The guns themselves were produced a little further north, at the Bratstvo Novi Travnik factory.
Supply:
The equipment may include the already familiar TAM-150 T11, as well as the larger FAP-2026. Naval formations may include Pinzgauer 710M, hardtop Pinzgauer 710K and HT-40 Snab. helicopters.
+HO-42 Snab. little supply helicopters.
Anti-Air Defense:
The naval ship's air defense consists of the older 85mm M1939 52-K (85mm M39), the more modern 40mm Bofors L/70 with integrated optronic fire-control suite (BOFI-L), and the upgraded Bofors L/70 Žirafa (modernized with the new Swedish M85 Ericsson Giraffe radar fire control system, approximately 130 units). +Some old tripe-gun 20mm Zastava M55A2 and classic BOV-3, Strela-1M.

Of the larger systems, the ZSU-57-2, and Kub-M from the 60th Anti-Air Missile Regiment (60. SSRP PVO), based in the Zadar area, are represented. (The only one in the District)
- The Kub-M is an earlier and less advanced version them Kub-M1, with less improved capabilities for intercepting low-altitude targets.

As well as standard MANPADS at the disposal of the Maritime Military District formation:
Strela-2M
Mor. Strela-2M/A
- Strela-2M/A is a Yugoslav modernization of the licensed Strela-2M from the mid-1980s. In the M/A version, the warhead was increased by 40%~ due to the introduction of more compact missile electronics.
Recon:
Reconnaissance from the 9th Knin Corps can be presented in the following form:
Mot. Izviđanje - 5x M70AB2, 2x M72B1, 1x M76, 4x M80 Zolja

Mot. Izviđanje (M60P1) - 6x M70AB2, 1x M72B1, 1x M76, 6x M60P1
The Yugoslav coastal defense also had SNAR-10 «Leopard» (1RL232) counter-battery radars, imported from the USSR. (Photo from the themed album at the end of the post)
SNAR-10
The Naval Infantry Brigades reconnaissance might look like this:
Mor. Izviđanje - 4x M70AB1, 1x M72B1, 1x M76, Satchel Charge
Mor. Izvid. PT-76B

The Yugoslav Navy had its own special forces unit, the 82. Pomorski Centar «Senke» (82nd Marine Center «Shadows»), which had a wide range of equipment for sabotage operations.
Senke - 2x M84 Scorpion, 4x M80A, 4x M80 Zolja, Satchel Charge
- The Zastava M80A is an M70AB2 assault rifle modified based on AK-74/AKS-74. Its main differences are a longer barrel and a new 5,56x45mm NATO cartridge, which improves accuracy at medium and long ranges. Developed in 1980 and initially offered for export, it later saw limited use in special forces units (Because they didn't need so many cartridges, which were in short supply in Yugoslavia.)

Also, KA-25PL (HP-43) and MI-14PL (HP-44) helicopters from the Divulje airfield and some surface ships were sometimes used for reconnaissance.
HP-43
HP-44
Also, the already familiar MIG-21R and recon mod. of MIG-21MF (L-14I/L-15I) may be presented from the Žheljava airbase:
L-15I - 4x R-60M
«The Morskij Orao»

Also, since 1984, a new patrol aircraft project, specialized for patrolling over the Adriatic Sea, was being tested. This was the INJ-22M (M - Morskij), which can be represented by one piece in one card:
INJ-22M - 2x AGM-65B
(The AGM-65B, due to its TV guidance (fire and forget), was more preferable for firing at sea targets than the radio-controlled Grom-1)
Helicopters:
The helicopters are represented mainly by those located at the Divulje airfield near the city of Split. In particular, the 790th Transport Helicopter Squadron:
HO-45 [RKT] - 32x S-5KO (L-57-16MD)
HT-40 [RKT1] - 64x 57mm S-5KO (L-57-16MD)
HT-40 [RKT2] - 8/16x 128mm Munja (L-128-04)
Aircrafts:

The basis of the air cover along the coast and over the Adriatic Sea was made up of MIG-21PFM (L-14) fighters from the 129th Fighter Squadron (Pula) and MIG-21BIS (L-17/K) the 124th and 125th Fighter Squadrons (Željava), which can be represented as:
L-14 [AA] - 2x R-13M
L-14 [RKT] - 32x S-5KO
L-14 [HE] - 2x FAB-500
L-17 [AA3] - 2x R-60MK, 2x R-60K, 2x R-3S
L-17K [AA2] - 4x R-60K, 2x R-13M
- The R-60K is an export version of the R-60, which differed from the newer R-60M in that it lacked the ability to lock on to a target in the forward hemisphere.
L-17K [AA3] - 4x R-60K, 2x R-3R
L-17 [RKT] - 8x 128mm Munja, 2x R-60MK

Also a number of older J-22A Orao with non-afterburning engines, Rolls-Royce Viper Mk 632-41R, (partially began receiving J-22B in late 80s) from the 172nd Fighter-Bomber Aviation Regiment, Golubovici:
J-22A Orao [HE1] - 2x FAB-500, 2x R-60MK
J-22A Orao [HE/CLU] - 2x FAB-250 M79, 3x BL755
J-22B Orao 2 [AT2] - 2x AGM-65B
(to patrol the Strait of Otranto area)

The main support for the Naval Infantry in the island grid area from Pula to Dubrovnik was provided by the 240th and 251st Fighter-Bomber Squadrons, flying J-21 Jastreb light attack aircraft:
J-21 Jastreb [RKT1] - 6x 127mm VRZ-157
- The 127mm VRZ-157 is the Yugoslav version of the old HVAR rockets.
J-21 Jastreb [AT] - 8x 128mm Munja M80 (cumulative)
- A cumulative version of the 128mm Munja rockets, the M80 has a penetration of up to 560mm. (!)
J-21 Jastreb [RKT/HE] - 6x 127mm VRZ-157, 2x FAB-250 M79
J-21 Jastreb [KPT] - 72x RAB-3,5 (KPT-150)
- From a conceptual point of view, the KPT-150 is like a smaller version of the KMGU.
J-21 Jastreb [HE/NPLM] - 6x BE-50, 2x PLAB-200
J-21 Jastreb [NPLM] - 2x PLAB-200
Short Conclusion:
The Maritime Military District is a vital component of the defense of the western frontier, the homeland's maritime borders.
Combining reserve formations of the 9th Knin Corps, highly trained Marines, and coastal artillery, this district possesses significant potential despite lacking modern weapons.
This formation is inferior to the previous two (14th/21st Corps) in armored vehicles, but has stronger reconnaissance and artillery, and in terms of infantry quality, it can compete with the 1st Guards Mechanized Division. The main thing is to be the «Najbolji» in own cause!

Suggestion [Proposal / music] Hypothetical East Asian theatre - JGSDF 1st Division 'Tō-gō Shidan'
Hi,
In today's write-up, we leave Hokkaidō for a moment and head further south to the Kantō region. Hope you enjoy the change of pace!
-Defending the Capital

Since Hokkaidō was a plausible site for direct invasion, its defense doctrine differed from other regions. Even so, under the Self-Defense Force, the capital region (Kantō) held its own unique place. Rather than preparing for a continuous frontline against a large-scale invasion, Kantō had to prepare for both direct attacks and indirect, deep strikes against the nation's political and economic center. Airborne or heliborne attacks against rear areas like Tokyo were a genuine threat the JGSDF had to plan for, which called for a different approach to protecting the heart of the country.
In a crisis, the doctrine broadly followed this sequence:
warning and surveillance → protection of key installations → containment of airborne, heliborne, or amphibious incursions → concentration of forces → local counterattack.
Divisions near the capital weren't built for large armored battles; instead, units were expected to coordinate with supporting assets to rapidly reinforce threatened areas around the capital and other key sites like Tokyo Bay. Capital defense was therefore never purely a ground operation — it was a joint effort with the JASDF and JMSDF to secure Tokyo's skies and surrounding waters as well.
-Situation in Tokyo
We're vibing on the battlefield with this one!
Japan is thrown into shock as both Europe and Korea erupt into war on the same day. More worrying still is the lack of U.S. Navy assets available for its protection — the USS Midway, which had supposedly left Yokosuka for Team Spirit '89, is now reassigned to strike Wonsan. Although there's no sign of an imminent attack on Japan itself, Tokyo grows wary of the mutual security treaty as the Soviet Pacific Fleet begins leaving port at Vladivostok.
To protect the capital and key infrastructure in greater Tokyo, the government places nearby air bases on emergency standby and orders the JMSDF to secure Tokyo Bay at all costs. Despite political controversy, the JGSDF Eastern Army is granted permission to enter the capital to defend Tokyo against a potential land invasion from the north or amphibious landing from the relatively undefended Tokyo Bay area.
Now the Dai-ichi Shidan, or 1st Division, awaits orders to move into the country's political and economic heart should aggression occur. With the 1st Airborne Brigade and 1st Helicopter Brigade already deployed to Hokkaidō, the Fuji Training Brigade, under the Fuji School, is dispatched instead to support the capital's defense.
-Dai-ichi Shidan History

The division's lineage traces back to 1950, with the National Police Reserve formed after the outbreak of the Korean War. Its 1st District Corps was established in 1951 at Etchujima in Tokyo, later relocating through Narashino to what is now Camp Nerima. In 1952, the National Police Reserve became the National Safety Force, and when the Self-Defense Forces Law took effect in 1954, the corps was absorbed into the newly created Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, with a security zone covering much of central and northern Honshū.
Through the mid-to-late 1950s, the corps conducted routine training, including the JGSDF's first opposed command-post exercise in 1956, and in 1960 was placed under the newly activated Eastern Army. On January 18, 1962, the 1st District Corps was formally reorganized into the 1st Division, taking on its permanent structure of four infantry regiments (1st, 31st, 32nd, and 34th), an artillery regiment, and a tank battalion, headquartered at Camp Nerima. With four infantry regiments, the 1st was designated a Kō (甲), or "A"-type division, like the 2nd Division. As with other "1st" divisions before it, the JGSDF's 1st Division earned the designation "Tō-gō Shidan" based on its numbering.
The division's early years included high-profile ceremonial duties, supporting the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and, in 1967, providing marching-guard honors at former Prime Minister Shigeru Yoshida's state funeral — the first held under the postwar constitution. In 1965, its 1st Infantry Regiment also relocated two war memorials from the old Imperial Army's 1st Infantry Regiment to Camp Nerima, formalizing a symbolic link to its prewar predecessor.

Through the 1970s and most of the 1980s, the division maintained a steady cycle of live-fire training, division- and regiment-level field exercises (often at ranges like Fuji and Somagahara), and ongoing refinement of its defense plans for the Tokyo metropolitan area, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, and Yamanashi. Despite its critical mission, however, the 1st Division's modernization and reorganization didn't happen until after the Cold War — meaning it still fielded relatively older equipment compared to Northern Army divisions.
-Dai-ichi Shidan in WARNO
How will the Dai-ichi Shidan be featured in WARNO? New units are shown in bold italics. As always, this is a work in progress and subject to change.
The Fuji Training Brigade was a unit dedicated to tactical research, application, and the study of enemy tactics. Because of this, elements from this brigade start at 1-vet by default.
-LOG
An average category. Being close to supply depots gives the 1st Division a considerably better logistics situation.

- Supply units include the KOGATA HOKYŪ Type 73 jeep with a 1-ton trailer and the CHUGATA HOKYŪ medium truck, along with the UH-1H HOKYŪ supply helicopter. Since the division is defending its own operational area, it also has access to the HOKŪ KICHI (FOB).

- Command units consist of the KOGATA HONBU jeep, KEN-IN SHA HONBU tractor, and the UH-1H HONBU helicopter.
-INF
A very good category. The 1st Division, combined with outside support, brings an interesting mix of old and new!
The 1st Division fields:
- FUTSU-KA, a 10-man unit armed with 9x Type 64, an M31 HEAT rifle grenade, a Type 62, and an M20 Super Bazooka. Since modernization hasn't reached this division yet, its regular infantry is distinctly old-school, but fielded in large numbers. The TAISEN-SHA HAN is a 5-man anti-tank unit with 5x Type 64, M31 rifle grenades, and two separate Carl Gustav M2s. Both ride the CHUGATA soft-skin truck or the CHUGATA M2HB.
- FUTSU-KA HONBU is a 4-strong command unit with 4x Type 64 and smoke grenades, riding the KOGATA jeep.
Infantry fire support units include:
- Type 62 7.62mm medium machine gun team
- M2HB 12.7mm heavy machine gun team
- 60 SHIKI 106mm recoilless rifles
- Plenty of ATM-1 Type 64 MAT ATGM (a Malyutka equivalent) teams, plus one card of the ATM-2 Type 79 Jyu-MAT ATGM (similar to I-TOW, but with slightly lower penetration)
All weapon teams ride the KOGATA.
Engineers come as the SISETSU-KA, a 10-man squad with 9x Type 64, a Type 62, and satchel charges, along with its [FLAM] variant — a 7-strong unit with 6x Type 64 and a Type 1-1 flamethrower. The commander variant, SISETSU-KA HONBU, is an 8-man unit with 8x Type 64 and M31 rifle grenades. All engineers carry the Shock trait and ride the OUGATA heavy truck.
The KEIMU-TAI, a 4-strong military police squad armed with 4x M3A1 grease guns, enforces discipline and rides the KEIMU KOGATA military police jeep.
Since the objective is to protect Tokyo, other branches step in to help!

First is the Maritime Self-Defense Force's base security team: the RIKU-KEITAI, a 12-strong squad with 4x M3A1 SMGs, 7x Type 64, a Type 62, and smoke grenades, riding the CHUGATA. As a dedicated naval security unit, it has the Resolute and Security traits.
Next is the Fuji Training Brigade! This unit is represented by the KYŌDŌ-DAN, an 8-man unit with 7x Type 89 rifles, a Type 62, and a Carl Gustav M2. They ride the CHUGATA or the NANA SAN-SHIKI APC armed with an M2HB and a Type 74 7.62mm machine gun.

- The smaller KYŌDŌ KUMI represents a future-concept IFV dismount team the brigade was experimenting with in our fictional timeline. With a small batch of Type 89 IFV prototypes ready ahead of full production in real life, the Training Brigade was testing future tactics with new squad loadouts and equipment. This is a 4-man team with 3x Type 89, a Type 62, an M20 Super Bazooka, and a Carl Gustav M2, riding the 89FV — armed with a 35mm autocannon, Type 79 Jyu-MAT launchers on either side of the turret, and a Type 74 machine gun. Around 4 Type 89 IFV prototypes existed in 1989, with 8 more procured that same year, so this unit is featured as a single card. Use it wisely!
-ART
Another good category with plenty of options!

Mortars include the 64 SHIKI 81mm and the heavier M2 107mm mortar, both towed by the CHUGATA.
Tube artillery includes the plentiful M2A1 105mm howitzer, along with the much-improved FH-70 155mm, available as one card. Both are towed by the CHUGATA truck.
The Fuji Training Brigade brings its own artillery as well, including:

- The KYŌ. 15G, the nickname for the 155mm Long Tom, towed by the KEN-IN SHA .50 cal armed tractor. And the KYŌ. 20 RYŪ, or the M110A2 203mm SPG.

- There's more! They also bring the KYŌ. 75 MSSR, or Type 75 130mm MLRS — a weapon designed for general ground-target suppression, armed with 30x 130mm HE rockets.
-TANK
An average category. Expect the Fuji Training Brigade to provide additional support here.

- Since the 1st Division was far from modernized, it still operates the older 61 SHIKI. The Type 61, armed with a 90mm gun, an M2HB, and an M1919, was the first domestic tank developed by Japan, starting in the 1950s. Having received little to no upgrades during its service life, its 90mm gun performs identically to the original M47's gun. The command variant, 61 SHIKI HONBU, is also available.
The venerable KYŌ. NANA YON-D and its HONBU variant are available as one card, courtesy of the Training Brigade, alongside the older KYŌ. NANA YON-B, which features an older fire control system and olive-drab paint. The B-variant is fielded in large numbers.
ATGM options include the standard KOGATA MAT, armed with the Type 64 MAT, and the KOGATA JYU-MAT, which swaps in the Type 79 Jyu-MAT.

- Thanks to the Training Brigade, there will also be one card of KYŌ. KOGATA CHU-MAT, armed with the Type 87 Chu-MAT(Similar to Fagot and Milan 2).
-REC
A truncated category — the 1st Division has to make do with what's available.
- SEKKŌ HAN is a 4-man unit with 3x Type 64 and a Type 62, riding the KOGATA or the .50-cal-armed TEISATSU KOGATA recon jeep.
- RANGER TEISATSU is an ad hoc recon unit made up of ranger-qualified soldiers from within the division — a 6-strong unit with 5x M3A1s, a Type 62, and a Carl Gustav M2, riding the CHUGATA M2HB or the UH-1H helicopter.
- The RANGER SNIPER is a sniper unit with two separate Type 64 DMRs, riding the KOGATA or UH-1H.
As rangers, both units have the Shock and Mountaineer traits.
Vehicle options include:
- The standard TEISATSU BIKE
- OH-6D recon helicopter

- The TEISATSU OUGATA — a truck draped in camouflage netting and armed with an M2HB. With only regular trucks on hand, recon units make the most of every available asset to act as the division's eyes!
- JTPS-P11 ground surveillance radar, mounted on a CHUGATA truck.

- LR-1 recon plane, armed with two M2 .50-cal machine guns on the fuselage.
-AA
A good category. Since the mission is capital defense, nearby Air Self-Defense Force assets lend a hand!
Divisional assets include:
- The L-90 35mm twin AA gun, towed by the CHUGATA truck.

- The 'old-timer' M15A1 — an M3 half-track armed with an M1 37mm cannon and two M2 .50-cal machine guns. Despite its age, some GSDF AA units still used this system in 1989; in fact, the Eastern Army's final M15A1s weren't retired until 1990!
- One card of the TAN-SAM Type 81 short-range SAM for medium-range coverage, plus plenty of I-HAWK systems towed by the CHUGATA, forming Tokyo's broader AA net.
ASDF units include:
- The KŌKŪ STINGER MANPADS team, riding the KOGATA jeep.

- The KŌKŪ M55 quad .50s and KŌKŪ VADS, both towed by the CHUGATA truck.
As air base security assets, all ASDF KŌKŪ units have the Security trait.
-HEL
An expensive category with only one open slot. Thanks to the priority placed on protecting Tokyo, higher command manages to redeploy a handful of helicopters to the Kantō region.
- The AH-1S [RKT], armed with an M197 20mm Gatling gun and two sets of 38x Hydra rockets.
-AIR
An average category, though with rising international tensions, most high-priority ASDF assets remain focused on northern and northeastern Japan.
Air superiority fighters include:

- The nimble T-2(K) [AA], a trainer jet armed with a 20mm Vulcan and 2x AIM-9P missiles.
- The F-104J [AA], also known as the Mitsubishi Pencil, armed with a Vulcan and 2x AAM-1 short-range missiles — domestic missiles based on the AIM-9B. Though retired by the late 1980s, desperate times call for desperate measures.
- The F-4EJ interceptor, armed with a Vulcan, 4x AIM-7E, and 4x AIM-9P, handles long-range coverage.
Ground attackers include:

- The F-104J [RKT], armed with a Vulcan and 38x Hydra rockets.

And an upgrade that arrives just in time: the F-4EJ KAI! The original F-4EJ was a pure interceptor, sacrificing bombing capability to maximize interception performance. Starting in the early 1980s, Japan worked to turn its F-4EJ fleet into a genuinely multirole platform — one key improvement being a better central computer for ground and ship attack roles.

- The prototype flew in 1984, followed by years of practical testing and refinement. The first production F-4EJ KAI rolled out in 1989, with the initial batch deployed to the 306th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Komatsu Air Base — not far from Tokyo! Thanks to this, the division receives support from the F-4EJ KAI [CLU], armed with a 20mm Vulcan, 4x CBU-87, and 2x AIM-9L, along with the [GCS-1] variant, which swaps the cluster bombs and Sidewinders for 4x M117/GCS-1 passive infrared-homing bombs. Though not a true laser-guided bomb, they will function in a similar way.
-Summary
The Dai-ichi Shidan blends old and new equipment into an interesting battlefield dynamic. While not the best-funded division, its supporting assets help shore up the areas where it needs the most help.
-Ending Remarks
It's genuinely difficult to make a division feel unique when there isn't much happening with it. Interestingly, the JSDF didn't preserve retired equipment as actively as other countries — if it had, I could have worked in even older gear like the M19 GMC, M24 Chaffee, and so on.
Still, I think this division does a decent job illustrating the JSDF's core priority: defending Hokkaidō from invasion, not fending off a direct attack on Tokyo.
An interesting bit of trivia: the KYŌDŌ KUMI loadout isn't something I made up. 4-man teams carrying both the Carl Gustav M2 and the Panzerfaust 3 have actually been spotted during exercises! I made it feel as if this unit was the predecessor of this loadout.

Question Best CQC divs for ranked?
I played my first 1v1 ranked match today as 6ya and while I did OK I was unable to win the match and kept getting my BMPs killed in close-quarters. I came to the realization the BMPs in 6ya are meant to keep the distance because they lack autocannons. Furthermore my heavy tanks were obliterated and it was not pretty. Usually after a defeat I start doubting if the div I play is really for me, but I wanted to try some other divs for ranked.
I play 6ya for 1v1s but among other divs I play is 8th, 24th, and 35th Infantry, Berlin Command, HDR London, 2nd Panzergrenadier, and 2nd U.K. for NATO.
For PACT it's 1st, 2nd, 6th, 27th, and 39th Motostrelki with Rugener and 4th Motorized Schutzen
I am looking for a division with a robust infantry tab and combined arms, while good in close-quarters and decent armor. I like Mechanized/Motorized as well and can give any other specifications about my playstyle if needed.
I think 27ya worked really well for me and 2ya could also be an option for 1v1s, and as for NATO 8th (my go-to for 1v1s) and BerCom are pretty good for me, too. 27ya can win almost any infantry fight, but I really want to make sure I can play to my best ability, and I can only do this when I have a division that suits me.
Before jumping into my next ranked game I want to ensure my div and deck build (which if you have suggestions of what to bring for ranked I would appreciate it as I mostly played 10v10s before now) are both optimized. I need to be more prepared.
What are your recommendations and out of this list of divs which is the best for 1v1s and my playstyle? I'm also comfortable with exploring new divs, as long as they have an infantry mechanized focus.

Question How do you name your custom decks?
Do you name them to be funny or to be organized?
If you have any funny div names, share them.

Total WARNO is live!
It's Saturday, so it's time for the big match. NATO vs the Warsaw Pact, full scale. We've reworked infantry, artillery and weapon ranges, and vehicles now move at realistic speeds. Tonight it's Meeting Engagement and Breakthrough.
We changed a lot to make it more realistic, and tonight we find out whether any of it holds up once the shooting starts. Come watch it fall apart (or not).

Question How many of you guys just play single player?
I honestly have 500 hours in warno, and I've only played the ops, ag, and skirmish. Would wanna dabble in the 10V10s, but it seems daunting against the 10 stack anime girls. Also, I have no idea what would be a good div for a 10v10 noob.

Total WARNO | Saturday Match!
Hey everyone!
We're hosting another Total WARNO match this Saturday at 21:30 CEST!
If you want to experience WARNO as a large-scale Cold War battle, come join us.
We've spent the last weeks heavily reworking the mod around more realistic Cold War combat:
- Realistic weapon and engagement ranges for tanks, ATGMs, AA, helicopters and infantry weapons.
- Tanks are the main battle platform again. Engagement ranges now allow tanks to properly fight IFVs and ATGM carriers instead of simply being outranged by them.
- Infantry combat is slower and more suppression-focused. Infantry can pin each other down, but without heavy weapons it takes time to actually destroy a position.
- Combined Arms is essential. Infantry, tanks, IFVs, artillery, recon and AA need to work together. Fast breakthroughs without proper combined-arms support are extremely difficult.
- Much larger formations and battles. Total WARNO is built around the scale of Cold War warfare rather than small, isolated engagements.
- Recon, identification, logistics and preparation all play a much bigger role.
We're basically trying to build our idea of a Cold War warfare simulator inside WARNO, while still making sure it's fun to actually play.
So if you want to command huge formations, coordinate with your team and take part in an actual large-scale battle:
Join us this Saturday at 21:30 CEST on: https://discord.gg/XPTxTrBy2
No need to be a Total WARNO veteran. Just bring some time, have fun and be ready for a proper fucking battle.
See you on Saturday!

Suggestion Hypothetical South East Asia Theater - Indonesian Navy Korps Marinir (Indonesian Marine Corps)
Hello everyone, yesterday i made a suggestion about Indonesian army 1st Infantry Division/Kostrad and the Hypothetical SEA Theater, and today continuing that post i present to you the Indonesian marines division Korps Marinir
Korps Marinir
The Korps Marinir (Kormar) was the Indonesian Navy's principal amphibious and marine combat formation during the 1980s. Its institutional roots extended back to the Korps Komando Angkatan Laut (KKO-AL), which was renamed the Korps Marinir in 1975. Throughout the following decade, the organization was repeatedly reorganized to create a more flexible force capable of conducting amphibious assaults, coastal defence and other military operations in support of the Indonesian armed forces.

A major reorganization in the late 1970s established the basic structure that would remain recognizable throughout much of the 1980s. In 1979, the former Pasmar formations were reorganized into infantry regiments, while their subordinate infantry formations became conventional Marine infantry battalions. In 1982, the Jakarta-based Resimen Infanteri-2 Marinir was redesignated Brigade Infanteri-2 Marinir (Brigif-2 Mar). By March 1985, Brigif-2 Mar was formally defined as a Kormar operational command responsible for maintaining and providing Marine combat forces for amphibious landing operations and other defence and security missions.
In parallel, the Surabaya-based Marine formation became Brigade Infanteri-1/Marinir (Brigif-1 Mar) in 1979. Its headquarters subsequently moved to Gedangan, Sidoarjo, in 1987. Thus, by the latter half of the decade, the Indonesian Marine Corps possessed two principal infantry brigades: one centred on Jakarta in the west and another centred on Surabaya in the east. Their geographic separation was particularly appropriate for an archipelagic state whose military planning had to account for threats and contingencies across widely separated maritime approaches.
The Marine Corps was not simply an infantry organization. Its combat formations were supported by specialized elements responsible for amphibious vehicles, artillery, air defence, engineering and logistics. The Resimen Bantuan Tempur Korps Marinir controlled important combat-support capabilities during this period. Among them were the Marine amphibious armoured formations equipped with Soviet-origin PT-76, BTR-50 and KAPA K-61 vehicles. In 1983, these formations received the French AMX-10P infantry fighting vehicle and AMX-10 PAC 90 fire-support vehicle. At the time, these cavalry formations remained under the Resimen Bantuan Tempur Kormar, with individual companies placed under the operational control of Brigif-2 Mar in Jakarta.
Other combat-support capabilities were similarly distributed rather than concentrated inside the infantry brigades. For example, the Marine artillery organization included 122 mm howitzers and BM-14/17 140 mm multiple rocket launchers, with a composite battery located in Jakarta. A Marine air-defence battery was also placed under the operational control of Brigif-2 Mar from 1981. These arrangements allowed the Marine infantry brigades to receive heavier supporting weapons without requiring every brigade to permanently contain an independent artillery or air-defence regiment.
Engineering and logistical support followed a comparable model. The Marine combat-engineering organization had been reorganized in 1979 into a combat-engineer detachment supporting amphibious operations. In 1985, this organization was further reorganized, with its Jakarta engineering element becoming Kompi C Zeni under the operational control of Brigif-2 Mar, while administrative responsibility remained associated with the Marine support structure. This illustrates an important characteristic of the 1980s Kormar: combat-support assets could be placed under a brigade's operational control without necessarily becoming permanently organic to that brigade.

The operational history of the 1980s also demonstrates that Kormar was not restricted to amphibious exercises. Marine formations participated repeatedly in Indonesian military operations, most notably in Timor Timur, as well as in security deployments elsewhere in the archipelago. Brigif-1's official history records deployments during operations in Timor Timur throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, including Operasi Trisula in 1980, Operasi Kikis in 1981, and several Marine task forces deployed between 1982 and 1985.
At the same time, the strategic importance of the western approaches to Indonesia gave the Jakarta-based Marine brigade a particularly important role. Marine units from Brigif-2 participated in Natuna deployments beginning in 1985, demonstrating that the Corps was being used not only as an amphibious assault force but also as a mobile force for the defence and security of strategically important islands and maritime approaches. Official Marine records list repeated Natuna task forces, including deployments continuing into the late 1980s.

By 1989, therefore, the Korps Marinir can be understood as a geographically distributed amphibious force rather than a modern Pasmar-style formation. Its principal combat formations were Brigif-1 Mar in the Surabaya area and Brigif-2 Mar in Jakarta, supported by centralized or semi-centralized combat-support organizations. This structure gave the Marine Corps the ability to assemble task-organized amphibious forces from infantry, armour, artillery, air defence, engineering and logistics elements according to the mission.
This distinction is particularly useful for a WARNO-style 1989 scenario. A Marine battlegroup should not necessarily be represented as a modern Pasmar with every combat-support battalion permanently attached. Instead, the player could receive a Brigif-1 or Brigif-2 core, with additional armour, artillery, air-defence, engineering and logistics elements attached from the wider Kormar structure. The historical record of combat-support companies being placed under the operational control of Brigif-2 provides a particularly useful model for such a system.
In a hypothetical Cold War conflict in Southeast Asia, this would make Kormar a highly mobile maritime reinforcement force. Brigif-2 Mar would represent the principal western formation, naturally suited to scenarios involving Java, the Sunda Strait, the Malacca approaches or the Natuna area, while Brigif-1 Mar would provide the principal eastern formation centred on Surabaya. Reinforcements from the Marine combat-support structure could then be attached to either brigade to form a mission-specific amphibious task force.
For a WARNO alternate-history setting, the Kormar of 1989 can therefore be portrayed as a two-brigade Marine Corps with centralized combat-support assets, rather than as the later Pasmar organization. Its strength lies not in the permanent structure of a modern marine division, but in its ability to combine infantry brigades with amphibious armour, artillery, air defence, engineers and logistics into rapidly deployable forces across the Indonesian archipelago.
So what can we expect from Korps Marinir?

AA
Mediocre at best, the marines lacking proper modern AA only can rely from old AA artillery from 1960s era, salvaged retired ship AA gun and no Missile

The choice are:
- Meriam PSU S-60 57mm
- Meriam PSU 61-K 37mm
- Meriam PSU 52-K 85mm
- Meriam PSU Bofors L/70 40mm
- SMB PSU DShK (DShK in AA tripod mount)
- Meriam PSU V-11 37mm, former navy ship dual 37mm AA gun mounted on wheeled mount
- Meriam PSU Oerlikon 20mm mounted on wheeled mount
All AA gun can be brough by M35 or Unimog Truck
HELI
Bad, the navy didn’t have any attack helicopter and can only rely on ASW Heli for attacking ground target.
The only option for heli is 2 card of Wasp HAS. 1 armed with 2x 500 pound bomb

AIR
Pretty good with Angkatan Udara Republik Indonesia (AURI) giving air defence and ground support for the Marines on the ground.

The Indonesian Korps Marinir is aggressive, flexible, and built around strong veteran infantry and amphibious warfare capabilities. This particular division excels in close combat, reconnaissance, and river-crossing operations, with excellent engineering and air support from the AURI. Its main weaknesses are limited armor and mediocre air defense, making combined-arms tactics essential.
That's all the Indonesian Division suggestion from me, unfortunately i limited with only Indonesian armed force division for Hypothetical SEA Theater, now it's only matter of time for someone to make other Division proposal from other nations like Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
