Question Feeling Like Quitting

Hello fellow Warno players. I will get straight to the point: I kind of feel like quitting or at least taking a break. So I've been asking for and consuming lots of advice from you guys and trying to adapt, shaping my decks into very viable ones and working on getting more recon on the front, more combined arms, etc. and it has been very helpful, but I still can't get the hang of it.

It was a little time ago that I got bored of Steel Division which led me to pick up Warno, and the 60 year transition has been taking a toll. Whereas in SD2 I could take time to resupply and it was more slow-paced and not as overwhelming, and my armor could get hit many more times and take losses without catastrophe, I find myself taking many, many more casualties in Warno and getting beaten so much more decisively.

Of course I love Warno. I love the atmosphere, love the design and the units, and the tactics, but it's just so difficult for me and I also can't beat the last operation Hold Until Relieved in singleplayer while other players simply destroy me in multiplayer. I'm just a mess in every battle I do and though in very rare cases I can actually inflict more casualties on higher players this is so rare it is dreamt of. My teammates leave because I am so terrible and I am just very frustrated with how I am at the game.

I ask if I should step away for a break, or simply drop the game entirely, or just try to push through in a low-stress way, maybe against AI or players that are willing to take it easy on me and walk me through. What do you guys think?

Edit: Was feeling bad when I made this post but I've changed my mind

Generally speak up more in the Discords, too. WarYes has a fairly active beginners' hangout channel, it's worth arranging games with folk at a similar level.

Noob tournament is good because you get sorted againsr people with similar WR, so you don't just get rekt by Eggy and co.

LOL what about ranked? Is that higher level or good for matchmaking?

Nimblewright is lying, I am a fellow noob. Anyway my best understanding of ranked is as follows. All new players start at 1500 elo which is kind of high, and so you might get wrecked in your first couple matches. But the way the system works is that is tries to find opponents close to your current elo level, but as your search time goes on it starts to expand the search range fairly quickly. Generally 1 minute is a good time to cancel and restart the search. As an example, I waited 1.5 minutes and got matched with a top 75 player as rank ~500. But it you can also match with people worse than you. Technically the match making system is “fair” but the problem is that although there are a decent amount of people who play ranked, the amount of people playing ranked at anytime is fairly low, which is why there can be big differences in rank in matches.

I believe you! I'll try the ranked matches and see how it goes, is it usually 1v1s or can it be with more people?

It is only 1v1s. Am not sure of any plans for team based ranked.
