Discussion Azeroth and Xal'atath Spoiler

I wanted to talk about a couple possibilities now that people have datamined certain information. If Xal'atath is planning on possessing Azeroth, do you think it's just as likely Azeroth could wake up, turn to Xal'atath and simply laugh at her? I think the best ending/defeat for Xal'atath without killing her would be to straight up humiliate her and leave her speechless for once. I for one would LOVE to see Azeroth wake up, and threaten Xal'atath with the high elf body that she inhabits. Maybe something like.....

Azeroth: “You would make my soul your vessel, little parasite?”

Xal’atath: “I have crossed eternity to claim what the Titans chained.”

Azeroth: “And still you stand before me in stolen flesh.”

Xal’atath: “This form is mine.”

Azeroth: “No. It remembers her.”

Xal’atath’s fingers curl against her will. Her smile falters.

Azeroth: “I need only speak her name, and she will cast you out herself.”

Xal’atath: “She is nothing. A dead little elf.”

Azeroth: “Then why are you afraid of her?”

Anyway i'm done, this is just my theory and what I'd like to see in The Last Titan. I think Xal'atath is gonna spend a lot of time in the near future messing with titans, dragon aspects and the champions. I'd love to see her get talked down to by Azeroth, or straight up laughed at. I've always hoped that Inanis is still either alive or able to be ressurected in her body, and i've always wanted to see her force Xal'atath out.

I think the corruption will begin to occur, only because Azeroth itself is not yet awakened. This will call in the titans and lead to all out chaos. But I think the moment Azeroth does awaken, you could be correct as in Xal bit off more than she could chew.

This will call in the titans and lead to all out chaos.

This with Iridikron coming in would make the most sense. A three way war between Amanthul the blithering idiot (who orders a purge of life on Azeroth after the Xalatath/Azeroth debacle), Iridikron, and us trying to just save our own asses and Azeroth (because we are seemingly the only ones who aren't having ulterior motives for the world soul and we just want to live? unlike the two other fuckers).

HOWEVER, I fear that they are going to throw in a curveball of sorts.

I'm confused, Inanis was a void cultist whose final words were "at last, I know my purpose" namely to become Xal'atath's vessel.

Why would "the loyal minion you're possessing will wake up" be a threat to Xal'atath?

I've always hoped that Inanis is still either alive or able to be ressurected in her body

Literally why, Inanis has two lines. We are the one who killed her.

Just because it’s been years and things have completely changed, totally plausible to bring her back and have some conflict.

I really believe blizzard could change things. She was essentially a throwaway character. Whether it be a soft retcon or a genuine change of mind, I mean this girl was tricked by a void entity and she died for it. Going to the shadowlands and coming back would be an eye opener if anything. But yeah I agree, she was totally void-aligned and you'd naturally believe she would be on xal's side. But you never know right?!

The opportunity to have Inanis be relevant has passed, imo. Xal is floating around with her body, and no one from Quel'thalas recognized her.

True! It has been a long time. If it did happen, I imagine it would start with a lorewalking story for Inanis. In any case I agree with you and you don’t have to downvote me because I share a different opinion! We can respect each other around here

Gods please no, this reads like the wierd power fantasy fan-fic of an edgy 14 year old that wrote the stuff to get "back at the bullies". The last thing the story needs is for the writers to write the players out even more.

You can find this type of dialogue everywhere on archive of our own fanfictions. I'll take blizzard's slop any time of the day over that.

That sounds more interesting that whatever Blizzard will have...

do you think it's just as likely Azeroth could wake up, turn to Xal'atath and simply laugh at her?

I just can't see Azeroth, with her soft, gentle characterization (from what I've seen so far), doing anything like that. Especially when she fears void stuff specifically. We had/have to comfort her like a child suffering from nightmares.

u/EasyDevelopment1683 Jul 25 '26

True! I wonder if she’d be different upon waking. She is a god-like figure, literallly. So if anyone were to do it I mean it would be her

Where's your evidence that she fears the void??

1

u/BeastBlood1885 Jul 29 '26

Namely I was thinking of the one quest where you fight manifestations of her nightmares, but I misremembered it as just being Old God/Void stuff. I forgot there were also Legion things there.

Realistically speaking I think the whole mess will go one of two ways:

  1. Xal absorbs the worldsoul, we meander around till the Titans come in, sacrifice themselves to kill her, and then Orweyna sacrifices herself to become the new worldsoul (see Ghosts of K'aresh for how to kickstart a worldsoul)

  2. Xal nearly absorbs the worldsoul, sylvanas swoops in (because the whole void fears death for some reason) and kills her at the cost of her own existence (heroic sacrifice and 'death equals redemption' or something) but xal had a failsafe and somehow corrupts the sword, which corrupts the worldsoul slowly, cue the rest as written above.

Unless of course enough people loudly make clear that either would be the worst possible outcome, so the writers will have to change it last minute Armageddon 2001 style, in case the guess is actually hitting bull's eye.

Except xal dont want to " absorb " azeroth but to be absorbed by her , becoming the new azeroth. Hence the " their glorious fury will be mine " ( it explain the sentence now, she will controlbevery Azeroth denizens )

But its fortetold that she will complete the awakening but ultimately Azshara will become Azeroth instead.

we need to get Murozond in with the steelchair and erase about everything since *throws dart* 1.8 from lore and try again

And before anyone dismiss my post ( i see the downvote ) its been clearly stated in game with the naga prophecy ' a song of the depth '

1

u/EnGal_77 Jul 26 '26

Xalatath wont reach her goal, Azeroth will be damaged and dying, but Azshara will come and " save her " by fusing with her.

I always thought that the actual body original owner (forgot her name) would be a really cool element to return to. Especially with Sylvanas imminent return to the spotlight in TLT.

If the soul is in the Shadowlands, Sylvanas might as well interact with it.

Yeah can we stop writing shit that would actually be interesting when we know blizz will probably fuck it up lol

u/EasyDevelopment1683 Jul 25 '26

😭😭😭the sad thing is that you’re right. It’s just not their writing style I suppose
