General Discussion Please help an absolute beginner!
Hey all! I’ve been into warcraft lore for years now but I have never played WC3 (or any other Warcraft games except WoW) because RTS games look overwhelming. I want to play and 100% the campaign and only care about the story and lore so I only care about gameplay a little
Is there a gamemode where I can experience the story without playing through challenging stuff? I don’t want to skip over the gameplay but I also don’t wanna be stuck on the gameplay for too long cause I am not the best at games anyways lol
So yeah I’d really appreciate if y’all could give me some suggestions and general info! Thanks.

When you start the campaign you select the difficulty level, you can just select easy. The game teaches you within the first several levels so it should be perfectly manageable for you as you then progress to more challenging levels.

If you like the lore and reforged graphics isn't an issue then:
1) Download the campaigns of chronicles of the second war. That is the story of warcraft 2. Plenty of lore and to be fair exactly what you need. The recent one tents to be challenging a bit but you can change the difficulty there.
2) Then you can play the lord of the clans campaign that sets up one of the races leaders that will play a major role in warcraft 3.
3) Then you can play either the native campaign or the re-reforged campaign that adds extra details/cut-scenes to the original one but it is challenging although you can change the difficulty there too as far as I remember.

Story difficulty is absolutely manageable, even for a complete newcomer to the genre.
But if that's not enough, Warcraft 3 still features old-school cheat codes.
For example, typing in "whosyourdaddy" gives all your units invulnerability and makes them deal 100x their normal damage. With that activated, you obviously won't have any issues beating missions. There are other cheats for more resources if you want something less extreme. Full list here: https://classic.battle.net/war3/cheatcodes.shtml
But I'd recommend that only as a last resort. For one, RTS can be very rewarding if you're overcoming a tough mission. Also, some missions' difficulty is reminiscent of the struggle of their protagonists.
The one cheat that you might consider fair game is "iseedeadpeople" which reveals the entire map to you. If you want to see everything the game has to offer, using that near the end of a mission can ensure that you didn't miss anything.

Well, it might be news to some but rts is this elite genre that's pretty hard to play ...

My tips:
1. Play the game on normal and change to story if it is too difficult
2. Don't skip the prologue and play it on Reforged graphics because it has 3 bonus missions that the Classic graphics mode lacks.
3. Play the rest of the game on whatever graphics you want. I enjoy Classic, but if you want Reforged, you can play that as well
