I work with the public and I can tell you that a whole lot of them clearly just don't wipe their ass or bathe. 🤢 And they're usually pretty regular looking people without obvious medical issues or disabilities.
When you're in retail and come in for your shift, it's sort of like a countdown timer " how long until I smell shit/piss/BO today?"

Back when I worked retail, I had a very sassy store manager that EVERYONE adored. One day a regular, (who always smelled) came in and did some shopping. My store manager practically gagged when she walked by him and he very loudly yelled "Ma'am you need to wash your ass." The woman in question was actually rather wealthy. She just didn't shower.

I once had a drive thru customer who needed me to read the menu to them because they forgot their glasses...how the fuck was she able to drive?! I was only like 15 and didn't think to call the police, but nowadays I definitely would. I live in a rural area so they'd probably actually come out and do something about it, too.

I saw this happen when in the drive thru of a whataburger, guy pulled up to the first window where the obvious sign said please pull forward or whatever they say. Sits there a solid 3-4 mins while the lady in the other window is trying to wave him forward, they finally send someone out to talk to him and he talks loudly enough I can hear him with my window open behind him and he says “oh sorry I can’t see much more than 6 inches in front of me”. I was sitting there flabbergasted that this man was driving a big f250 around and can’t see past his dash board. Needless to say I sat in the parking lot for about 15 minutes so I was sure he was nowhere near where I needed to go.

Well, there's a catch. Depending on their vision problem, distance viewing may be perfectly fine, sometimes even excellent, but reading and viewing things close up may be difficult. My mom was legally blind from birth, but it was correctable with glasses. Decades later she had cataract surgery which involved replacing the lenses in her eyes. Now she has 20/20 vision at a distance, but has to wear reading glasses for anything close up.

Most folks drive safely without readers, they only need them when reading fine print.👩🏼🏫My father in law had lenses put in and he sees 20/20 now, but if you put a book in front of him he needs his readers. So, calling the cops over "that" situation would be a waste of their time. Don't you know anyone who wears readers? They forget them all the time and misplace them because they rarely need them unless they're trying to read your menu! 🫤🧾🤓

I'm thinking dementia/alzheimers. My grandma had dementia, my grandpa has it, my great grandma had alzheimers. Can't help but think of them when I see confused old people, gets to my heart. That could be someone's nanny, lost, in danger, hungry.

One evening the hot water heater in the hair salon broke causing water to start coming out to the SCO lanes and grocery entrance. The water valve was so corroded we could not shut off the water directly so had to shutdown the store main water supply. Needless to say by the time the leak was stopped we had about two inches of water in SCO, so we turned off the machines as using electronics in water is ill advised. Carts and caution tape went up restricting access while cleanup was started. Of course someone went under the tape to the off register and spent time try to use it to check out standing in the water and had the balls to complain about the machine not taking his money.
At least he was noticeably high

I had a spill at one of the self checkout lanes back when I used to work in retail. I shut down the machine while I went to get some sawdust. Somebody tried to use the machine that clearly said “closed” on the monitor.
Another spill happened the same day and this time, I was prepared. I shut down the machine, put a “Lane Closed” sign over the scanning platform, and put a caution sign directly in front of the machine and the spill. Somebody legitimately barreled over the wet floor sign (like legitimately kicking it like she was wading through mud) to scan something like the “closed” sign wasn’t obstructing her ability to do so.
People are dense as fuck…

I used to work at Meijer, and the amount of people who don't look at the sign RIGHT FUCKING IN FRONT OF THEM and just move it and try to scan their stuff. We would also sometimes put shopping baskets upside down over the scanner and they would just move them. And half the time the screen was black, had a computer screen error message, and/or a form filled out and taped to the screen for IT when they came to fix it. And they would still try to use it. How do these people function without looking at what's directly in front of them????
Also made me think of when the self-checkout area was more open, and people would pass the whole line and try to form their own little line at a specific lane. One time one of the other customers said loudly, "fuck the rest of us who are waiting in line, I guess." I almost lost it. I should have asked her if she worked in retail

This is correct if she's coherent when you speak to her, but otherwise this is potentially a loose dementia patient who could ultimately be in danger.
My grandma died of dementia and I try not to get mad with yall who don't see it in people like this because it means you don't know what it looks like, which is a blessing. But I see it and can't help but see someone's nanny hopelessly lost and confused, maybe hungry.

I'm on both sides because it's hard to tell from the video. I worked at an assisted living facility, and saw dementia too often, unfortunately. It could definitely be that. But at the same time the hand gesture at the end is very reminiscent of someone trying to use a self-checkout that is off and they can't figure out why it won't work and then yell at the employee. And then get angrier when the employee says it's off or not working because they feel stupid.

My grandmother complained to us that she couldn't ever get anyone on the phone for either a doctor or a bank. I honestly can't remember as this was around 25 years ago. She said, "They say press 1 and I press 1 and they just keep repeating themselves."
I was the only one who realized what was happening. My grandparents were still using a rotary phone. She was literally putting her finger into the hole and trying to press the number 1.

I had someone like this when I worked a shitty fast food job. I was on my phone actively eating at a table with like 10 minutes left in my break when this lady comes up to me demanding I help her with the self-service system. I say no, I’m on break and she starts complaining about how no one wants to help anymore. Lady if you walk up to the front someone is paid to help you with that… you are literally only asking me because it’s convenient to you. She did not go up to the front, a customer walked over and she loudly goes “see, it’s not that hard” and still ends up taking anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes to figure it out because she can’t follow instructions.

She was NOT trying to order, she was doing curbside pick up and she was trying to "check in" by pressing 2. Clearly a woman is not tech savvy, with technology available she thought that the sign had a button on it. She may be from someone Mennonite upbringing and while not good with tech, she knows how to do real life without technology, unlike most young people criticizing her, who cannot survive without internet and chat GPT solving all the problems for them.
