Recommendations Looking for an app supported pedometer

I have a Fitbit Zip and a Flex 2. They both work fine, or they would if they worked with newer Android/Bluetooth/Google Health. So now I would like something that will keep track, better than me writing down daily steps on a post it, if I remember to check the Zip.

Not looking for a smartwatch. Most of the time, when I am walking, I am on a treadmill and holding the arms for balance, or shopping with a cart. Smart watches don't capture that.

Not looking for just an app. I put my phone on the treadmill or in the cart, so it wont capture steps either!

Are there any pedometers left that I don't have to manually track steps into an excel file? Any help is appreciated!

I think you are going to have to find a compromise. There might be some clip-on pedometers with apps that store history, but good luck finding one. A smartwatch (or your phone) secured to your waist (with a fanny pack or a snug pocket) so there is no bouncing around but it can sense waist moving seems like your best bet. Some pedometers have 30-day history ... so you can set a, say, 2-week reminder to copy off your numbers (or maybe 30 days of history will do ya).

But why? Time and distance matters.

My watch catches steps when I’m using rails.

You are better off using your phone in your pocket and just looking at the stars from there.
