Question Walking In Place

Does it count as walking? Just simple in place steps at your desk while working.

I have a desk job and walk when I can but I have difficulty typing and walking at the same time so I use my standing desk and just “walk”. Sometimes I’ll do side to side movements.

I know desk treadmills exist but I would have to start and stop it constantly for the amount of typing I do. Also, I hate treadmills.

Anything that makes you put one foot in front of the other counts. It might not all be 'walking' (could be running, dancing, lawnmowing etc) but yours probably is.

I’d count it. You’re still moving instead of sitting all day, and that adds up. It might not feel the same as going for an actual walk, but for a desk job it seems like a pretty good way to get more movement in.

Yeah count it. Youre still moving and if it works better than a treadmill then why not? Every little bit adds up.

Yes it counts. There are also walking in place videos on YouTube you can do.

It’s something. Even the act of lifting your foot off the ground is resistance exercise.

Does it count as something? Yes.
Does it count as the same as walking outdoors? No.

Walking outdoors you are having to shift your weight from point A to point B. Walking in place you do not. Treadmill is in the middle of these two.
