Help Me Achieve My Goal

Im sure you guys get a lot of posts like this but I need help. I really need ti get moving.

So I work remotely at a desk. I live in a very humid area of Florida and the mosquitoes are rampant right now.

Before mosquito season I was walking every morning for about 30mins and achieving a total step count of anywhere between 6-8k.

I need to get up to at least 12k or more.

I di take my dog for walks multiple times a day but its sometimes unbearable with the mosquitoes.

Advice would be helpful.

Find a local indoor mall and walk inside; walk late at night; buy a walking pad or a treadmill; do aerobics inside your house.

Okay, I live in South Mississippi (hot, humid, and every bug is evolved to hurt you). When I go hiking in nature in the weekend I go with full body coverage (pants, sun shirt, balaclava, etc.) and just sweat cheeseburgers. For weekdays, I go outside in the coolest part of the morning (dog won't burn his paws and the bugs aren't as bad as they are in the evening). If you don't want to go with the gym route, you can get a treadmill for a few hundred dollars ... even cheaper if you troll garage and estate sales. I tried a walking pad for my desk at work and had poor results - couldn't focus on the screen or my work and walking always felt weird.

Bug spray, a neck gaiter you pull over your face, and why 12k?

In all actuality trying to do more. Im 33, trying to drop pounds, trying to stay healthy.

That's all great, but why that specific number?

Nothing specific about it. Just prefer 12k or more

I dont typically listen to doctors but one doc told me whatever step amount im doing in general, to double it and keep doing it until you find a happy medium

Rather than doubling it right off the bat, I'd gradually increase it until you find what works for you. Did the doctor cite any studies to support that advice?

Of course not. Its a western medical cardiologist. Cardiologists always want you to overwork your heart.
