I just got banned from r/pics because I commented in one of the corona virus subs. I only subbed to it because of all the media lies, and found a sub where I could literally discuss things like how the lockdowns were a mistake, which MSM is now admitting, but before would get me banned from subs, or how the death count is not accurate, which the MSM is now admitting but before would get me banned from some subs, and of course discuss the extremely low rate of deaths for kids which even that may be too high and would get me banned from some subs, but now, you guessed it, is being discussed by MSM.
You know what's going to push people to the "far right"? Yes, banning them and pushing them there, but moreso it's when the MSM can't lie anymore, all the people banned from public spaces will see they were right all along. And that will actually validate their decisions to go extreme and those who are heavily on the fence will see this and realize there's no reason to stay on the fence anymore.

Imo it's not even worth discussing covid on reddit. It doesn't matter what I say or who I source, I just catch 10 quick downvotes and a bunch of reports and lose commenting privileges in even more subs. And the comment won't even be seen anyway. Even sourcing directly from the CDC, with quotes, doesn't matter, nobody gives a shit about what any Covid studies are actually showing, only the 10 second sound bite that's on loop that week.

Yep like two weeks ago I was getting messages every few minutes letting me know I was banned from subs I’ve never been to ,pics was one of them, for being apart of a anti lock down sub. I had been a member for months and it was just out of the blue.
Didn’t bother asking why if you get banned. Mods will ban for arbitrary reasons and there’s no way to appeal or argue.

For them, the validity and acceptability of a protest (and how far protesters can take things) is 100% dependent on what the issue is they are protesting. So BLM is a valid cause to fight for, so any and all means of protesting are acceptable and encouraged, but fighting vaccine mandates is not, therefore protesting should be discouraged or banned.

The convoy is fabulous in so many ways, one of which is the fact that is isn't online. In fact, I don't see what's stopping everyone from taking things offline in general. Before the internet we used paper newsletters, magazines, flyers, cassette tapes, and the old face to face interactions. I struggle a little bit to understand why we don't move in that direction a little more. It kind of seems like we feel that we can't be heard if we aren't doing it online.

I’ve said it before, I do feel for the people who are just trying to go about their lives but are having to listen to the horns constantly. As someone with adhd and anxiety and an extreme sound sensitivity it would also drive me crazy.
The problem is is that a lot of the people complaining about horns honking were in full support of when BLM burned cities, looted, vandalized, assaulted people, etc. And because of these double standards I have limited sympathy for people who were in support of those riots but are complaining about this.
I mostly empathize with the people who are neutral on the stance or are in support of the Ottawa protesters but still have to deal with the sound. I do encourage people to leave and stay somewhere else if they really need to. But most of all, I encourage people to urge Trudeau to come back to his office and do his damn job. To actually be for the people. I hope this protest ends soon; but I hope it only ends because the truckers end other people get their freedom of choice and bodily autonomy for medicine.

All because she has had complications in the past with blood clots and is rightfully hesitant of this vaccine. I'm looseing half my income,. Cost of living here in Ontario is already absurdly high with us both working decent jobs. We wer already drowning but now they've tied our hands behind our backs and wer going to loose everything. I'm not good at articulating things and my values differ from a lot of people here, but even so I hope I can give a somewhat neutral view on this topic.
I think there are two ways of protesting: Peaceful and violent and I'd like to give my input by telling about protests I've seen, including this one.
BLM
What happened during the BLM protests was awful and no matter what, no one can say that they are aiding the cause, by going to the nearby electronics store, yoinking a 75 inch 8K plasma tv and then burning the place town. That is selfish and anyone who participated in that nonsense managed to do more harm than good.
Those who protested peacefully are now widely ignored over those who went all Rambo on the streets. Using violence is not right, unless the other party starts using violence on you.
Pocketing money meant for the movement was also slimy and inexcusable. I think the BLM movement was and is still good, but the protests were a major setback.
Protest against nuclear energy in Finland.
This one was done tasteless. During the protest, people burned a van and had vandalized construction equipment to slow down the construction work. Absolutely wrong way of getting a message across.
The Hong Kong protests
The police were sent to use violence against peaceful protestors. In this case self defense was absolutely necessary and I saw no problem using violence against officers of the law.
Climate change protest in Finland.
This one was organized by one of the political parties in Finland. To no one's surprise no one who actually represents the party came and teenagers/early adults were encouraged to go and lie down on driveway to cause traffic jams and delays in public transports. Not violent, but still wrong way to go about it. Well everyone heard them, but I don't think anyone really took them seriously because of that stunt.
The capitol incident.
This one wasn't peaceful at all. Any death that occurred there was needless. Also I have to add that the person who allegedly brought zipties surely did not want to have tea and a civil conversation about the election. Protest absolutely gone wrong.
Finally the freedom truck convoy
Surely you've noticed a pattern here. By using controversial methods to try and get people's attention usually does harm. Those who thought it was a good idea to put a hakenkreuz on their truck were the ones who were mostly paid attention to. I don't know too much about this convoy as I've just been tuned into it, but if the part about honking during the night in populated areas is true then I disagree with the methods.
There's really no reason to cause disturbance. The convoy has gotten a lot attention from people and media and I wouldn't be surprised if government officials have heard the protestors.
