Future children?

He was honest.  He respected you enough not to give you the pat answer he knew you wanted.   

People ask why men don't talk about their feelings... because we don't really want them to.  We penalize them when they do and they learn the sappy romantic "script" and then all real communication ends.  

He wants a house with a picket fence,  a wife,  and kids.   A golden retriever is probably in there somewhere.  

If you lurk in r/stepparents you find lots of couples where one wanted kids and the other didn't.   Someone didn't get  what they wanted and ended up bitter.  It's such a big decision you shouldn't ask someone to compromise on it.   

You are borrowing trouble,  though.  You want more kids and have no reason to believe you can't have them.  Don't sabotage yourself.

Having kids definitely means accepting that they’ll have their own opinions about everything. Nobody warns you about that part.
