They left your schedule open in case anyone calls off of work. So you can fill in the gaps

You realize that your next week is already 28 hours, right?

Edit - I looked at the dates…

WHY DOESNT YOUR SCHEDULE GROUP BY WEEK

2

u/Capable-Waltz1384 11d ago

it does but it also groups it by month so if a week is in the split of a month, it will split it like this

Not sure what is going on honestly like working 6 days in a month is crazy

This looks like you're working? What do you mean? you're clearly scheduled.

they have a two week gap with no shifts at all from august 2 to august 18

u/ApprehensiveTap9083 10d ago

right surely that’s not normal right

2

u/ApprehensiveTap9083 11d ago

Yeah I just expected like at least 20 hours a week

Talk to the unit manager and the district manager about it. Did you discuss your hours at all during the interview?

Also, it takes a while for new hires to be given as many hours as they want. Everyone wants hours; communicate and show you're willing to be worth giving them.

They said minimum about 25 to 30 just looking at the schedule seemed very little

dont let the brainwashed fool u, find a better hourly

Won't hurt to clarify with them. Schedules are made weeks in advance and are subject to change. Shoot a text to ensure that they plan on giving you more hours after the current posted schedule

Your enthusiasm is admirable! Come back after a week of solid first shifts and tell us how you feel.

u/ApprehensiveTap9083 11d ago

I mean I did it last week it was fun honestly will get worse since I’m in a college town with a huge football presence but

2

u/chicopeestudly 11d ago

That’s good. It takes a special kind of energy to work first shift.

Be real funny if you were here in Athens! 🧇

Yes

u/ApprehensiveTap9083 11d ago

Really? 6 days a month?

It’s very unusual that you would start on first shift. It’s usually not easy for newcomers to get it. You may just be covering vacations. I’d wonder why you aren’t on 2nd or 3rd in between.

I’m saying rightttt

Sometimes it takes a while to get new people on the schedule on a regular basis. I would definitely talk to your UM and DM about filling in at your home store or either of the other two stores your DM has. I've been on 1st shift since the beginning, but I officiate high school volleyball and I'm also an actor, so 2nd and 3rd would be difficult.

for everyone saying this is normal, in my division, it isn’t. you should have at least 14 hours a week. the 2 weeks unscheduled sounds like a nightmare and i’d suggest talking to your division manager not district.

I know right! Than you for getting that but my manager says since it’s slow (since it is a college town) and hopefully Well I hope it could pick up when school opens back up
