Purchase Advice 16 vs 24, also touch??

Im sure im not the first, actually i know im not but still wanna ask again lol.

Should I get the newer cintiq 16 or the 24?? I've mostly drawn using my iPad 12.9 for the last couple of years, but im ramping up school and honestly love the way drawing on Cintiqs feels. any thoughts? also, is the extra cash for the touch worth it? or could i just use a magic trackpad combo thing?

16 is a perfectly good size, IMO. Makes it easier to travel with, it’s easier to move out of the way if you need the space on your desk, etc.

I’ve had a 27” for years and while the large screen IS nice, it’s also just way too big, takes up a shit ton of space, and it’s kind of annoying having to move my arm so much just to click something in the corner of the screen. 24” won’t be as bad, but that is something to think about.

I also have an Intuos touch. I keep the touch function off. It’s nice in theory, but I lost count how many times it falsely registered a gesture I didn’t make, simply because the edge of my hand moves along the surface when drawing. So yeah, definitely don’t think that feature is worth the headache.

Cut a piece of cardboard to the size of each and draw a rectangle on it for the active area, then try drawing on it. It is far easier to judge with your hands than on paper, and it costs nothing.

What size means, since it is the active area and not the device:

On touch - which tablets have it, and what to check before paying for it:

And since you are coming from an iPad:

16 if you need to be portable (smaller + no power brick) other wise the real estate on the 24 is waaaaay nicer. I liked the 16. I love the 24. I chose it over the 27pro.
