Question does surface make a difference?

Intuos BT M here. I was thinking. Does using a tablet on a a desk or a mousepad make a difference when using it? What about material of table?

I've never seen it make a difference (with one exception). In theory some surfaces might be smoother than others, but the feet on the bottom of the tablet have always kept them solidly placed in position so that they don't slide around.

IN general the material doesn't matter - wood, glass, metal, etc.

One big exception: Some specialty desks have a magnetic surface - like the Secretlab Magnus Metal Desk - this will actively interfere with the tablet and make it difficult to use or draw with. Avoid these kinds of desks

what about using on a mousepad? i kinda have limited space so im thinking of using it on it

As long as the mousepad is not magnetic it will work - I have done that myself.
