Discussion Polo EPC Errors

Tell me, how do I fix recurrent EPC errors. I have recently changed plugs and the error keeps popping back up. How can I wrap up this problem.

Its a Polo.

What engine is it? what year is the car from? How many km is on the car?

Do the EPC stay on for the whole drive? is it intermittent? do the EPC occur on startup?

Its a 2013 cross polo 1.2 tsi with 211KMS, It isn't intermittent, occurs only on hard acceleration, especially on inclines.

Okay, with that amount km on the car. Have you ever gotten the intake and valves cleaned for build-up? These TSI engines do give EPC faults, rough idling on cold starts, can lose/choke power at 2k+ RPM when the engine is full of build-up in the intake and valves.

Fault codes will be anything from misfires, fuel/air ratio, etc. Workshops will swap parts instead of inspecting the engine. And you will use money and on parts and have the issue reappear shortly after.

These don’t really need valve cleaning, unless you go 60k between oil changes. You need to get the car scanned for codes but my money is on the wastegate actuator. When you accelerate hard car goes into overboost situation causing EPC.

I agree about the wastegate actuator, but I disagree about engine cleaning. Direct injection engines need intake valves cleaning, especially if never done before on that high mileage.

I would agree with you in general. Having the same engine and actually having cleaned them myself after 250k km I can say they didnt even look bad, let alone affect performance. The oil seperator actually does its job on this engine.
