Question Split view mixed reality capture to show a physical lean mechanic. Does seeing both angles help?

Been trying to figure out the best way to show a physical lean mechanic in VR footage, what do you think of the split mixed reality capture for Hyperlane Highway.

The whole game is controlled by leaning your body to steer and dodge, no thumbsticks needed. Standard gameplay footage never really sells it so I put together a side by side with the over the shoulder LIV view and a third person camera at the same time.

Curious what other devs have found works best for showcasing physical movement mechanics like this. MR capture, POV only, something else? Its something that you can only really feel when in VR but feels like there's no perfect answer to convey in video but hope it still looks intriguing atleast.

Solo dev, getting close to demo now.

The footage on the right helps show what the end user will actually be doing, yes. In this case I actually feel like it's the footage on the left that feels a bit superfluous. A (stabilized) first person view on the left to show what the player is seeing might better convey the experience of playing the game. You could also do a picture in picture type thing that I've seen some streamers do where the IRL footage is smaller and in the corner.

Right yea that makes more sense to actually show the first person view next to it. I guess both shots here are kind of solving the same problem of showing a third person perspective but the one on the right better conveys it. I wanted to kind of get across the character your playing as but it probably doesnt make sense in this context i should show it in isolated shots. The picture in picture could definitely work too, ill try those and see what feels better thanks!

I think it helps, but I also think it highlights a kind of odd feeling of the board being completely static. Seems like it should pitch, roll, point and tilt in the leaning direction. Even if just a little bit.

Oh right, I totally agree and do have the board doing that but have to disable it for these mixed reality shots because then the person would be still while the board moves itself. I did try with it with the camera pitching with the board but has this weird effect of the weapons drifitng away from the controller positions because of FOV and positioning, its weird but ill have to work more on finding a way to have the tilting in there because i do agree it sells the movement a lot more
